Default Vietnam, and some personal improvement in 2020

    Hello all.

The other night I caught on TV, Vietnam in HD .

In 1970 ,by way of a lottery number, I missed being drafted for that war.
I often think how different my life would have been if that ball came up a low number, rather than the high 300 or so number I got, sparing me that ugly reality

That was the last time the USA had a military draft and 58 thousand young guys of my generation were lost, and thousands of others returned home damaged in ways I was spared
    I am grateful since!
I today thank and appreciate all who went and did what I didn't have to do.

So I consider myself blessed and in "gravy time" so to speak , and have been striving ever since to leave a good and constructive accounting of my time .

One of the things I d like to improve is the proper application of language and it’s meaning.

To know and apply the difference between ; I know, I have proof, I have witnessed , I read, I believe, I wish , I think, I assume, I surmise ,i heard, I hypothesize , and so on.

Today I see much confusion, wishful thinking ,modern speak , mis communication and disinformation due to the disregard for language and its meaning.

In 2020, I hope to continue to think and speak as clear as possible.
This small step alone would be a great thing in clearing confusion in my life as well as eliminating argument with others , and I invite all others to join me

And please feel free to list some of yours as well.

I sign my e mails off with the phrase, “ Time is short” No one knows if tomorrow comes.

Bill, you have done a great thing with Avalon and Thank you and all the moderators

    Love and Friendship to all

    Safe and Happy 2020 !

On a personal note, I was drafted into the US Army in 1970. My number was 176. I was inducted into the army on September 23, 1970 in Oakland, CA. Long story short, they made me an infantry soldier, I went airborne and ended up in the 82nd Airborne Div., in Fort Bragg NC. My good fortune was that I was not sent to Vietnam. I dodged that bullet, so to speak. Instead I jumped out of planes and helicopters and played war “games”.

For over a year I lived and worked with many men who had come back from one or more tours of duty as infantry in Nam. Many good men, some not so good. All terribly affected by that Police Action in myriad ways.

You are a gifted artist and a genuine, caring person. You were fortunate not to be drafted. Feel no guilt or such about that. I was drafted, but fortunate not to be sent off to Vietnam to do the bidding of our handlers. I feel like I won a lottery in that regard.
