Not very appropriate, if I may say, and maybe not very kind. There are Avalon threads asking for help with all kind of things — large and small. Some well-loved members have suffered greatly in all kinds of ways, and the support has always been there.

This is a very generous, sensitive and mutually supportive community. If you'd like some assistance, advice, or just plain friendship, if you're having a hard day, week or year, just ask, and it's right here for you — and your family.

    Oh no, Onawah,

Sending a prayer your way. You don't need this on top of everything else!

Onawah lives alone and can barely walk, if at all. Not enough hardship for you? Please provide a list of what does qualify for prayer, in your judgment.

Terrible about your friend's daughter but suffering isn't a contest with the most serious problem winning the 'award' of prayer. Now don't be so damned grumpy.

    hi Nat

sorry to hear about your ankle. drats!

i credit you with telling me about the infrared heating pad, and it's been pretty helpful for my troublesome left knee!

i wonder if it might help your ankle too.

the one i got off amazon was right around $50, and i believe it was the cheapest available. it comes with a cord sort of thing so that you can secure the pad around knees and ankles and elbows etc.

let me know if you want more info on the brand and so forth.

Hey Mike, Yes, I credit my mini BioMat for helping me get some much needed sleep last night.
I'm supposed to be icing the ankle and that does help, but for the rest of my aching body, the BioMat is always great.
However, I paid $700 for mine! Brand new though, and larger than yours, though not full length--from about the top of my head to my knees, but I don't think I could take the full length one, as it gets really warm.
And thanks, but I'm happy with mine.
What I could use at this point, though, is an ice pack that would wrap around my ankle, if there is such a thing.
Keeping my ankle cold isn't that easy, unless I just soak it in a bowl of ice water, which perhaps I will summon up enough temerity to do before long.
My foot is alarmingly swollen now and that would probably do the trick.
    But... !!

Moonlight, you might want to consider that you know next to nothing about the person (me) or the prevailing circumstances, before you deal out your admonishments.

More thanks to Chris, Bill, Autumn, Mike and Franny. Much appreciated. (And good point, Franny!)

Try a bag of frozen corn. That will wrap around your ankle after it's been out for a few minutes.

Ha! I was just about to suggest that as well. I've had broken and badly sprained ankles, knees and foot. A couple bags of frozen corn or peas works wonders.

Castor oil helps, DMSO too, and both mixed together are even better, been using them for years...um, decades.

Moonlight I feel pain in this post. I feel it wanting healing and I send you my love too. Singable songs help me and so I am posting a couple for every ONE who seems to be experiencing something devastating. What i do is take a singable song and put it on loop and sing along, don't stop singing until you I am relieved of a burden. That has been so healing.

And I pray the 23 rd psalm as a mantra. I just don't understand the pain and suffering in this world. But I will accept that it is so I will learn something about feeling WITH the troubles and also feeling we are not alone. It's also REALLY about being brave enough to start over with our assumptions about life and also HEAL so we can show others how IMO. It can make sense to say we are not alone but when we LIVE in that knowing, there is so much comfort. We need so much inner strength to face the world and we need our inner POWER.

These are on my list. Maybe there is one you know? By the way, I have NO PROBLEM with calling on God but I HAVE NO IDEA "who" I am praying too. That does not mean GOD is not with me. I feel GOD any how. Holding out for grace and mercy! Maggie

Can you prop your leg up and continue your work? I put a hassock under a table for when I broke my ankle, it was at about the same level as the chair so it worked nicely.

It seems to take 4-6 days (for me) to show a noticeable difference and continues to improve from there.

I tend to be so focused on my work when I'm being creative, I forget to be mindful of my body, but I need to work on that.
4-6 days is do-able! I will shoot for that!
