Admirable, on so many levels
I don't know how many of you saw Russell Howard's Good News programme on BBC3 last Thursday. For those that don't know the show, it's basically a comedy look at stuff that's been in the news that week, but always ends with a 'good' story. This week's was a piece about a girl I know, though not well.
To see the piece click here: http://bbc.co.uk/i/rzt3z/?t=27m35s
Basically this is a young woman who has been bedbound and severely affected by ME/CFS (CFID's to our American cousins) yet rather than lying there dwelling on her own misfortune she has set up a website, with another seriously affected friend, called Postpals, here http://www.postpals.co.uk/
This site features children with life-threatening illnesses and asks that you take a moment to send a card, letter or gift to one of these children to brighten their day, without expecting any response from them.
Personally I find the whole idea quite inspirational, especially since the girl who set it up has been so severely ill herself for so long.
Just wanted to share this with you all. :-)
