    Default Exceptionally Powerful Volcanic Explosions and Activities

    Another ‘dormant’ volcano comes to life – Video

    by Robert June 27, 2019

    Could affect climate.

    After lying dormant for 95 years, Raikoke Volcano on a small island off Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula just awoke in an enormous fashion.

    Images captured by astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) and also by radiometers and spectroradiometers of NASA satellites, show an ash plume rising as much as 10 miles (16 km) into the sky. Volcanologists say that ash plumes that high could affect the climate.

    Raikoke last erupted in 1924, and before that in 1778.

    Ulawun volcano erupts in Papua New Guinea, sends residents fleeing - ash sent over 13km into the air

    Papua New Guinea's volatile Ulawun volcano - designated one of the world's most hazardous - erupted on Wednesday (June 26), spewing lava high in the air and sending residents fleeing.

    A pilot for Niugini Helicopters flying near the crater witnessed a column of lava spurting vertically into the equatorial sky, along with ash that has been belching since early morning.

    Ulawun, on the remote Bismarck Archipelago chain, is listed as one of 16 "Decade Volcanoes" targeted for research because they pose a significant risk of large, violent eruptions.

    Witnesses said lava had cut off the main highway in north of the island.

    "The volcanic activity at Mount Ulawun began at 7am this morning after slight rumbling and light emission," Leo Porikura, an official with the West New Britain Disaster Office, told AFP earlier.

    "The Rabaul Volcano Observatory has declared a stage one alert warning of a possible eruption."

    Witnesses had reported ash spewing out of the 2,334m summit, sending trails spanning high overhead.

    "The sky has turned black," said Kingsly Quou, manager of the nearby Mavo Estates palm plantation.

    Quou said that villagers living at the base of the volcano had already been evacuated and he and his colleagues were gathering their belongings.

    Japanese satellite imagery and sources on the ground had shown sulphur dioxide and now volcanic ash drifting from the crater.

    Australia's Bureau of Meteorology said the ash reached more than 13km into the air.

    The bureau's Darwin Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre issued a "red" warning to airlines, indicating the eruption was imminent, although there is not believed to be an immediate threat for flight routes.

    Thousands of people live in the shadow of Ulawun, despite it being one of the most active volcanoes in the country.

    Porikura said people living in the vicinity of the volcano had been instructed to move away to safer areas and a disaster team had been dispatched.

    "The disaster team will liaise with the local community, local businesses and local level government authorities to prepare for a possible eruption," he said.

    "Three crucial priority areas being addressed include transport plan, care centre preparations and getting the communities in the high-risk areas to prepare for an evacuation," Porikura said.

    The nearby Rabaul Volcano Observatory said emissions from the volcano were getting darker, indicating a higher ash content - which can cause breathing problems, eye irritation and skin irritation because of the high acid content.

    A team of experts had visited earlier this month and reported the volcano was "quiet" adding "there is no indication of any change in its state of unrest." The ash emissions had been proceeded by an increase in seismic activity, Porikura said.

    Unsure where this pair would lie on the explosivity index, but these seem quite significant plumes. And occurring so close together, and both on the Ring of Fire...

    Powerful high-level eruptions have been ongoing at Raikoke volcano, Russia ever-since the massive unexpected explosion that took place on June 21-22.

    According to the Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Tokyo, that eruption sent volcanic ash to an estimated 38,000 feet (11.6 km) above sea level, which is now shifting at 20 kts in a NNE direction.

    ~~~~~~~
    On June 18, multiple major-level eruptions took place at Mexico’s Popocatépetl volcano in just 24 hours, continuing the stratovolcano’s powerful uptick of late.
    According to the Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Washington, the largest eruption fired a thick ash column to an estimated 42,000 feet (12.8 km) above sea level, and comfortably into the stratosphere.
    And on June 9, Sumatra’s incredibly active Sinabung Volcano exploded in spectacular fashion again, sending volcanic ash high into the atmosphere. The explosion also coincided with a minor G1 geomagnetic storm.
    The Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Darwin is warning of a thick ash plume rising to a lofty 55,000 feet (16.7 km).
    ~~~~~~~

    And another one just popped….

    Manam Volcano just Exploded to 50,000 feet (15.2 km)

    June 28, 2019 Cap Allon

    Yet another high-impact eruption took place at Manam volcano, Papua New Guinea on Friday June 28 — following the previous day’s explosion to 12.2 km, and the general uptick which began last year.

    A thick volcanic ash plume, rising to at least 50,000 feet (15.2 km) above sea level, was spotted by the Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Darwin at 06:59 UTC on June 28 using HIMAWARI-8 satellite imagery.

    The eruption comes hot on the heels of yesterday’s ejection to 40,000 feet (12.2 km).

    With all this volcanic debris in the atmosphere will our fellow cAGW believers now say ‘global cooling’?

    Semeru Volcano Eruption Update; Explosive Eruptions Occurs, Tall Ash Plume

    Dec 4, 2021

    GeologyHub

    The Semeru volcano in Indonesia just produced its largest volcanic eruption since record keeping began. This sent a plume of ash, sending a plume of ash 15,000 meters or 49,000 feet into the atmosphere. This ash subsequently rained down on the island of Java, leading to near blackout conditions as the day seemingly turned to night. What had just occurred was a large "pelean" style eruption caused by the collapse of the lava dome at Semeru. So, what will happen next? What evacuations should be ordered? This video will answer these two questions and discuss the ongoing eruption.

