    The situation in Iran has caused some to wonder if the virus has mutated to a deadlier version. (Or, whether this is a different bioweapon strain now targeted at Iran)

    Up to 50 die in Iran as weak public health systems struggle to contain deadly virus

    War-torn public health systems in Iraq and Afghanistan struggle to prevent an outbreak

    Coronavirus fatalities rocketed in Iran, with at least 12 and as many as 50 reported deaths from the malady which is penetrating the Middle East.

    The illness, first encountered in China, has proven unusually lethal in Iran. The first cases were reported on 19 February, with 47 patients so far confirmed carrying the virus. That marks an official Iranian mortality rate of 25 per cent, far greater than the 3.2 per cent reported in China.

    Research suggests the disparity could be attributed to access to differing levels of nutrition, housing and quality healthcare. But experts say it could also potentially point to the emergence of a new and more deadly mutation of the virus, though health officials said last week there was no evidence the virus was changing. John Paget, an epidemiologist at the Netherlands Institute for Public Health Research, suggested that the Iranians could just be undercounting the number of cases.

    “It’s very worrisome,” Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization, told reporters on Friday about the spread of the disease beyond China. “These dots are actually very concerning,” he said referring to a map showing the spread of the illness to new clusters.

    The outbreak of the respiratory disease in Iran has dominated local headlines and news broadcasts, sparking a fresh wave of dread in a country already hit over the last year by various natural and manmade calamities including earthquakes, floods, political unrest, economic decline, and a near-war with the United States that resulted in the downing of a Ukrainian passenger jet by the country’s own armed forces.

    Schools, universities and cultural centres across 14 Iranian provinces have been closed.

    The spread of the disease is also causing a wave of fear across the Middle East, with airport employees donning surgical masks and gloves, and commuters avoiding public transportation and physical contact with friends. Ancient religious pilgrimage routes have been shut down and aviation links have been closed.

    Oman suspended all flights to Iran, while Qatar Airways announced a 14-day quarantine period for anyone traveling to the country from Iran or South Korea, where the virus has afflicted at least 600 people. And the health ministry of Israel, which has diagnosed multiple cases, announced on Sunday that any foreigner who had visited Japan or South Korea in the last weeks would be barred from entering.

    In Bahrain, a single case was a bus driver who managed to drive children to three schools on Sunday; all three schools have been shuttered for two weeks. Kuwait said three patients diagnosed with the virus had all arrived from Iran in recent days.

    Cases have also been reported in the United Arab Emirates, but perhaps most ominously in Iraq and Afghanistan, both war-torn countries with dilapidated public health systems ill-prepared to contain the deadly virus.

    As with many matters in Iran, coronavirus has raised questions about government transparency. The outbreak in Iran has been traced to the shrine and seminary city of Qom, a major global crossroads for Shia pilgrims and students, as well as a pillar of the country’s clerical political elite.

    While the country’s deputy health minister Iraj Harichi said 12 people had died from the virus, a lawmaker from Qom claimed 50 people had died. When his claim was challenged by the health ministry, he said he passed on the names of 40 of the dead to Mr Harichi.

    “Now, we await his resignation,” lawmaker Ahmad Amirabadi-Farahani said, according to the semi-official Iranian Labour News Agency.

    Iranian officials quickly sought to cast blame for the outbreak, alleging that illegal migrants from Afghanistan, Pakistan and China had brought in the virus, even as the first reported cases were in a city 600 miles from the country’s eastern borders.

    Even as some officials sought to highlight the risks of the virus, broadcast media downplayed the epidemic, with a state TV presenter saying “fear of coronavirus inflicts more damage than the virus itself.”

    Iraq had closed borders to Iran on 20 February to halt any spread of the virus. But Iraqi officials cited by local media said an Iranian seminary student in the shrine city of Najaf who had arrived before the travel restrictions had been diagnosed with the virus.

