    Paleolithic

Anatomically modern humans evolved from archaic Homo sapiens in Africa in the Middle Paleolithic, about 200,000 years ago. By the beginning of the Upper Paleolithic 50,000 BP (Before Present), full behavioral modernity, including language, music and other cultural universals had developed.

The out of Africa migration is estimated to have occurred about 70,000 years BP. Modern humans subsequently spread to all continents, replacing earlier hominids: they inhabited Eurasia and Oceania by 40,000 BP, and the Americas at least 14,500 years BP.

A popular theory is that they displaced Homo neanderthalensis and other species descended from Homo erectus (which had inhabited Eurasia as early as 2 million years ago) through more successful reproduction and competition for resources. The exact manner or extent of the coexistence and interaction of these species is unknown and remains a controversial subject.

Evidence from archaeogenetics accumulating since the 1990s has lent strong support to the "out-of-Africa" scenario, and has marginalized the competing multiregional hypothesis, which proposed that modern humans evolved, at least in part, from independent hominid populations.

Geneticists Lynn Jorde and Henry Harpending of the University of Utah propose that the variation in human DNA is minute compared to that of other species. They also propose that during the Late Pleistocene, the human population was reduced to a small number of breeding pairs – no more than 10,000, and possibly as few as 1,000 – resulting in a very small residual gene pool. Various reasons for this hypothetical bottleneck have been postulated, one being the Toba catastrophe theory.

Most interesting discovery, Observer. Don't know much about it, because it isn't my area of expertise. I will try to investigate more about it.

Now we are over the hurdle of an understanding that there is more going-on with this story than is understood, let's move-on to the looting of Egyptian artifacts, as was pointed-out in MariaDine's comment #5, and #7.

Joseph Ferrell (who's interview can be found on the Camelot website) has been commenting about the looting in Egypt and has connected it to similar looting in Baghdad. It appears as though there is an 'element' attempting to collect certain information that may be revealed by the knowledge contained on certain artifacts.

Quote (Quoted from the Joseph Ferrell article linked below)
"The parallel to Egypt here amazes me, for the concentration is once again on looted objects of art, and allegations of an inside job – this time by Dr. Zahi Hawass and elements of the old regime – while it was Hawass himself, as I noted two days ago, who alerted us that more than objects of art have been looted, that “inscribed blocks” of some sort were also taken. But inscribed blocks, like cuneiform tablets, are not “sexy.” But if I am right, that someone, somewhere, is looking not for art, but for knowledge, then the real story in Egypt, as in Iraq, is being entirely overlooked… perhaps deliberately."

Antoine Gigal is a French writer and researcher, author of The Secret Chronicles of Giza and permanent correspondent in Egypt for the magazine L'Egypte.

She is also one of the founders of the organization Giza for Humanity Her early years were spent in Africa and South America where her father worked as a journalist and then as a diplomat.

This gave her the chance to travel all over the world at an early age exploring different cultures and civilizations. Later she went to the Sorbonne University in Paris and to the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations (founded originally by Champollion), where she graduated in Chinese and Japanese languages and and gained a reputation for translating an cient texts.

She also speaks modern Egyptian, Spanish and Italian fluently. For the last 20 years she has lived mainly in Egypt and has explored all the most remote archaeological areas, especially those not yet open to the general public.

With the eye of an astute detective and scrupulous research she brings us unprecedented access to new and first hand information to enlarge our understanding of very ancient Egypt.

Gigal now lives and writes for half the year in Paris and half in Cairo. She lectures extensively on Egypt and personally leads several in-depth study tours to Egypt every year.

Default Re: What Happened to Egypt’s Pharaohs?

    Amunet
or Amaunet, or Amonet was a primordial goddess in Ancient Egyptian religion. She is a member of the Ogdoad and the consort of Amun. Her name, meaning "the female hidden one", was simply the feminine form of Amun's own name. Therefore, it is likely that she was never an independent deity, but was created as his female counterpart.

