To me at my age this is totally ludicrous.

Way back then it was "cool" not now.....!

It's ludicrous at my age too

I don't know how cool or uncool it is, but I've started the thing so I'll keep doubling and tripling down on it I spose.

I'd rather read this than the Q thread, for what it's worth.

It's a horrible thread, I know. I hope I've done it on purpose

Hey, it's silly threads like this that keep it all from becoming WAY too serious!
Otherwise, I don't think I'd be able to stick with it.
And Mike always starts by far the best silly threads

Gal Gadot and Chris Pine look like they'd be a lot of fun to work with, which helps put them on my celebrity favorites list:

just superficially speaking anyway, kate beckinsdale is as close to perfect as you can possibly get.
Yes, she's stunning. But she has a TV show, The Widow, where she sucks the light out of the screen. I don't know if she's being directed to play it with a flat affect, or if that's her own inability to create a character the audience cares about.

Now Charlize Theron has never been a crush for me, but her ability to create characters is possibly without peer. Charlize is a Leo Sun sign (as is Beckinsale). Leos are known for being extroverted show-offs (e.g., Schwarzenegger), but it's interesting how many are great at creating subtle characters to completely inhabit: Dustin Hoffman, Sean Penn, Robert De Niro, Ed Norton, Kevin Spacey, Hilary Swank, Kyra Sedgwick...

Nat when i was a little boy i would watch the wonder woman series starring lynda carter. and i was f#cking enchanted. my mother still makes fun of me. i was so drunk with awe and wonder that i'd sit there almost catatonically, my face mere inches from the tv screen. her beauty and grace practically hypnotized me. it was lynda, of course, but also the uniform..and all it's not so vaguely implied sexuality.

as an adult (at least on paper) my wonder woman thing still persists. Gal Gadot has this unique beauty that is at once otherworldly and accessible.

    adding her to my list.

she smiles with nothing held back. she's not afraid of emotion. it's part of her magic. her eyes are dancing and there's a sincerity and an endearing lack of awareness of her own beauty. you can't fake that.

good speech too. i kept waiting for it to embarrass me but it never did

marlon brando is likely the most beautiful man the world has ever produced.

i was watching an interview of his, an old one, from the dick cavett show, and he's aged and balding and a little pudgy, but still completely and totally magnetic.

when the man smiles, time stops.

Hanna Schygulla. Not a household name unless you are familiar with the films of Rainer Werner Fassbinder in which she made many stellar appearances. Perhaps her most stunning acting performance was in "The Marriage of Maria Braun."

And then there was "The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant" - a strange torturous lesbian drama set against some far out fashions and incredible cinematography

But her most stunning and most emotionally moving movie was the 1974 "Effi Briest". I wish there were more clips of this film on Youtube.

I knew I was forgetting someone--Brando! Totally agree...
He knew how to project a mood like no one ever had before.
James Dean took up with that where Brandon left off.

    Mike, you are a treasure

A splendid light-hearted thread - just what we need.

Oh boy, where does one start. Well, my first was Olivia Hussey when I saw her in Death on the Nile (1978) - to me an intoxicating beauty. But perhaps preceeded only very slightly by Kate Bush and Debbie Harry at around the same time. We'd only been back from Hong Kong for a few weeks and the enduring memory of a twenty foot tall Debbie Harry peering down from a routemaster bus poster advert was quite something to this impressionable 8 or 9 year old

Audrey Hepburn - not just for her remarkable grace and beauty but for her resistance activities during WW2 in Holland.
Katie Jane Garside - a truly delicate and remarkably original songwriter, poet and artist. There's someone I'd really like to meet.
    Nicole Kidman
Camilla Arfwedson - maybe not so terribly well known but, just really a wonderful actress too, for me.
    Natalie Portman
    Rachel Weisz
    Naomi Watts
Jessica Lange - she sealed the deal after I was blown away by her performance as Blanche Dubois in 'A Streetcar Named Desire' on stage in London in 1998.
Anna Friel - a real delight who I did actually meet, albeit briefly: I guarded her handbag for her as she needed to go powder her nose in the ladies (must have been 2002 at the then Turks Head pub in Belgravia).

And mention does need to be made for my friend Serena, who I love to bits, and really should be better known than she is, seen here, performing 'Starlight':

“If a man does not keep pace with [fall into line with] his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.” - Thoreau

Yes, Brando kind of reinvented leading man for the 1950s, influencing James Dean, Michael Parks, even Clint Eastwood. Here's Burt Reynold's hilarious impression of Brando:

I find it interesting how different people's taste can be. Reading through this thread I found myself many times thinking...."really?"

Lately I barely pay attention to the hollywood bread and circus show....so am largely out of the loop.

But I must say the character of Jamie from Outlander is a pretty good all round package...lol.

Not sure how to post a pic...I tried....but embarassed to say after so many years...i still can't do it.
