    This is all I know for now. And some advice on toilet paper lol, you can always use water in a shortage that’s how we do it in the middle east, just fill a bottle of water put it nearby and wash yourself with in on the seat, sorry if I’m giving details.
    We can even do it here in so-called 'developed' countries. Some soap on a flannel will work just as well should an emergency arise, and then rinse thoroughly and repeat. (Perhaps I'm providing too much detail too, but, there are workarounds.)

    Medical Martial Law:

    FROM 2009: Top scientists are saying that the current swine flu outbreak came from a vaccine lab, but you won’t hear that in the controlled corporate media. Nor will you hear about Bilderberg plans to use the pandemic hysteria to flex the muscles of their nascent global government. But you will hear all about it in this week’s episode of The Corbett Report.

    I am in Northern New Jersey, about ten miles west of Manhattan/New York City. There are numerous cases here and many events have been cancelled. Never the less, most people are relatively calm and feel they are mostly taking sensible precautions. People are still taking public transportation, still going out to restaurants, still shopping for non essential items, but, the numbers are down.

    Grocery purchasing has been heavy for two weeks - most people weren't acknowledging that food sales were up and shelves were restocked quickly. Then last week it became obvious: stores were running out of toilet paper, bleach and hand sanitizer. Everyone I talked to in the market was calm, laughing about the silliness of some hoarders. The people who are quarantining themselves are almost apologetic about it: "I have a wife and who did heavy chemotherapy and now has no immune system." Well, that seems sensible. This morning I went to a super market and they were completely out of stock on most frozen foods and snack foods. All your essential items were there and there was a huge surplus of fresh organic strawberries. Other stores have had a run on whole chickens or eggs, but for the most part, the supply is keeping up with the demand. I really don't think anyone has had to make a major sacrifices and I don't think they will. We joke about which leaves can be used for toilet paper, but I don't think anyone is going to do without.

    Some schools have closed and offered online classes, some are still open. For a while, business was down at Chinese restaurants, but now, take out Chinese is quite popular with the people who don't want to cook but don't want to eat in a restaurant. Some churches closed, some stayed open, but they stop shaking hands when it comes to the "sharing of the peace" and rules about communion have changed. The Bishop for the Episcopal church announced a three week shutdown and will hopefully resume services on Palm Sunday.

    We have yet to see how COVID-19 will effect our healthcare system as the actual cases in hospitals are still low. While we don't know if they will have to open up other emergency facilities in schools and airports or not, the good news is that our other systems of supply and transportation are functioning just fine. If COVID-19 is a conspiracy to cause fear and breakdown of our systems, then it has failed due to the good sense, kindness and sanity of most of the human beings here.

    A quick question while I'm still lingering on Page 89 of this thread (but not as far behind the curve as Infowars at least as far as updates go):

    Have there been to anyone's knowledge any reported cases in Iceland? Unless I'd missed an update - I don't think I have - they've been largely absent from statistics, so far.

    From Bill:
    Yes, Iceland has 175 reported cases (including 14 more today) — the highest in the world in terms of number of cases per million population. (According to official figures, that is.)

