    Default Jordan Peterson Update

For those that don't know, Jordan Peterson has been struggling mightily after complications from benzodiazepine withdrawal. He's nearly died, and through a few twists and turns has wound up in Russia for the appropriate treatments. I had no idea it was so dire, but am thrilled to see that he is finally on the mend after many months of extreme suffering. In a prepared statement, his daughter tells us that in the next update we'll be hearing from Jordan himself. I'm very excited about that. He's the greatest genius of our time, far as I'm concerned.

Mike, Thank you for this. I did not know he was so sick. I am currently reading 12 Rules For Life and reading it very slowly, because it is so remarkable. I do think he is one of the leading thinkers of our time.

Carnivorous Habits send you off to eating up your time here.
    Ibogaine, not Benzo...This is Paradoxical.
    Two are cures.
It's not as complicated as the people of words make it, but when that is your identity, your job, your degree....

When the observable choice is no choice at all there is always a deeper choice to heal, to see beyond the society you are in. There's a Joe out there who gave you the wrong drug, the wrong prescription for healing something you saw needed some attention. You'll step out of your way the next time and listen, or not. You knew this wasn't good when you took it on, like many of us have done for the fun of it, in spite of the consequences.

The Infinite I, which is egoless, boundless. Bo is a sacred word for Love. Gain is the choice of the conscious. I cannot explain but am bound to try....Someone from somewhere else planted and nurtured the cures for the human condition and it's time they were found again.

Benzos are quite simply EVIL. My Dr REFUSED to prescribe them at all EVER.

His assertion is that they can, in just one dose, rewire your brain into incredibly debilitating states that takes months/years to recover from. and this is what they give to people with anxiety and those going through alcohol and drug withdraw.

I came back from an all you you care to eat/drink resort and went into a kinda mini alcohol withdrawal...so off to the hospital I went. I was very shaky, which was new to me and also severe anxiety. ER Doctor offered me 2 pills and my mother asked what are those and he said bezodiazpenes and she slapped his hand away hahaha.

Well, I did get an IV with electrolytes.....and a lesson learned. IE don't drink all day for a week.

Apologies, but I just can't help questioning the common sense of anyone for trusting in a pharmaceutical.
I know plenty of people who are far from geniuses who know better than that.
Though I wish him well, and agree that he can be very insightful.

I wish him all the best. I went through the same nightmare when I was 19. I was told they weren't addictive, then I lost my prescription while I was on my way to a new city. It was hell on earth until I found a doctor who slowly weaned me off the stuff. What a godsend he was. I still take 2 mgs a day, which is about enough to give a hamster a slight buzz. I was put on 20 mls per day when I was sixteen and pretty much off of it by the time I was 25. Being weaned off of it slowly was not difficult at all.

What Jordan Peterson is going through seems to be a typical withdrawal reaction. It does take years to get off of it, safely. If he's trying to kick cold turkey, that's likely the problem. If he is truly having a weird reaction to the drug, on top of trying get off of it, he's very lucky to be alive. It is the hardest drug out there to go off of cold turkey. Much harder than heroin.

It will be interesting to catch with him, after he is fully recovered to get a sense of how this experience changes him. It might change or slightly alter his perspective. Could reinforce it too. He's being tested, almost biblically. Poor guy. He'll come out stronger.

Do you not know anybody having intense physical pain from cancer? There's nothing much but pharmecueticals that work. Most drugs that have clear upsides have clear downsides as well.

The Western World has to get over its neuroses about treatment of debilitating pain and its treatment. Opioids were over subscribed. Now they are under prescribed for those who desperately need them.

I have been reading recently about meds (non narcotic) that I was given 10 years ago, that are supposedly completely safe, but I am hearing from people taking them to really watch out for certain types of reactions so am slowly removing them from my arsenol and replacing with topical magnesium.

So you are correct that we shouldn't trust big pharma's descriptions of their own drugs and side effect butsometimes we really have to rely on them. Due diligence is very important.

    My step-mother... 1978

About 3 or so months after she learned she was pregnant at age 38 (when told she could never have children), "they" told her "they had concerns" and she should undergo a biopsy (suggesting fears of cancer). But the biopsy would cause her to lose her baby. She said she wanted to have the baby, then have the biopsy. My half-brother was born on Christmas day. They told her she needed to wait two or three months before they could do the biopsy. When they did, it came up "positive" (bad news) and so they said they recommended surgery to try and remove the cancer. They told us the procedure would last 10 - 12 hours. My father called me two hours after the start of the surgery. He told me, "It's all in her... they cleaned out what they could and sewed her back up and gave her six months."

She came home. She wanted to be at home. Her mother flew in to be with her through the end, to be by her side. They gave her all sorts of pain meds. Dilaudid, liquid morphine, three or four other powerful "pain" medications. She took them for a few weeks then stopped. She told us though the pain was sometimes unbearable, what was worse for her was not having her sense, her mind, She died 9 months later, in her bed in our home.