    12km high ash cloud from Tongan volcanic eruption continues to spread

    RNZ
    Wed, 29 Dec 2021 11:07 UTC

    This picture taken on December 21, 2021 shows white gaseous clouds rising from the Hunga Ha'apai eruption seen from the Patangata coastline near Tongan capital Nuku'alofa. © Mary Lyn Fonua

    The Hunga Tonga Hunga Ha'apai volcano continues to erupt intermittently, and ash has been detected in all directions up to 30km away.

    The head of Tonga Geological Services, Taaniela Kula, said that the ash cloud had risen to heights of 12km and the direction of ash had varied with the wind conditions.

    "On Tuesday, ash was drifting east but shifted directions last night to north east and has continued to drift in a northerly direction today," he said.

    Overall, the amount of ash, steam and gas being spewed from the volcano has reduced, in comparison to last week, Kula said.

    He noted that the volcano was about 60km away from uninhabited areas, and that no earthquakes had been detected on their seismometers.
    This indicated that the magma chamber, which is feeding the eruption, is unlikely to be deeper than 7km below the ocean floor.

    Currently the danger grade for the ash fall is orange, with red being the most severe. While no one has reported ash falling on houses yet, Kula advised that the public should take measures to protect their rainwater catchment and storage systems, should ash make landfall.

    Kula said that people need to make sure they continue to sanitise and maintain their rainwater tanks, to stop the growth of a particular algae bloom that results from ash contamination.

    Flight from NZ cancelled
    Meanwhile, the flight from New Zealand that was scheduled to arrive on Tuesday was cancelled due the volcanic activity at Hunga Tonga Hunga Ha'apai.

    Matangi Tonga online reports the flight was meant to bring in the funeral cortege of the late Lord Ma'afu.

    Tonga's Deputy Prime Minister, Lord Ma'afu, died on 12 December at the Auckland City Hospital, New Zealand.

    Air New Zealand's flight to Tonga on 21 December was also cancelled due to the same volcanic activity.

    ... Underwater volcano eruption caused global “dimming” that deprived crops of sunlight; more famine and starvation to come

    Thursday, November 10, 2022 by: Ethan Huff

    This article may contain statements that reflect the opinion of the author

    (Natural News) In January, an underwater volcano in the South Pacific called Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai erupted, sending a massive ash plume up into the sky where it reached 187,000 feet*. The result was a cloud of darkness that created a global “diming” effect that will probably be felt for years to come with reduced crop yields.

    You see, crops need unimpeded sunlight to reach their full potential. And all that persistent ash and water vapor that was left behind from the eruption prevented that sunlight from reaching the earth’s surface.

    The Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai eruption is said to be the first ever recorded that broke through the third layer of the atmosphere, called the mesosphere. (Related: Hundreds of climate scientists have called for Bill Gates’ “sun dimming” projects to be immediately halted.)
    “It’s an extraordinary result as we have never seen a cloud of any type this tall before,” said Dr. Simon Proud, who authored a study about the eruption.
    “Furthermore, the ability to estimate the height in the way we did, using the parallax method, is only possible now that we have good satellite coverage. It wouldn’t have been possible a decade or so ago.”

    Volcanos are much bigger contributors to “global warming” than human activity

    More energy than the Tsar Bomba, the most powerful nuclear bomb ever detonated, was released by Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai, which blasted 20,000 Olympic swimming pools’ worth of water straight into the stratosphere.

    This massive atmospheric river, so to speak, blanketed portions of the earth with sun-blocking moisture, not to mention all the ash and other particulate debris that went soaring.
    “Due to the ozone layer absorbing solar ultraviolet radiation, temperatures in the stratosphere and mesosphere actually increase with height,” reports explain about the phenomenon that occurred.
    It has been said that a single volcanic eruption blasts more “warming” chemicals into the air than several years’ worth of humans driving vehicles. This makes volcanos the number-one cause of “global warming.”

    Volcanic eruptions are also a major cause of crop-destroying climate change, it would seem, as they interfere with natural sunlight reaching the surface of the earth as intended.

    It is important to point this out because too many climate fanatics are oblivious to the fact that nature itself is engaging in climate-destructive behavior – so should we ban nature and force it to go “green?”

    Such a question of course makes no sense, but it puts into perspective all the climate lunacy that passes as “science” these days – lunacy that is paid for with your tax dollars, by the way.

    The Hunga Tonga and Hunga Ha’apai eruption reportedly caused the island kingdom of Tonga to become blanketed in toxic ash that poisoned local drinking water supplies and wiped out at least two villages. Crops were also destroyed in large quantities.

    Ocean waves from the eruption also triggered an environmental disaster at an oil tanker offloading near Lima, Peru, which generated a massive oil slick along the coast.
    “Just think of all that CO2 being released,” noted a commenter about the greenhouse gases emitted by the Hunga Tonga and Hunga Ha’apai eruption. “It really puts the tiny contributions of humans into perspective when compared to nature.”
    “Did nobody tell the volcano that it must pay a load of tax if it wants to do that?” joked another person.
    “All of this contributes to natural climate changes and there’s nothing we can do about any of it,” noted someone else. “It’s ridiculous to think that we can stop the climate from changing all on its own. We have to just accept it.”
