I can recommended it but it is in some depth. Not superficial reading.

I met one of his Devotees who translated for him. Ramesh Balsaker the late Advaita Sage,

Story is that Nisargadatta was of fiery disposition and lost it with some visitors, saying "You have been coming here with the same questions etc"

Later Ramesh said "Weren't you a little hard on the English peoples after all they did travel a long way to see you."

Nasargadatta said " Why dont you talk to them then?" that was that. The Grace of the Guru happened Rameh was enlightened.
To be clear he was ready for it. He translated and studied with Nasargadatta for a long period.


Any way the book is well worth getting for serious students of spirituality.

As a foot note Ramesh kept a photo of Ramana in full view when he put on the seminar I was at.
He said Ramana is the Guru's Guru.

This was a revolutionary read for me some years ago my martial arts instructor recommended it. That is an interesting anecdote, Greybeard.

I read a few follow up books to I Am That and I read a preface where Nisargadatta was described as having more urgency with his message as he was in failing health. That urgency expressed itself as a sort of caustic impatience. His other books get a bit more complicated if you are unfamiliar with the Vedas, in particular the Upanishads (which I am...). These are more unfiltered teachings for his compatriot students. I do believe his basic message is quite simple though and easily grasped... or not!

I do believe his basic message is quite simple though and easily grasped... or not!

If his message was easily grasped, no one would need this forum. I only know personally of one person who lives this message to its fullness and he is in the process of writing a 500+page book. He was told by his masters that he had to go beyond Nissagardatta and he has! I won't name him here.

Sorry you really lost me.
"I am that" is a phrase used by Indian Godmen.
They are in a non-dualistic state they are One with God.
They can truthfully say I am the totality all of it.
In that respect it is not possible to beyond Nissargadatta.
You can be One with him.
To be clear Only God is. We share One consciousness.

I speak from personal experience only because to do anything else is to bear false witness and create suffering for all. What was shared with me personally is that this person was told by their master to go beyond Nisagardatta's message. And he has done it. It is self-evident to me after reading his draft book.

Nisargadatta also told a devotee. Never mind reading the book, sleep with it under the pillow that will do it,

Frankly I read spiritual books because I am well aware that I need the uplifting energy.
The words are just the carriers of the vibration/frequency of enlightenment.

That Power is the energy that keeps the universe in its materialized state, that condenses energy from the unmanifest to the manifest.

That energy is in every atom in the space that is in every atom, in short every thing that ever was and is. It is the thought of God. We are that.

So you get to the point that you dont need to know about.
You are, "being."
