Default The Power of Nightmares: The Rise Of The Politics Of Fear (documentary, 2005)

The Power of Nightmares, subtitled The Rise of the Politics of Fear, is a BBC documentary film series, written and produced by Adam Curtis. Its three one-hour parts consist mostly of a montage of archive footage with Curtis's narration. The series was first broadcast in the United Kingdom in late 2004 and has subsequently been broadcast in multiple countries and shown in several film festivals, including the 2005 Cannes Film Festival.

The films compare the rise of the Neo-Conservative movement in the United States and the radical Islamist movement, making comparisons on their origins and claiming similarities between the two. More controversially, it argues that the threat of radical Islamism as a massive, sinister organised force of destruction, specifically in the form of al-Qaeda, is a myth perpetrated by politicians in many countries—and particularly American Neo-Conservatives—in an attempt to unite and inspire their people following the failure of earlier, more utopian ideologies.

The Power of Nightmares has been praised by film critics in both Britain and the United States. Its message and content have also been the subject of various critiques and criticisms from conservatives and progressives.

    zeca61,

Wishing more people would watch this series, as I just had the most wonderful news the other day from my 17 year old son.

After watching this series, and conversations with me along the same lines for the last 4 years, he is now fully awakened and is forwarding all this info to his friends. I could not be any more happy if I tried!

He is getting ready to go off to University, as he has always wanted to be a teacher, Grades 7 & 8, and I can't help but smile knowing his pupils will have a teacher who thinks "outside the box".

Now that he is awakened, he is asking me now to resend all the information on UFO's, and the origins of humans, as he wants to do his own research now, to re-discover the hidden knowledge that he was not taught in school.

I highly recommend these video's for anyone trying to help someone to see some truths that they would not see in the mainstream of what we call news now a days.

I remember when this series was on TV ( It was made by the British Broadcasting Corporation and was actually broadcast - I watched it when it first came out).

One of the public comments on the BBC website blog at the time went something like "Made 25years of paying the license fee suddenly feel worthwhile"

It is truly a great series of programs and a great introduction for people who are less into this stuff.
