Default Mathew Stein: Scientist/Engineer who was inspired to write a survival book by ET

    Hi everyone,

I was wondering, does anyone remember a story about an engineer or scientist who was inspired to write a book on technologies which would help post apocalyptic survival?

I ask because my son reported this dream. He is 10 years old.

    My son reported the following:

He watched he lights go out all over Earth, with waves of darkness spreading in all directions from PNG. He then found himself in a supermarket, watching a scene of people fighting for food in the isles. There were 6 people so fighting, 3 Europeans and 3 Asians. They were all fighting each other, and Andreas was watching this from the refrigerated section where there was no one else. The food there has despoiled and was of no interest to anyone. Then he found himself atop of a high building, looking down at a city. It was a vast city, according to him very much like Bangkok (if not actually Bangkok itself). There was no power, but there were people fighting each other everywhere. He heard much screaming and shouting He then looked up at the sun, and the scene then changed to a lake, a beautiful tree lined lake, where people were drinking the water but fighting each other. Their fighting led to a lot of water spillage, which was obviously draining the lake. Then the scene changed again. He saw a suburban apple tree, contested by about a dozen of desperate people. When pulling a branch, a large man succeed in uprooting the tree.

Next he returned to the supermarket, the building, the lake and the apple tree. Only at the supermarket did he see any people, and they were now more animal like and now no longer even spoke, instead just emitting guttural groans. They were clawing at each other for the last remaining food, which was a can under a shelf. The city scene was now completely silent, as was the lake. The lake was also now completely drained, and the apple tree was a blackened stump. The dream ended with the sighting of a bright light or beacon in the Indian Ocean which seemed to illumine an area the size of Madagascar. As he beheld the light, the light moved toward Andreas and struck him between the eyes. He then woke up.

Andreas - again without prompting - made two thematic points about his dream which I thought were extraordinary.

    i) the lack of co operation between people was the key driver of the struggle that followed the loss of power
ii) the struggle would lead to the degeneration of the survivors.

This, to him, these were the meanings of the dream. This was apparent to him without my prompting or questioning,.

The dream seemed to him to indicate developments over what he thinks is a 2 year period. He estimates though there is a 30% possibility the dream was of a 2 month period, while he estimates there is a 10% possibility the period was just 2 weeks. As such, he deems the 2 year period probable giving it a 60% possibility. These numbers were of his own contrivance, and the estimates were given without prompting in that direction.

Well, I'm sure there are hundreds of authors who are scientists and write about dystopian futures.

    Here is one:

    Paul Parsons
Dr Paul Parsons is a quantitative analyst with the British bookmaker BetVictor, where he applies statistical models, sophisticated software tools and eight years of university maths and science education to figure out who is going to win the 3 o’clock at Ascot. In a previous life he was editor of the award-winning BBC science and technology magazine Focus and managing editor of BBC Sky At Night magazine. He has been a science writer and journalist for over twenty years, contributing to New Scientist, the Guardian, Daily Telegraph, Men’s Health, National Geographic and many others, and is the author of several books including The Science of Doctor Who, Science 1001, How to Destroy the Universe: And 34 Other Really Interesting Uses of Physics, Science: In 100 Key Breakthroughs, The Rough Guide to Surviving the End of the World, The Periodic Table, 3-Minute Stephen Hawking and 50 Science Ideas You Really Need to Know. He is also a fellow of the Royal Statistical Society and a consultant to Guinness World Records.

    Thank you very much intranuclear.

I will peruse that book : I am sure it will of much interest for me.

However, the book I have in mind was written as the result of direct ET inspiration. I am quite sure too (for some reason, lol) the author was a MIT graduate

Again, thank's intranuclear, and thank you too thepainterdoug.

I am quite sure the scientist/inventor is male, and the nature of the inventions/adaptions was a full suite of technologies that could be employed to facilitate a sort of 'off the grid' survival

He was Mathew Stein, an engineer inspired by dreams of a catastrophe that shut down all things electrical. If I recalled correctly, he had no interest in such a project before the dreams and a voice told him to write it. He even protested he had no knowledge of how to survive and there should be better people to write the book. The book was very well written.

The book is called "When technology fails"

Quote Joe Firmage is a failed entrepreneur and fraudster, fudgepacker, and Alien Abduction Victim and UFO Crackpot. He is well known for claiming to have been visited by space aliens in his bedroom who then "zapped" him with a ball of blue glowing energy, experimented on him, then sexually abused him. He is also known for blowing millions of dollars of other peoples money on UFO research and his failed companies and projects, for which he subsequently claimed he had been under mind control of space aliens, who turned him gay, and made him take advantage of other people in order to spread their gay alien manifesto called "The Truth".[1]

He founded several companies, all of which went bankrupt, and from which he was fired after claiming to be under the remote mind control of space alien

Thanks for the recommendation of Orobo.

Let me add this : what my son told me chimes with the claims of the single most credible UFO witness I know of (Dan Sherman). Sherman, if you recall, claimed his psychic training was directed toward a time when standard communications would no longer work. The cause of this future failure was not revealed to him, but like everyone else his speculation moves in the obvious directions.

IMO what makes Sherman so compelling is his willingness to admit to much he does not know. Also, the detail in his book is extraordinary, and would require some real genius to invent. Moreover, Sherman does not seem to impressed by himself, and has faded from the scene without any obvious effort to make himself some kind of authority.

Glad you were able to find out whom the guy was. Interesting topic. I have been preparing things as well after having some intense dreams.
I have been gathering resources in the forms of Ebooks, video tutorials to help with the transitions and forming of communities and local horticulture put simply.

Wow Bill, I remember many years ago when I saw this video, it did not impact me much, and now, having just watched it again, I am blown away by Dan Sherman. To me he comes across as another totally genuine and insightful man just as Bob Lazar, and now almost 12 years after this video was published, I am able to really understand it. I am humbled yet again by the incredible service you and even Kerry have done in bringing this kind of "true" education, and part of me is angry, yet another part understands that not everyone may be ready or even care or want this level of information.
    Thank you immensely!

I got myself a copy of this book, there is something about it which resonates with me, it is very good and it thoroughly covers every aspect of existence in highly practical and readily useful terms.
I am not a huge book buyer, and my partner scoffed and called me a 'Cardigan' (her term for tweedy, academic bores) but I have it right here in my collection.
Also, I have been experiencing dystopian dreams myself, with cataracts opening and gushing volumes of water, I am flying in all of these dreams very comfortably, just thought I'd add this.
