I want the same 'company' that imprisons people to supervise schooling of children, I thought that was local governments job?

In the US our government has passed on many duties to Private Companies. It helps them circumvent our freedom of information act and rights. We can not get to information of "private" corporate entities. It helps cover up anything from breaking the law to black projects by the government. In one case in my town a man was abused by the police in view of a public camera watch program sourced out to a private company. He could not get the tapes to prove it because it was ruled "private corporate information". But, anything he might of done would have be sent directly to the police. It's a one sided affair.

One use to be able to get trial memberships to Dun & Bradstreet. I have used my free trials up for other research projects. Other corporate reporting entities may have such programs as well

    Hope this helps.

Serco provides services to government with 70,000 employees. A revenue of 4 billions dollars. Net income of 130 million in 2009. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serco_Group

Nothing compared to Wall-Mart and its 2,100,000 employees, a revenue of 408 billions dollars and a net income of 14,3 billion dollars. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wal-Mart

I don't want to belittle Serco, they are quite big. That's a problem.

    Namaste, Steven

Wow, the same company building prisons and schools - explains a lot.

    Thanks for posting.

On a side note, I've been in the corporate world for a little more than a decade, and my job involves me interacting with companies from every field imaginable. You would not believe how many large companies are in the private sector that you have never heard of. I've met with companies that specialize in the most minute aspects of production that employ thousands.

This is one of the major problems in our society today. Most of us are brought up with no real life skills (cant build, grow, repair, sew, cook) and then find ourselves in a job writing reports all day about how shiny our departments cog is. Then that report is filed with the other cogs, all to ensure that a corporation that functions to polish a single spoke of a much larger wheel is profitable.

At the end of the day, we have no real skills, and spend 80% of our salaries on things that we could probably do ourselves if we knew how.

Lets figure out how to stop the cycle. Avalon as a model community is a good place to start.

Disquieting especially their ending statement," even if you haven't heard of them, you are probably caught in their web."