    Woman wears protective mask while walking along the side of a street in the Iranian capital Tehran

    At least three Afghans in the country’s western Herat province, which neighbours Iran, have been diagnosed with the illness.

    Despite the closing of the borders with Iran, public health officials worry that the thousands who traverse the region’s porous frontiers via smuggling routes could help spread the virus, which like the flu can be transmitted via sneezing or coughing.

    “Another major problem in Afghanistan is illegal border-crossing,” said Wahidullah Mayar, the spokesman for the Afghan health ministry.

    The health systems of Iraq and Afghanistan have been devastated by years of war that have caused chronic shortages of utilities and an exodus of medical professionals.

    Armenia on Monday announced that it was the latest country to close its land border with Iran following similar closures by Pakistan, Afghanistan and Turkey, which has suspended air and rail links to its eastern neighbour. Along with Georgia, Yerevan officials also imposed flight restrictions over fears the virus could spread to the Caucasus region.

    But Mr Paget, the epidemiologist, suggested that public health offiicials and policymakers were overreacting. “There’s too much panic,” he said. “They did the right strategy to try to contain it, but it’s not working. Transmissibility is super high. So we have to change strategy. We need to accept that this is now part of our ecosystem. It’s probably going to be there every winter with all the other viruses.”

    Remember the movie War Games. It's on Prime, and we just watched it w/ my kids the other night. Remember as the computer Joshua ran through different nuclear war scenarios and the screens showed bunches of arched trajectories going back and forth across the globe?

    Imagine it now with bioweapons.

    That's what I thought of when you posted that, Bill.

    This crisis is showing that different life threatening causes have come into play.
    One can only wonder why Rappoport continues so stubbornly blaming the pollution in China for the outbreak. As a highly intelligent individual who must know better he probably has his reasons to push that line. Remember that this is an invisible war between 2 nuclear powers and both sides need excuses to cover up their dirty acts and not turning to a nuclear exchange. -- Phillipe

    No need to wonder about why he sticks to his story. The guy has THE most narcissistic energy. Watch one of his on stage performances. I am speaking as someone who was a huge fan and followed him very early on.

    He is probably living for clicks now. Sad and all too common. If he is making money stating an extreme point of view, don't expect him to change his mind in the face of ever mounting evidence. Sad. So much tainted info out there.

    I doubt if the air quality is poor, or if there's any 5G at all, in Codogno, Italy (population 16,000).

    Symptoms caused by air pollution, or 5G, aren't infectious.

    But — of course! — both will compromise the immune system. So that's a factor. But not a cause of cases in 36 countries, arising all at once.
    JR is not taking the Princess cruise ship into consideration in his theory. Although the air quality may not be the best, there is no 5G on the ship. The recycled air would have contributed to the the spread of a virus as it has done on many cruises but not the effects of 5G.
    Dana Ashlie's video report on the 5G implications of the Wuhan virus discussed that the cruise ship parked in Yokohama does have 5G satellite communication on the high seas, and certainly much of Japan already has 5G working.

    It sort of mystifies me that JR writes so much defense proclaiming no virus exists? I wish he would just back off or regroup? Sure that boy cried wolf so many times one doubted the wolf exists.The wolf may have shown itself and .... NOW WHAT?

    Several people are shown collapsing in Korea.

    People collapsing on streets in Seoul just like in Wuhan
    South Korea has 5G installed everywhere as far as I know.

    Quote Washington State releases hundreds of people from “public health supervision” over the coronavirus; tests NONE of them for the virus
    Monday, February 24, 2020 by: Mike Adams

    (Natural News) This tells you everything you need to know about how U.S. states plan to handle the coronavirus outbreak: Refrain from testing anyone and then report “zero community outbreaks.”

    Last week, the State of Washington was monitoring 794 people for coronavirus symptoms. Yet by Friday of last week, the state had only tested a grand total of 28 people for the virus.

    Today, the 794 number has fallen to 582, according to the Washington Dept. of Health website.

