    Dear readers.........it is a catagory 1-2 cyclone, posted to "advice #5"...not a catagory 5.
currently it is a 1 out at sea, potentially becoming a 2 as it hits the shores...this causes alot of wind and rain, but is not
permanently destuctive. My husband lived there for 14 years and this is considered mild. Also, by the time it gets to the coast it ususally dissapates to a stong wind warning...
    Should be OK..
    Blessings

I live in Mackay and we are all getting prepared. Yasi is going to be the biggest cyclone to ever hit the east coast of Australia. The next advise is in 3 hours time. 11am our time. My sister is a teacher and a some of students families are packing up the car and heading inland tomorrow. Hay Point Coal Terminal are sending any fly ins home tomorrow and are reducing their office staff to a minimum. At present it looks like Yasi will cross the coast near Townsville which is 41/2 hours drive north from here but as the system is sooo large we will also get strong winds. Cyclones are so unpredictable. I think thats why most of them have womens names. he! he!........

For the people who are not actually in the predicted path and would therefore be otherwise occupied perhaps the rest of us could instead of focussing on how bad it could be, which is just what some nasty buggers would love for you to do, please help with some cosmic mojo cyclone dispersant...

Workmate was just telling me of something which happend in Cyclone Tracey.

A young bloke had gone out and had one hell of a piss up the night before. He and others passed out in the house. The next day. Only 1 was left, half the house was missing.

The guy who chose to pass out in the bathtub won the "you get to live" prize. Everyone else........

Hi Astrid - here's a follow up post - a request for others to help redirect and weaken the cyclone : https://projectavalon.net/forum4/show...f-Cyclone-Yasi and here's John's request : https://projectavalon.net/forum4/show...meliorate-Yasi , which I was unaware of . I urge everyone who reads this thread to join in support of all sentient creatures in the path of this cyclone.

Update: This thing is a big as Katrina!!!!!! Time for evacuation is now over, they now can only hunker down. Hospitals evacuated to Brisbane.. All services are waiting on the outskirts once it has calmed enought to start saving lives, which should be about 12 hours after it hits. Eye of the storm is 100km. Winds expected to be 280 - 300kph. Air pressure going down expected to be 920 hectopascals. Expecting sea rise of 4 metres.
Will hit the coast in 7 hours. wind and rain just starting on the coastal areas. Hamilton Island evacuated except for about 500 people.
Has moved slightly south on its trajectory
I feel so helpless!!! Much tears- They just had on man on, barely holding it together - he cannot get his wife and 4 year old daughter out
FYI - This is a huge agricultural area, bananas etc and the largest sugar export port in the world.

Wasn't sure which thread had the updates so put here and on the ameliorat Yasi one as well.

Fellow Avalonians, I have no proof whatsoever but I suspect that this cyclone may be the result of some sabre-rattling. It is very curious that we have had unusually heavy storms and flooding in VIC, NSW, and QLD states. At any rate, this presents us a golden opportunity to test our powers of manifestation. If we focus on calm and harmony we might collectively be able to bring this storm into balance. Who's up for it?

Sorry, too late..... I'm personally praying for minimal loss of life at this moment for them.

BTW: We almost had a cyclone here in Bunbury (West Aus) last weekend, but it petered out to nothing by the time it had reached us. Still, it was the hottest and muggiest I have ever expereinced on SUnday...so much so that it actually made me feel ill, and the heat has never affected me like that before. I can't help but think there's some man-made aspect to these storms we're expereincing at the moment...
