Who's the oddball scientist I'm thinking of?

Years ago I was fascinated by an eccentric man who was seemingly brilliant. I can't think of his name for the life of me. I don't believe he had a traditional education but he had an impressive home lab. I believe he was in his local newspaper at one point. He bought expensive items from the Navy when they would auction them off.

He had a little known youtube channel that was really neat. For the sake of adding to his description, I know he cross dressed from time to time and randomly added that on his youtube channel.

Anyone know who I'm talking about?

Found him. For what it's worth I'm not vouching for him, I just found him a to be a fascinating cat. His name is John Hutchinson.

Hutchinson seems to have mostly faded away from the limelight. He did some great experiments, but the problem with all high energy physics is that it is crazy dangerous.
His web site has some docs but they seem to be perhaps intentionally poorly shown. I know he was kind of like Tesla and didn't wish his ideas to be stolen, but it was a long time ago.

One particularly damning piece of evidence against him is a video he produced for a television special which shows a toy UFO levitating and jumping around wildly. A string is clearly visible in the upper left-hand corner of the video, wiggling in sync with the UFO’s movements. At first Hutchison claimed that it was a wire which was part of the apparatus, but later he confessed that he was “creative” with the footage because he has been unable to reproduce the effect since 1991.

An amazing video of Dutchsinse and John Hutchison with emf detection trailer. He stayed there for 2 days in St Louis.
This was back in 2011. Hutchison and girlfriend had been on the Gulf Coast trying to deflect the problems from the oil catastrophe.
