Default The Five Stones - story for the future

I would like you to try to visualize something.

Imagine what world would be like, if anyone, on the day of their birth, would be given five stones, that would accompany him for all his/her life.

One cannot misplace them, trade them, have them stolen. Such is their magic.
The other part of their magic is they cannot be used to enslave or harm any other being.

If one touch the blue stone - she would give light or heat, depending on the need.

If one touch the silvery one - she would produce unbreakable filaments that can be woven into any shape, that would stay as long as the user would be around.

If one place the golden one in cup of their hand, it would produce a liquid that would quench thirst and heal any wound or illness.

The greenish one would condense globules of the matter, that will serve as a nourishment.

The purple one would allow to communicate with anybody close to the users heart.

And those are only the very base capabilities, available to anybody.
    ---------------------------

Imagine, what that world would be to live in?
    Imagine your life within it.

    Can you describe it?

Well, I'm not sure it there would still be enough challenge

    - for being creative
    - for watching nature's solution for problems
    - for communicating with others

    What do you think?

Lets dive into Morgensheutegesternkeit a little .. (that would be something like tomorrow-now-yesterdayness as far as Shakespeare allows)

    *****

There was a young man, that loved watching birds.

All days he spent in places where he could watch them start, soar and land.

After a while he took a silver stone, and woven a bird out of it.
The bird was such, that it encased him.. the blue stone served as a power to move them, the green one turned some of them into something resembling muscles.

Having what he observed in mind, the man took off.

It was not a success, but golden stone healed the wounds.

This time , and many times after that.

But after a while he sent his love a image of himself travelling with flock of geese high in the sky.

    *****

    the current breed of humans on the planet are a particularly inventive bunch. i'm sure they'd find a way to use the stones for negative purposes. However, there would be a lot of good uses too. Like;

The blue stone-humans would have contests to see which stone lights up the brightest

The silver stone would be used to create beautiful articles of clothing, and personal sculptures. the silver stone sounds like a material that's as soft and light and spiders silk, but is as strong as the steel cables used on bridges.

The golden stone would be used primarily in pranks. like switching someones beer with golden water.

The green stone wouldn't be used at all i don't think eating green goo... i dunno only in a dire situation i suppose. tho i would imagine it could be used in pranks also.

The purple stone sounds a lot like a cell fone.

    This was fun.

    Hi Luke

What a pleasant thread and an interesting and comprehensive approach!
How would the world look like? Everything would be possible. I imagine we could also affect other universes and get in touch with "things" far beyond our imagination and thinking. Limits would be gone.

    Kind regards,
    Dragonfly

I was just talking with a friend about this notion.

They said: But life would be without any challenge!

    I said...
    • You live in a warm, safe apartment with heat and light and power.
    • You have food in the fridge and plenty of clear, running water.
    • You are safe from wild animals or anyone who would want to harm you.
    • You can open your computer and communicate with millions of people all over the world.
    • You are not ill, and have the means to heal yourself if you are.
You already have the five stones.

So now what will you do?

That was exactly what I thought when I read it.
So what I would do with it is what I have already done with my life, what I am doing today
and what I may do tomorrow.

No, we do not have the stones yet IMO (or at least we do not know how to use them). This means we have to work hard to get all the benefits you have listed, and that many people in the world has no access to them, and that we are destroying nature to get them.

Addressing the remark about the lack of challenges, we'd have time to experience beauty (from a forest to a work of art), preserve it, and create new one. We'd have time to travel across the universe. We'd have time to enjoy.

Regarding the stones, isn't the pic a pentagram, and each of the stones one of the elements (air, fire, water, earth, spirit)?

    EDIT:

There are a few different flavours.

    That made me feel sad.
there are so many people around the world that does not have all this...or even one of those.
is there anything we can do for them, being the 'rich' people that we are??
at least love is in abundance.but to be able to connect to those love feelings (fillings) is quite difficult when one lives in poverty.(reminds me the exptional no legs,no arms,no possesions begger that inspired Bill in africa, but he was quite an unusual soul)

Luke,I believe there is a chance that we will be able to acquire those gem stones in our next (or the next after the next) evolutionary step as human.those gem stones will hopefully be inside us as inner abilities that will manifest to the out.

can we not assume that there are humanoid beings that already have those capabilities? than, were they left without challanges?well, its a shame we can not observe what happens in other places and dimensions in the universe(quick manifesting societies) and get a peek to the answer ourselfs,Are they resting on their laurels? i think not. i personally believe that challenges exist at every corner of our universe and the oportunities to grow through them will never cease.(these are my reflections on sepia's words:"Well, I'm not sure it there would still be enough challenge")