The day she passed, I was at work and got the call to come home. "They" had already removed her corpse by the time I made it home but I will never forget when I went to the back bedroom... I guess, due to my already terrible reputation (I was 21 years old and had been in trouble for weed a few times), my step-grandmother, while looking at me, asked my father what was done with all her cancer drugs. My father told her, "don't worry, I flushed them."

Three months later, my father committed suicide. He didn't flush them after all. He used them to end his life.

I have a bias against all pharmaceuticals. BUT, indeed, all things have a time and/or place. Its ironic... thinking how brave she was. How dignified that she would rather suffer the pain than be out of it mentally. That courage provided my father the means to end his own life where he might not have otherwise. Ironic.

Ironic Mike (three days ago) was discussing a possible abscessed tooth and I urged him to get to a dentist knowing that if indeed it was, the dentist would surely have him on antibiotics asap (and would deal with the cause as well). In a case like this, antibiotics may very well save a life in such a circumstance.

I wish my step-mom had taken the pain pills. I hope Mike got to the dentist (haven't seen an update yet).

I amend my statement of 100% to 99%.
All the above is all and only my opinion - all subject to change and not meant to be true for anyone else regardless of how I phrase it.

As I understand it, Peterson did not start taking the drug for cancer, but for anxiety.
There are natural remedies for most conditions including pain and anxiety which are inexpensive, non-addictive and without side effects, but you may have to do some research to discover what they are, and then exercise some will power and self-discipline.
Most people are conditioned to want to have immediate results, and it often takes longer to get results with natural remedies, though the advantages are worth it.
Prevention is the best solution, which takes forethought, but planning for optimal health isn't that difficult if you really pay attention to your body and do your research.
I am no stranger to pain (see: http://projectavalon.net/forum4/show...=1#post1328253)
...but I choose rather to endure it as best I can with the aid of supplements, health food, clean water, etc.
I was taking an opioid for some months when I was having dental pain, but I had spent years working on my health before that situation arose, and so I only had to take very small doses, and once the dental work was done, I was able to quit with no problem.
But that was probably because I was also detoxifying my body all along.
People are much too reliant on Big Pharma and much too dismissive of the natural powers of Nature to assist us in our healing, imho.

Onawah, Most people describing pain and anxiety and how they overcame it or how someone they knew overcame it, are describing major discomfort. This is different that pain, even if cancer is involved. There are degrees involved here and it's unfair to assume you know how badly someone is suffering with a suggestion they try herbs and exercise will power.

Peterson found out his wife had cancer. He had also signed contracts for speaking engagements. He may not have been having anxiety but panic attacks, but still classed as anxiety. The difference may not be just quantative but qualitative. Panic is more like a seizure disorder. It wouldn't be possible for anybody having a panic attack to go on a speaking tour, using herbal remedies anymore than suggesting the victim of a car accident go to the emergency ward for aromatherapy.

Ugh. I just read some of the tweets linked in John's post from the sick freaks kicking the man while he's down. We can only hope that the illuminatti's depopulation agenda begins with them.

One criticism of Peterson I've heard repetitively is that he doesn't practice what he preaches.

    It's utter nonsense.

Firstly, he's been very honest and open about his use of psych drugs right from the very beginning. For a very public man with a lucrative career as a lecturer and professor and writer hanging in the balance, it was a remarkably brave thing to do. With that one gesture, he eliminated any distance between he and the crowds he was addressing. It was an open admission that he doesn't know all the answers. It was egoless and raw and very very risky. Far from scaring me off, it only made me respect him even more.

Life is suffering. The Buddhists were right. Peterson's prescriptions for life are tools that can be used very effectively to, as he often says, "beat back the catastrophe of life"

But he never claimed they were a panacea. Not even close. In fact, he often says that if you can merely maintain a tragic life and not let it degrade into hell, you've likely done a fine job.

He's no get fixed quick guy. Tony Robbins he is not. Nietzsche, Freud, Dostovesky, Jung....he's cut from their cloth. He's kind of a dark dude!

All genius' pay a price. His appears to be mental health. But it's this "weakness" that has likely molded him into the genius he is. You can't be a genius without being a little bit mad. It's a sacrifice the genius makes. Peterson is so empathic and so dedicated to his cause precisely because he has suffered so much. It's akin to the hellish journey the shaman is required to make.

He's been in hell. He knows the landscape. He's pulled himself out.. and with his lectures and books and interviews he's giving us his blueprint. But keeping oneself out of hell is a full time job. Getting out of hell is just the beginning; staying out is the real challenge. And we're all vulnerable to falling back in, even Peterson.

To know hell you have to have been there. It's all part of the hero's journey archetype. You travel to lands very few people have seen and return to articulate it to the world. I view him as a traveler and a shaman. His life has largely been a sacrifice for the rest of us. That may sound dramatic, but I think it's true.

