Using a bunch of discs instead of a solid wheel is so simple and genius at the same time.

I think it would cause negative friction ?

The device dose make me think about the 'Schist Disk'

Not so much for this blade turbine, but just what was it for?

Correct me if I am wrong, but one of the main problems with Tesla Turbines is that the high RPMs are brutal on bearings. Perhaps, some sort of magnetic bearings would make them last longer???

Interesting association, as that rock relic looks designed to spin. Yes, likely not a power turbine, first because it appears fragile, and second because whoever made it wouldn’t need such a simple function as an air/water turbine to get power.

My thoughts go to acoustics, from the material and the proportions. I have read ideas of acoustics being somehow utilized to unweight big stones for transport. If that is true, then this type of device might have served to modulate sound, as it spins. Served to step up ~tuning or intensity or focus.

Are we sure that air was Tesla’s intended working fluid? Sorry, I’ve not researched this, the OP vid all I’ve seen of it.

Steam was well known in his time, and would approximate compressed air, but that would introduce even more challenges to fast spinning bearings.

Other than on windmills, water was the activator of turbines since way before Mr. Tesla, and the patent labelling uses just that word.

Your question is good, if this was a steam engine. If water was intended, RPMs would be much lower.
