The human body is a machine, an organic machine... a very complex one that our consciousness is using to interact with this plane of existence. And like others said in this thread, we can't become immortal because we already are immortal... it just means something a little different than what you'll want right now (while you are here).

@ twinnick and vlcers thankyou for your points, you have helped me understand a bit more clearly now.

When we pass on from this physical realm do you think that maybe our memory as what we know it is cleared, kind of restarted or refreshed?

Actually I think we know all when we are back home at the source or one and remember every experience we have had in our passed lives, it is here we do not remember them ( some do ). we are here for the lessons and experience we signed up for, we chose to come here at this time I believe.

I think if we remembered everything that was when we come here, well that would be cheating wouldn't it (LOL).

This date seems to be all based on Kurzweils ideas which seem to put technology over beings. He predicted that in 2030 we will be able to have nanobots waiting in an inactive state in our synapses that will be activated by virtual reality websites to put us into a preprogammed virtual reality that is designed by someone else.
The ideas that that future line are based one are being changed by a spiritual singularity that will change the entire basis of how we use and think about technology, our purposes in life etc. If the spiritual singularity doesn't precede further breakthroughs in nano tech and genetic manipulation I don't see civilization surviving it's own nature.

In other words if technology evolves too far ahead of love, its gonna get real ugly.
