    Default Bill's House

I work with middle school kids and they are sometimes tough to deal with, but as of late, it's been pretty rough around here. My class is a mini-UN, with kids from many different countries, all in the 12-14 age group. They are taught to mediate conflicts for others in a school of 1,600 kids, of the same age.

This is how I feel about Avalon.
I love it and it means a lot to me.

This is Bill's house and he has invited us in, given us a key and use of the grounds. In return, we should be grateful, respectful of other guests, and engage in entertaining, educational and enlightening conversation and debate. Wonderful, engaging, respectful, civil discourse.

Of course we will have disagreements and misunderstandings, but we should approach each other immediately with the problem, attacking the problem not the person.

No games, no mysteries, no long, drawn out mystery-posts with more drama than we even have time to keep up with.

Go to the source first, seek to understand, and then to be understood.

Folks, we need to be a cohesive team more than ever now. We are here to foster an understanding for new people and visitors to our site.

This is an excellent alternative news source and research group, not the latest edition of National Enquirer.

Bill, thank you for my key.

    Respectfully, Mandala

I sent this PM to Lord Sidious just now. I love him dearly - but:
No more [real name given here] - no longer funny. You mean to help and cheer people up, but you're inadvertently starting to trivialize everything. There are serious discussions that need to be had. Please.

    All best wishes, Bill

If it weren't for Lord Sidious's carrots, we wouldn't have made it through the worm tongue thread and the follow-up to the worm tongue thread as well as we did. Carrots kept us together, you could say.

I'm sorry, Bill. I just wanted to answer Inelia's question. I won't mention it again.

Thanks for this terrific post. So important to understand.

Yes, this is the way I feel it too.

When a guest starts looking like the kind of person I (or others) should not have invited in the first place, then we will uninvite them. Recent events will make it clear that no-one is immune from the principle - which is a principle that holds to us all simply because we are all equal in essence.

I don't care at all if someone has been here forever, or arrived just yesterday. In families, the newest member sometimes does not yet know their way around - but just may be the person who will be a great teacher and will transform the world.

Age means nothing when it comes to value. And so it is with membership of the forum.

And the guiding principles apply to us all. It's one of the cornerstones of the creation of a new civilization.

Every time I come to make a comment, I ask myself : "Is this really important?" The answer is always "No". That is very frustrating. Then I think of advice a successful man once gave me: "The best idea in the world is no good if it is not acted on!!" What if I know something that might be of interest to others but don't know if they already know it? Is it worth the risk of wasting someone's time? So most of the time I say nothing.

    Hi Herbert

Not to worry everybody gets that feeling at a new forum (i still do here also) it is a very natural feeling. I/we/you could associate it with being in the schoolyard as a new member of the school you feel somewhat tentative about your approach to making an impression with those who will be friends of the future.
You will soon settle into the stride.

I very much look forward to the day when I can help with the upkeep of the grounds. Being here is a joy and a privilege, even when there is stress in the house. I am a person who has not been blessed with an abundance of friends and community, so all of you are like diamonds to me. You are still a shining light in the darkness; perhaps more than ever.

And if I win millions on xlotto I would like to buy Bill a nice motor home so he can travel around and work in comfort with all the trimmings..bathroom, air conditioning, comfy double bed, solar panels, battery banks, 12 VDC fridge and appliances, pure sinewave inverters, back up generator, satellite telly, and maybe 4WD if possible, just so he can get out in the bush if he wants.

    Hell, I'd like that too.

Thank you for inviting me into your house Bill. If it were not for you, none of us would be here and it will not be taken for granted! I will take my shoes off at the door, and hang my coat neatly. I brought you some cookies, and a spot of tea. (I have brought quite alot, as I see you have many friends over).
