    Default Loki, the master shaman

Loki is one of the major deities in the Norse pantheon. He is a son of the giant Farbauti ("cruel striker") and the giantess Laufey. He is regarded as one of Aesir, but is on occasion their enemy. He is connected with fire and magic, and can assume many different shapes (horse, eagle, fly). He is crafty and malicious, but is also heroic: in that aspect he can be compared with the trickster from North American myths. The ambivalent god grows progressively more unpleasent, and is directly responsible for the death of Balder, the god of light.
Loki's mistress is the giantess Angrboda, and with her he is the father of three monsters. His wife is Sigyn, who stayed loyal to him, even when the gods punished him for the death of Balder. He was chained to three large boulders; one under his shoulders, one under his loins and one under his knees. A poisonous snake was placed above his head. The dripping venom that lands on him is caught by Sigyn in a bowl. But every now and then, when the bowl is filled to the brim, she has to leave him to empty it. Then the poison that falls on Loki's face makes him twist in pain, causing earthquakes.
On the day of Ragnarok, Loki's chains will break and he will lead the giants into battle against the gods. Loki is often called the Sly One, the Trickster, the Shape Changer, and the Sky Traveler.

Icecold told who Loki was after a direct question.

Im just gonna add something to the picture. Legends tell that Loki was adopted

by Odin and accepted by the aesir tribe. When Odin and his tribe moved from the

steppes of what today is southern Russia they killed everything they met on the

way. When they had killed everyone in Loki´s village Oden saw that Loki was a

schaman like himself. And they changed blood and Loki joined the aesirs.

But Loki never forgot what had happened to his tribe and tried to take revenge on

    the aesirs.

He certainly did a lot to take p#ss on the aesirs. But never forget that he was the

one who had to put everything right again on every occasion he had disturbed

the aesirs. He was wot we can call the destroyer of meaning. But he was also the

creator of the new greater meaning.

In Ragnarok, all the old gods was defeated, including Loki.

After Ragnarok a new world, Gimle was created. a tiny insignificant piece of wot

    once was.

And according to the one who wrote down the myth of Ragnarok, the Icelandic

christian bishop Snorre Sturlason Loki evaporated like the other aesirs.

But my vision is you cant kill the destroyer of meaning, because that would stop

the world from evolving. So Loki became the new meaning, the christian church.

And this meaning rules ever since. But now we realize that this is just another act

of shapeshifting. The problem now is that Loki has gone far too far this time and

nobody is going to let the christian church create a new meaning.

So wot to do? Well, when the christian missionaries came up to us here in

Scandinavia and to Iceland they met two different groups of people. They met

those that worshipped the aesirs and they were easy to convert to their

beliefsystem. But they also met another group that were godless. When they

were asked wot they believed in they said. We just believe in our own power and

strength and it seems that it is those that have to create the new world.

    Tack to you for reading.

I just felt I had to tell a little more on the Loki story than wot is usually said.

Of course there is a lot more to say. This is the famous tip of the iceberg. LOL
