Warren, you mention that you won't be eating exotic fruits... is soursop/graviola available to you in Ecuador? I don't know if its range goes into highlands, but certainly grows in some parts of Ecuador and not an imported exotic.

When you look for CBD, look for "full-spectrum" oil. CBD can be refined to the point of being a white crystalline powder, stripped of all the other plant substances that would have created an "entourage effect." Even if you don't buy from them, do check out a company called "Lazarus Naturals" and read about their full-spectrum oil, to get an idea of what (in my opinion) you want to look for. I have spoken with their farm manager, and they grow organically, but haven't jumped the hoops to be 'certified' as such. Every batch of oil has a number, and they publish the assay report for the batch, including detectable traces of pesticides, heavy metals, etc. Growing organically (certified or not) is important for your CBD oil, because the oil-making process also concentrates toxins, if present. Cannabis oil (from any variety, whatever cannabinoid profile) should be made from flowers, not just stalks, as the plant bioaccumulates whatever is in the soil (and cannabis plants can be used for soil remediation.)

"Hemp" is a hijacked nickname for cannabis that the US government decreed as <0.3% THC threshold, if you are wondering why some companies use "hemp" rather than "cannabis" to describe their product. It's all cannabis.

GW Pharmaceuticals patent against (the fastest growing) cancer includes THC and CBD in equal amounts, in full-spectrum oil. If you should decide to add THC, know that where there is a US ex-pat community, there is cannabis.

If you cant live without sweet - use Stevia.

If you find it very hard to cancel sugar, could Xylitol („birch sugar“) be a possibility? Is anyone thinking there are contra-indications?

Dear Friends, I have some sad news. Warren is dying. He may leave us very soon.

Because of the lockdown here I've not seen him for several months, but I'm heading into town right now. His sister is flying in from the US, having been told that she needs to get here as soon as possible.

Warren's not on the internet now, but I'll be sure to convey to him that he has many friends here who will be with him on his journey. And he'll certainly be back, which he does know. I'll be assuring him he and I will definitely be going hiking again, at some future time.

Dear Friends: some of you, with most generous and thoughtful posts here in the last few hours, may have missed my important update #44 from earlier today.

A little after sharing that sad news here, I went into town to see Warren, the first opportunity I've had. He was very pleased to see me, and he smiled and was quite cogent. But his skin is very yellow (a large tumor in his liver), he has almost no energy at all, and after 10 minutes he fell asleep holding my hand.

I'm not at all sure he'll be able to hang on until his son and sister can get here in 10 days' time — but he knows they're coming. I can go in and see him again on Tuesday, where he's being well taken care of in his apartment by a day nurse and an English speaking doctor who's there all waking hours. Thankfully, he's not in pain.

He's not on the net, so he'll never read these posts. But next time I see him I'll convey everyone's very warmest wishes, for which I do thank you.

Regarding today's most helpful and well-intended posts about remedies and treatments, I've taken the liberty to move them to Constance's excellent and valuable All About Cancer thread.