    I just caught this as a brief update on the Guardian's running news thread. It was posted 9 hours ago, and there was nothing else said, and no reference.
    ~~~[INDENT][INDENT]German newspaper Welt am Sonntag has reported that US president Donald Trump has sought exclusive rights to a vaccine for the coronavirus which is being developed by a German-based company, CureVac.
    [I]The report, which quoted unnamed sources, said Trump had offered large sums of money to German scientists working on the vaccine.
    Hmmm... If this comes to pass and results in a shortage or renders anyone without the means to obtain the vaccine, I'll donate mine to anyone in the world who wants it...
    Hi all,
    I just wanted to report that borders in Europe everywhere are being closed because of Corona-
    most recently the border between France and Germany-
    I just don't know what to make yet of the Corona virus reports- true or just fear-mongering to fulfill a Globalist/New World Agenda?
    any insights into this would be greatly appreciated especially if you're reporting from Europe-
    many thanks in advance-
    Yes and let's be sober about these numbers.
    When you have a very small population, you are more likely to get skewed calculation numbers.
    In addition to trumpeting that they have the highest number of cases per million population, how about trumpeting that they have no reported deaths as of today and only one serious/critical case?
    The situation in Ireland worsenes. One more death, many more infections.
    All bars, clubs, venues have been ordered to close, as of this evening, Sunday 15th March. You know the s*** has hit the fan when pubs close in Ireland, especially two days before the national "lets get hammered" day, aka St Patrick's day.
    Cafes and restaurants can remain open, I'm guessing not for much longer. I was talking to an employee of my local coffee shop this afternoon and he couldn't hide his contempt for his employer for remaining open.
    Profit before people, sick!
    I work in a small restaurant in Dublin City. The owners, responsibility, took the action to close our doors last Friday.
    Public schools in NYC and Long Island CLOSED.
    That's over a million and a half kids whose parents are going to have to figure out child care for at least a month.
    Looks like they're moving to nationwide school closures:
    Slightly more positive news. South Korea is showing the Coronavirus can be contained. The green bars show the drop in new cases.
    Dr Margaret Harris of the World Health Organisation told Katya Adler on BBC Radio 5 Live Politics South Korea had made "dramatic" changes to stop the spread of the deadly coronavirus. She explained citizens are sent a text message from the Government when a new case has been confirmed in addition to information regarding where the individual has recently been and what they did. She added this better allows the public to know if they are at risk of contracting the disease and need to be tested for it.
    Best open your eyes and get out of the way! Boris Johnson might not agree with you Bill as the UK has taken a different path. A very interesting article in the Guardian explores the UK´s response.
    I had assumed that the UK would do the same, that the authorities would be building their resources and plans around nationwide testing, contact tracing, quarantine and a progressive policy of social distancing. I assumed they would inform the public they had a two- to three-month “contain and delay” strategy to get the epidemic under control, and mobilise communities everywhere to provide local support. But from the press conferences last week, the government is not following the WHO strategy. They appear to have concluded that it is inevitable most people would get the disease, so we should let the epidemic proceed to allow 60% of the population to become infected and build herd immunity through the wild virus. What is the scientific justification for this departure from WHO policy? I have questions:
    The situation in Ireland worsenes. One more death, many more infections.
    All bars, clubs, venues have been ordered to close, as of this evening, Sunday 15th March. You know the s*** has hit the fan when pubs close in Ireland, especially two days before the national "lets get hammered" day, aka St Patrick's day.
    Cafes and restaurants can remain open, I'm guessing not for much longer. I was talking to an employee of my local coffee shop this afternoon and he couldn't hide his contempt for his employer for remaining open.
    Profit before people, sick!
    I work in a small restaurant in Dublin City. The owners, responsibility, took the action to close our doors last Friday.
    In Belgium, all cafés, restaurants and clubs/discotheques must remain permanently closed until the 3rd of April. Hotels may remain open. All non-essential shops ─ i.e. shops that do not sell food, animal food or tobacco ─ must remain closed for the weekends but may open on weekdays; again, until the 3rd of April. Pharmacies may make an exception.
    All non-essential surgical procedures have been delayed until (again) the 3rd of April, so as to make the emergency rooms and operating rooms available for urgent cases only. All events of a sports-related, cultural or religious nature, whether public or private, are suspended. Today was supposed to be carnival here in town ─ actually, this weekend, from Thursday afternoon until Tuesday evening ─ and it was canceled. Not that I personally have any regrets about that, because I hate carnival. On the flipside, some people are now going just across the border to the Netherlands in order to party.
    Supermarkets are having a hard time keeping up with the hoarding rage, and yes, toilet paper is a very hot commodity here. I presume it is believed that barricading oneself behind a stack of toilet rolls would keep the virus out, but I can't be certain about that theory until I've managed to ask one of the morons who bought up large quantities of toilet paper, and I feel a reluctance to find such an individual and then adopt the lingo you would commonly associate with someone whose IQ matches room temperature in Celcius.
    Public schools in NYC and Long Island CLOSED.
    That's over a million and a half kids whose parents are going to have to figure out child care for at least a month.
    Over here in Belgium, the schools remain closed until the 3rd of April, but only in the sense that there will not be any teaching during that time. The schools will however remain open on weekdays as care facilities, so as to be able to offer a place for younger children whose parents work in the health sector, so that the children's grandparents ─ who make up for a more vulnerable age group ─ wouldn't have to load that burden onto their shoulders.
    The hoarding is of course incredibly annoying, but the supermarkets are doing all they can to keep the racks filled, and law enforcement is also keeping an eye on the situation, especially since there have already been riots between rivaling hoarders.
    But other than that, as strange and eerie as it may sound, I am actually enjoying the calm. I already have to endure enough noise during the week ─ from before 08:00 in the morning until about 18:30 to 19:00 in the evening ─ from the physiotherapy practice below my apartment, which easily handles about 200 patients per day, spread out across the schedules of three, sometimes four therapists who work here, and they're quite a jolly and loud bunch. At times, it sounds like they would be celebrating carnival all year long.
    I also live sideways across the street from a church, and because of the government directives, there won't be any masses anymore until the 3rd of April. So no church bells in the morning, no weddings, no funerals, no baptisms. All nice and quiet.
    So, yeah, I actually find the calm and the silence over the weekend quite soothing. I'm pretty much a recluse anyway ─ and for that matter, one with loads and loads of health problems ─ and I normally only leave the door for buying groceries or for having dinner with my brother and his girlfriend every two weeks.
    I just caught this as a brief update on the Guardian's running news thread. It was posted 9 hours ago, and there was nothing else said, and no reference.
    ~~~
    German newspaper Welt am Sonntag has reported that US president Donald Trump has sought exclusive rights to a vaccine for the coronavirus which is being developed by a German-based company, CureVac.

    The report, which quoted unnamed sources, said Trump had offered large sums of money to German scientists working on the vaccine.

    Edit to add: a reference has now been given.
    More still, in some detail:
    I guess Trump tried to mess with the wrong guys.

    Google translated from a German news agency:

    Quote The pharmaceutical company CureVac from Tübingen has rejected an exclusive contract with the United States for a possible vaccine against the novel corona virus. A managing director of dievini Hopp BioTech Holding, which holds 80 percent of the company, said that an exclusive contract with the USA was out of the question. CureVac itself announced that it was developing a vaccine with the aim of helping patients worldwide.

    "We want to develop a vaccine for the whole world and not for individual countries," said the managing director and co-founder of dievini Hopp BioTech Holding, Christof Hettich, the "Mannheimer Morgen". The holding company is the main investor in CureVac.

    Published March 12, 2020

    Dive Brief:

    CureVac CEO Daniel Menichella was abruptly replaced on Wednesday, when the German biotech announced its board chairman Ingmar Hoerr would take over as the company's top executive.

    The transition comes just nine days after Menichella traveled to Washington, D.C. to attend a meeting between President Donald Trump and drugmakers developing treatments for the new coronavirus now rapidly spreading throughout the U.S.