And if someone is going to take those hellish journeys on our behalf - and return to describe and educate us about it so we don't have to do all the heavy lifting alone - I think we need to make certain allowances for them. Like this benzo thing. It is hard to understand why he was taking them - I totally get where Nat and Sammy are coming from - but I'm perfectly willing to let all my judgements go in light of all the wonderful things he's done for the people of the world.

I have just as much reason to distrust big pharma as anyone here, but still..I'm from the school of whatever works. There is no reason to suffer needlessly when there is a pill available, even if it's a pharmaceutical one. That's foolish. I am a huge proponent of herbs and nutritional supplements, but they do have their limits in some situations, particularly as it applies to severe anxiety, depression, and other mental disorders. I exhausted every bit of knowledge I had trying to get my sister off her psych drugs, and I just couldn't do it. And guess what? She's living a very full, energetic life now. Those drugs have helped her immensely.

Like Autumn I'm eager to see how this setback has changed him, if at all. I'm sure he'll once again use his suffering as a means of helping the rest of us.

You can't use Ibogaine for benzo dependence. Look it up if you are considering it before you do. Not sure this was implied but just saying....

My mom was addicted to benzos. She was prescribed them at the time when pharma was touting them as "harmless". At one point she was was hospitalized for some other reason and a wise doctor decided she no longer needed them. She was having nonstop seizures and hallucinations. They decided maybe it wasn't a great idea to stop them at this point. She died addicted to them.

I have known others at 12 step groups that have been addicted to them and the withdrawal is long and psychically painful. All that anxiety that was neatly suppressed returns with a vengeance.

I wish him well. I have deep admiration that he is upfront about this issue. He is a true role model for what he talks about. It is actually refreshing to see someone that is well known allowing us to see his vulnerabilities, not pretending to be perfect.

I lost my Twin Flame aka Soulmate her committing suicide December 2019 probably (or mainly) because of her using Benzodiazepine taking away her ability to feel which even can make it worse and more frightening for some one who already has General Anxiety Disorder.

    Exclamation Re: Jordan Peterson Update

    Jordan Peterson Near Death?!?

"In a video and script given to the National Post, Mikhaila Peterson provides an update on her father, the author and professor Jordan Peterson, who is currently recovering from near death at a clinic in Russia. Hi everyone, itís been months since weíve given an update on Jordan and my familyís health and itís time for one so here goes. The last year has been absolute hell for the Petersons. Dad was put on a low dose of a benzodiazepine a few years ago for anxiety following an extremely severe autoimmune reaction to food. He took the medication as prescribed. We werenít aware that he was developing a physical dependence on the drug until last April when my mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer and the dose of the medication increased. It became apparent that he was experiencing a paradoxical reaction to the medication, meaning the benzos did the opposite of what theyíre supposed to do. These reactions are rare but are not unheard of. The worst symptom for dad was akathisia. Akathisia is an absolutely god awful condition where the person feels an incredible, irresistible restlessness, and an inability to sit still. It was so severe he was suicidal. For the last six months heís been in horrible, unbearable discomfort from this drug, made worse when trying to remove it because of the physical dependence. We took him to several hospitals in North America where he experienced multiple cases of misdiagnosis, and the addition of more medications to cover the response he was experiencing from the benzodiazepines. He nearly died several times. In early January my dad, my husband, my daughter, and I flew to Russia. To make matters worse he was diagnosed with a fever and pneumonia in both lungs upon arrival. He was put into an induced coma for eight days and had the most horrific withdrawal Iíve ever read or heard about. He almost died from what the medical system did to him in the West. The doctors here arenít influenced by the pharmaceutical companies, donít believe in treating symptoms caused by medications, by adding in more medications and have the guts to medically detox someone from benzodiazepines. So, finally Dad is on the mend. His sense of humour is back. Heís smiling again for the first time in months, but he has a long way to go to recover fully. He spent four weeks in the ICU, he has neurological damage from the benzodiazepines, which is hopefully temporary. Heís still taking anti-seizure medication, and he canít type or walk steadily yet. Still, this is a vast and rapid improvement. Last week he couldnít sit up without help. The week before that he couldnít lift an arm or speak... (At about 4 mins, I misspoke, and said "half a gram" when I meant to say "half a milligram).

    I'm really sorry John.

When I lost my father to suicide (over 40 years ago), it was devastating. Interestingly, "my sub conscious" and my most deepest desires colluded to generate "synchronicity confirmations" of a potential "other" explanation behind his death. Yet, in the end, its my conclusion a convergence of factors supporting a predisposition and the factor of the loss of his wife (and true love) just three months prior combined to send my father over the tipping point. I love him and miss him today as the day I lost him.

I am really glad you are here and that you share so much, even the most difficult of personal experiences. Sam
