Default Has Our Luck Finally Run Out?

    We are woefully unprepared for a long run of bad luck;

Long-term cycles escape our notice because they play out over many years or even decades; few noticed the decreasing rainfall in the Mediterranean region in 150 A.D. but this gradual decline in rainfall slowly but surely reduced the grain harvests of the Roman Empire, which coupled with rising populations resulted in a reduced caloric intake for many people.

This weakened their immune systems in subtle ways, leaving them more vulnerable to the Antonine Plague of 165 AD.

The decline of temperatures in Northern Europe in the early 1300s led to "years without summer" and failed grain harvests which reduced the caloric intake of most people, leaving them weakened and more vulnerable to the Black Plague which swept Europe in 1347.

I've mentioned the book The Fate of Rome: Climate, Disease, and the End of an Empire a number of times as a source for understanding the impact of natural cycles on human civilization.

It's important to note that the natural cycles and pandemics of 200 AD didn't just cripple the Roman Empire; this same era saw the collapse of the mighty Parthian Empire of Persia, the kingdoms of India and the Han Dynasty in China.

In addition to natural cycles, there are human socio-economic cycles of debt and decay of civic values and the social contract: a proliferation of parasitic elites, a weakening of state finances and a decline in the purchasing power of wages/labor.

The rising dependence on debt and its eventual collapse is a cycle noted by Kondratieff and others, and Peter Turchin listed these three dynamics as the key drivers of decisive discord of the kind that brings down empires and nations.

All three are playing out globally in the present.

What, did they dissolve the Monarchy by pandemic order? Hope not so.

But looking at the socio-economical situation that can be analyzed and predicted to some degree, most of this “modern human society” are firmly seated on a crossroad and enthroned on a cross or worse a rift.
Empires and monarchies that had their own governing systems with left and right wings were infiltrated and overtaken by “modern political systems” of competing parties that started sometime after the Great French Revolution and flourished mostly in the New World , returning to “liberate” us from dependency on the state, even slavery.
How many millions and how much time are wasted often among emergency situations on election campaigns, political competing and hunger games all the time,
creating endless divide and conquer , prestigious game for the rich,
    and deceitful feed for rest,
    for the game alone
    and nothing else.

Most of traditional authorities and cultures have been succumbed under this political game, societies broken and divided to “people with opinion” and those without it,
human beings trying to define themselves as “party members”, rightists or leftists ..

and those who have left the table, work undone,

most of human cultures and their knowledge, their sciences and faiths have been destroyed by the power of human conflict.

Some systems last little longer but nothing lasts forever, as we know of.

Even THIS devilish, to some so suggestive and tempting power of human conflict, duality of opinion, ambivalence of opinion and character, this conflict breaking society to pieces and shredders can not last forever.

This society of competition, inequality and conflict is juvenile and incompetent in its disability to unite even at difficult times.

This society is vulnerable and partially beyond redemption.

It’s an epoch of human history when evolution time keeps accelerating in us until it dissolves the slower ones who could not run or hide.

In another 100 years and some mega droughts there could be also, couple thousands people left around the globe : survivors who will restart new epoch of human civilization from where we have left..

You’re quite right, people think in incredibly short terms. In reality we are against much bigger situation than anyone imagines and we are sitting on a nuke . The “cross” has evolved to a “nuke” since times of Jesus Christ, that is. Notice the acceleration.

So do not give up, great souls are needed

    My guts say No Sir.!
A lot can be done at the individual level, we just need to re-organize as a society, let the bastards see who are in control.

Thoughtfully, from natures side and point of view, anything is possible. Our ancestors lived in awe and deep fear of nature that was part of “God”, the Universe of unpredictable forces.
Even 200 years ago and before the electricity grid was installed, this world was “dark”. Sometimes I imagined how dark was the Himalayan jungle road in days before electricity at night.
There would be wild animals, robbers, ghosts lurking in the shadows, there would be full power of magic on moonlit nights and ferns wrapped in green fluorescence.

“Big cataclysms” in fates of our ancestors happened every 100 or 200 years. Almost every century had its “Last Day Prophets”.

From scientific point of view and no matter how much data we have accumulated over past centuries and millennia, the part of our Universe is still unpredictable concerning physical forces and probability that we may get a hit.

One thing is, we will probably never be prepared enough for the “big one”.
Maybe for another couple million years ..and we can’t even bet on surviving on this planet forever. We will have to move on one day in future ..regardless.

    On the other hand ..

we are probably the best prepared now than we have ever been in human history. We have internet to talk globally.
With some 8 billions of humans on this planet in case of cosmic disaster more people will survive together with knowledge database and the peak of technologies available to us , that’s not insignificant heritage.

We are little more ready than we have ever been to face any such situation with better perspective and Universal awareness.

    “Nothing ever dies, everything transforms”

The higher layers of consciousness, intelligence of the planet and humanity in particular stay unaffected as they have witnessed millions of events unfolding over past millions of years of cosmic cycles and accidental events.

The Universe you see is round It has natural tendency towards symmetry and harmony. Even while space-time tides of galaxies and nebulae keep crashing to each other like giant waves causing trillions upon trillions of “sparkles” and time-space events we are witnessing rather distantly,
it still seeks for its beautiful synchronicity of frequencies and coils in spirals seeking stability of patterns that we see as beautiful and harmonious.

It roars in its crashes and sublimates itself as music of the spheres.

We are part of the “sublime universe”, naturally, our existence depends on it being peaceful and harmonious, and our resonance within it.

Our ancestors always “listened” more than they talked .

They listened to the Skies, they listened to the Earth, the Wind whispheres, they listened to the force from within their heart beats and got their “information” right there.

People of today forgot to listen . They forgot to listen to each other as well but use words and voices to fight each other instead.
They get information mostly from local and global media. But small part of us and of every beings mind and body still “listens” to the Universal rhythm that gave birth to this form,
and greater Rhythm that conceived us as souls, as an intelligence and Beings, long ago.

It too always listens to the Universe even while we are hardly aware of it.

So if I think about it deeply, I think we will know the forecast ..

    some days ahead

Looking back at the beginning of the Maunder Minimum around 1635-1640, the Tulip craze collapsed, food & grain prices spiked in Asia & Europe, land prices declined. Silver vs currency trade also hit a 6X against metals in the same period. What caused the 1650's reset in society? The same event that is here again in 2020, a Grand Solar Minimum.