    This means over 200 people have been released from “public health supervision,” yet the total number of people tested for the coronavirus in Washington remains at 28.

    In other words, zero new people were tested.

    So we now have states that are releasing hundreds of people from supervision without testing any of them.

    People with no symptoms aren’t being tested, but the virus spreads in people who show no symptoms…
    This is all taking place in an environment when we already know:

    The virus can be carried by people who show no symptoms.
    The incubation period of the virus is up to 27 days, not merely 14.
    The symptoms of the virus can be easily confused with pneumonia, the common cold or other mild infections.
    South Korea has managed to test thousands of people for the virus, which is how they’ve now discovered over 842 infections there, a number that has truly exploded over the last five days.

    The State of Washington knows about 794 people who might be infected, yet they’ve only tested 28?

    If South Korea had taken the same approach, they could be reporting only 30 infections today instead of 842. If you don’t test people, you don’t “confirm” infections.

    The question is not how many people have been confirmed infected, the question is how many infected people have NOT been tested.

    Does Washington State already have more infections than South Korea?
    My best guess is that the State of Washington has more infections than South Korea. We won’t know for sure until the state decides to start testing people, and they apparently have no desire to conduct such tests in the first place.

    What’s truly astonishing here is that every U.S. state has law enforcement crime labs with PCR / genetic analysis equipment for solving crimes. Yet none of them are using that technology to screen people for coronavirus infections.

    Why not?

    The answer, of course, is because they don’t want to find any infections in the first place.

    It brings up an even bigger question: Is the CDC ordering U.S. states to halt all testing? Where are the CDC’s replacement test kits that were supposed to fix the broken diagnostic kits shipped out on Feb. 5th?

    Why aren’t U.S. states using crime lab equipment to run coronavirus tests?

    Why are states like Hawaii reporting that they’ve tested ZERO people for coronavirus?

    Why are 47 U.S. states conducting no tests at all?

    Why does Google keep linking to the WHO, which is run by communist China and is known to be a criminally negligent propaganda hub of disinformation and pro-China lies?

    And why does a U.S. State Dept. employee in Japan think that infections can be blocked on airplanes by using plastic sheeting and duct tape, which is what allowed him to shove infected passengers on the same plane as non-infected passengers, resulting in at least 25 new infections.

    Finally, will the United States be any more honest than China when it comes to reporting the truth about the coronavirus?

    So far, the answer seems to be a definite no.

    Interesting. I had read last week that it did not use 5G on board the ship, but it seems they're using it. Thanks for the update.

    China coronavirus hype straight out of the CDC flu playbook
    by Jon Rappaport
    Feb 24 2020
    https://blog.nomorefakenews.com/2020...-flu-playbook/

    "In today’s episode of Numbskulls and Deceivers in Medical Science, I ask the question: Are Chinese researchers copying an old CDC scam, or have they independently come up with their own lies which happen to mirror CDC hype?

    In my series on the China epidemic (archive here), I’ve pointed out that pneumonia—the key indicator of the “coronavirus”—can be caused by many other factors:

    Other microbes, fungi, toxic pollution, etc.

    And Chinese authorities no longer require direct testing for the coronavirus. Instead, CT scans of the chest are employed. If these scans show signs of pneumonia, the “coronavirus epidemic” label is absurdly applied to the patient.

    I’ve also pointed out that, historically, pneumonia has been a major disease in China. Long before “the emergence of the new human coronavirus,” people in China have been dying of pneumonia at the rate of about 300,000 a year. Now those people, passing away from the disease in 2020, can be falsely called “deadly epidemic cases.” How convenient.

    Well, it turns out the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has been running its own pneumonia scam for a long time.

    Some years ago, when I was writing about the flu, I received emails from Peter Doshi and Martin Maloney. They fed me data from the CDC’s own charts detailing flu deaths in the US. And they pointed out the lies.

