Mathew Stein: Scientist/Engineer who was inspired to write a survival book by ET
Hi everyone,
I was wondering, does anyone remember a story about an engineer or scientist who was inspired to write a book on technologies which would help post apocalyptic survival?

Re: Mathew Stein: Scientist/Engineer who was inspired to write a survival book by ET
I ask because my son reported this dream. He is 10 years old.
My son reported the following:
He watched he lights go out all over Earth, with waves of darkness spreading in all directions from PNG. He then found himself in a supermarket, watching a scene of people fighting for food in the isles. There were 6 people so fighting, 3 Europeans and 3 Asians. They were all fighting each other, and Andreas was watching this from the refrigerated section where there was no one else. The food there has despoiled and was of no interest to anyone. Then he found himself atop of a high building, looking down at a city. It was a vast city, according to him very much like Bangkok (if not actually Bangkok itself). There was no power, but there were people fighting each other everywhere. He heard much screaming and shouting He then looked up at the sun, and the scene then changed to a lake, a beautiful tree lined lake, where people were drinking the water but fighting each other. Their fighting led to a lot of water spillage, which was obviously draining the lake. Then the scene changed again. He saw a suburban apple tree, contested by about a dozen of desperate people. When pulling a branch, a large man succeed in uprooting the tree.
Next he returned to the supermarket, the building, the lake and the apple tree. Only at the supermarket did he see any people, and they were now more animal like and now no longer even spoke, instead just emitting guttural groans. They were clawing at each other for the last remaining food, which was a can under a shelf. The city scene was now completely silent, as was the lake. The lake was also now completely drained, and the apple tree was a blackened stump. The dream ended with the sighting of a bright light or beacon in the Indian Ocean which seemed to illumine an area the size of Madagascar. As he beheld the light, the light moved toward Andreas and struck him between the eyes. He then woke up.
Andreas - again without prompting - made two thematic points about his dream which I thought were extraordinary.
i) the lack of co operation between people was the key driver of the struggle that followed the loss of power
ii) the struggle would lead to the degeneration of the survivors.
This, to him, these were the meanings of the dream. This was apparent to him without my prompting or questioning,.
The dream seemed to him to indicate developments over what he thinks is a 2 year period. He estimates though there is a 30% possibility the dream was of a 2 month period, while he estimates there is a 10% possibility the period was just 2 weeks. As such, he deems the 2 year period probable giving it a 60% possibility. These numbers were of his own contrivance, and the estimates were given without prompting in that direction.