    Doshi went on to write an analysis for the journal BMJ Online (December 2005). Here is a key quote from his report:

    “[According to CDC statistics], ‘influenza and pneumonia’ took 62,034 lives in 2001—61,777 of which were attributable to pneumonia and 257 to flu, and in only 18 cases was the flu virus positively identified.”

    You might want to chew on that sentence for a while.

    You see, the CDC has created one overall category that combines both flu and pneumonia deaths. THEY CALL THIS CATEGORY “FLU.” Why do they do this? Why do they deceptively assert the pneumonia deaths are complications stemming from the flu? Because they want to sell doctors and the public on the “dangers of the flu.”

    Pneumonia has a number of non-flu causes.

    But even worse, in all the 2001 flu and pneumonia deaths, only 18 revealed the presence of an influenza virus.

    Therefore, the CDC couldn’t truthfully say that more than 18 people died of influenza in 2001. Not 36,000 deaths, the old CDC PR statistic. 18 deaths.

    Doshi continued his assessment of published CDC flu-death statistics: “Between 1979 and 2001, [CDC] data show an average of 1348 [flu] deaths per year (range 257 to 3006).” These figures refer to flu separated out from pneumonia.

    This low death toll would drop MUCH lower, if you added the need to confirm the presence of a flu virus in those cases.

    Clearly, the CDC combines flu and pneumonia in one category, and calls it “flu,” in order to lie about the number of flu deaths in the US, and thus push the flu vaccine.

    So we have two fake hustles, years apart, in the US and China, both based on the deceptive use of pneumonia.

    Liars tend to tell the same kinds of lies, over and over. Medical liars often import diseases which have nothing to do with their claims, in order to build up case numbers and pump up threats and fears.

    And then sell toxic drugs and vaccines, as solutions.

    I’d be quite happy to offer this article and its blunt facts to the New York Times, or the Washington Post, or CBS, NBC, or ABC, providing they assure me they’ll print it and then force their hungriest hounds to track down and indict the high-level deceivers, by name, who are pushing these criminal falsehoods. Ordinarily, I would charge $10000000000000 for the article, but in this case I’ll settle for a six-hour, face to face, live streaming interview with the head of the CDC, in prime time."

    (Rappaport keeps on bringing up important factors which most are overlooking, and imho, it's helping to keep things in perspective, even if he's not 100% correct about everything.
    And it's likely we won't know until much later, as in similar cases, exactly what was true and what was false and by that time, if all goes as planned, there will be lots more distractions, so no one will be paying much attention.
    It's a wise move to study the similar cases and draw what conclusions can logically be drawn, and J.R. is more dedicated to doing that than anyone else I've seen.
    Personally I think we owe him a debt of gratitude, particularly since he's in his 80s and could be taking it easy if he was just indifferent.
    What if one of the primary reasons for this cononavirus narrative is to distract everyone from other, very important developments such as the push for mandatory vaccines, the case of Julian Assange, and various other issues which are holding our essential freedoms in the balance?
    It would certainly be excellent timing, wouldn't it?)
    It seems like stating the obvious, but then the elite agenda is getting more and more obvious all the time.)

    And yes the data of Rappoport is hard hitting. The man has fought a lifelong battle against the abuse of the vaccination industry. He is right on that line and has it miss on other lines. Several life threathening dangers for weakened populations are exploding simultaneously in this crisis.
    Is Rappoport telling that the scientists are lying when they find indications of manipulated viruses that must be bio weapons ?
    And he is not supporting his thesis by explaining how the pneumonia epidemic spreads ( a bacteria). I have learned that bronchitis turning in pneumonia is preceded by the flew, a virus. If true why does he not consider that ? It is crucial to do so but he doesn't.

    US senators will be briefed tomorrow on coronavirus

    All US senators will be briefed Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. in a classified setting on the novel coronavirus, two sources with knowledge of the plans tell CNN.

    One source said that the briefing will be in a classified setting because the senators who are organizing it wanted to be prepared in case a senator asks a question that can only be answered in a classified setting.
    Heads up, folks. Just in case it means something. This has now been removed from the CNN page.

    But I took a screenshot.

    Just keep an eye on this, to see if it's reported later today or not. If it totally disappears from the news, then I'd suggest this really does mean something.

    ~~~
    Edit to add:
    It's now back on CNN's running coronavirus news page from yesterday. I'm as sure as I can be that it had been temporarily removed... I searched carefully to find it again, and it simply wasn't there. But now, refreshing the page, the same report is still visible.
    It's also mentioned on this AP News page today, but nowhere else on the net. In the middle of a much longer report, that text reads:
    Senators returning to Washington after a weeklong recess will receive a classified briefing Tuesday morning on the government’s coronavirus response, a Senate aide said.
    Assuming these videos and images are real, it suggests to me that what we're seeing are cases of sudden heart failure. That seems pretty much the only explanation.
    Chris Martenson (Peak Prosperity) has talked about that as a potential issue in RE-infection after recovery and discharge. (See his 14 Feb video titled Even Deadlier Reinfection Risk?) But I'd be most interested to hear others with medical training discussing what's happening here. It seems very alarming.
    I am suspecting that whatever happened had an immediate onset. Most people are not going to go somewhere if they are feeling really weak, sick or light headed. I am guessing that it is cardiac arrest, acute congestive heart failure, a major aneurysm or possibly some form of extreme hypoxia(lack of air). If what we saw in one of those pictures was actually blood could there be some sort of leaky lung episode? Just thinking out loud here.
    Found this on another site, but it suggests yet another possibility. Scary! It is a journal article from a SARS study:
    Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus Infection Causes Neuronal Death in the Absence of Encephalitis in Mice Transgenic for Human ACE2
    Very medically oriented reading, but it appears to say that viral brain infection can cause rapid neuronal destruction, and the SARS Coronavirus when studied in mice lead to death in that way.
    Thanks for this Ayt
    I've deemed it sufficiently important enough and educationally valuable to include in the library and it can be accessed here
    Okay, this has now been reported. From CNN here, 22 mins ago:
    US senators were briefed on coronavirus today. Here's how they're reacting.
    From CNN's Ali Zaslav, Saran Tarawaley, Manu Raju and Lauren Fox
    US senators had a classified briefing on coronavirus this morning.
    As they left, Sens. Dick Durbin, Richard Blumenthal and Lamar Alexander all said that one aspect of the novel coronavirus that concerns them is its spread across countries around the world.
    A key question, Democrat Whip Durbin said, is “whether or not [countries] will be aggressive in quarantine in cases and reduce the spread beyond their borders. We still have to wait to see.”
    GOP Sen. Bill Cassidy said that at the end of today's briefing, the officials present actually said “it didn’t need to be” classified. Sen. Roy Blunt, a Republican, echoed that and said the senators didn’t hear anything “top secret.”
    Durbin also said he believes the Trump administration’s request for about $2 billion in additional funds to deal with coronavirus is a “wise allocation” but added that it “may not even be enough” — repeating a warning that other Democrats have also made.
    Durbin then slammed the Trump administration's budget request that cuts funds for health agencies like CDC and NIH as “completely backwards.” He said he hopes the president reconsiders as “we’ve got to anticipate that more resources will be needed.”
    GOP Sen. Mike Braun of Indiana said “panicking about this does not make sense,” when asked if Americans should be panicked about the coronavirus, pointing to the fact there’s only been 14 cases so far in the US — not including those from the cruise ship.
    ~~~

    My own comment on this quote:
    Quote GOP Sen. Bill Cassidy said that at the end of today's briefing, the officials present actually said “it didn’t need to be” classified. Sen. Roy Blunt, a Republican, echoed that and said the senators didn’t hear anything “top secret.”
    I'd strongly guess that's because they didn't ask the pertinent questions that would have required a classified response.