The Egyptians also identified her with Neith and as the mother of Ra. By at least the Twelfth dynasty she was overshadowed as Amun's consort by Mut, but she remained locally important in the region of Thebes where Amun was worshipped, and there she was seen as a protector of the pharaoh. Amaunet was depicted as a woman wearing the Red Crown and carrying a staff of papyrus

In Egyptian mythology, Amunet (also spelled Amonet, Amaunet, Amentet, Amentit, Imentet, Imentit, and Ament) was originally the female form of the originally androgynous god Amun. Amun/Amunet was originally the deification of the primordial concept of air, in the Ogdoad cosmogony, Amun's name meaning (one who) is hidden, and Amunet's simply being the female form. Like all females in the Ogdoad, Amunet was depicted either as a snake or as a snake-headed woman.

When Amun became regarded with greater importance, and his identity increasingly overlapped with that of Atum, Amaunet, as his female form, became increasingly identified with Iusaaset, Atum's shadow. By becoming identified as Iusaaset, Amaunet was regarded as the mother of creation, and was seen as owning the tree from which life emerged. The androgeneity of Amun/Amaunet lead to Amaunet being said to be the mother who is father.

The name hidden one was also sometimes used to refer to the underworld, and so Amaunet grew increasingly associated with providing a welcome to the newly dead, since the tree she was associated with was said to be near Heliopolis, the place that bread was provided for the surrounding population, during winter.

As Amun was increasingly identified as a significant god, rather than mere concept, so Amaunet became increasingly identified as a distinct female goddess, eventually being said to be Amun's wife.

As Amaunet still was the goddess of air, she was sometimes depicted as a winged goddess, or as a woman with a hawk, or ostrich feather, on her head.

When she was later displaced as Amun's consort by Mut, she was said, as representing the air, to have become the lesbian consort of Iabet, the moon itself, and was depicted as such on tombs, coffins, and sarcophagi.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mut

So....Amunet (the femenine aspecta/Amon) was replaced by Mut , who turn out to be the stepmother of Konsu «the traveler»

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khonsu

Khonsu was said to be the son of SobeK http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sobek -and Hathor- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hathor

A two part presenter-led documentary series based on the best-selling book Legend: The Genesis of Civilisation by David Rohl. Based on his own archaeological research British Egyptologist David Rohl investigates an extraordinary and contentious theory which attempts to explain the origins of Egyptian civilisation as coming from ancient Mesopotamia.

In the process, this spectacular documentary series provides solutions to some of the great-unsolved mysteries of ancient Egypt -- astounding new discoveries which illuminate mankind's most tenacious legends. David Rohl presented Pharaohs and Kings, based on his book A Test of Time -- produced by Discovery Channel/CH 4 and Journey to Eden -- produced by TLC/Discovery Channel. Locations; Iraq, Egypt, London, Paris. The Egyptian Genesis is produced and owned by Firehorse Films and is for sale. French version bought by Canal + and Arte.

So I will be adding the videos that are connected with the theme thread.
Hope you enjoy. Feel free to help me.

Chronology is a major issue among us , historians. So. regard the attempt of David Rohl, as one of many attempts to find truth in clues of the past.

The Pyramid Code features interviews with prominent scholars and authors in multidisciplinary fields: geology, physics, astrophysics, archaeology, bilogical engineering, magnetic field theory, hieroglyphics, and Egyptology.
The series explores penetrating questions: * Who were the ancients and what did they know? * Could the pyramids be much older than traditional Egyptology would have us believe? * Could it be that the ancients were more technologically advanced than we are today? * Why do we have so little understanding of the ancient Egyptians? * Are there still secrets hidden in plain sight? * Do new discoveries force the issue of establishing a new chronology? * Are there little known sites that provide clues to a new understanding of our distant past? * Are we really the most advanced civilization to ever live on Earth?

    "HORUS WHO IS IN SIRIUS"

Isis and Osiris were among the four children born from the womb of the sky-goddess, Nut and fathered by Ra, the sungod. The other two children were Seth and Nephtys.

Osiris took Isis as his wife, and they became the first rulers of Egypt. At the age of 28 Osiris was brutally killed by his jealous brother Seth and his body cut into fourteen pieces. Isis recovered all of the pieces of Osiris' body except the phallus, which she could not find.

Isis fashioned an artificial phallus for Osiris, placed herself on it in the form of a kite, and became pregnant with his seed. She then went into hiding in the marshes of the Nile, and gave birth to Horus. From the Pyramid Texts and various other religious writings, it is clear that this myth has its counterpart in the stars, with Isis identified to Sirius and Osiris to the constellation of Orion.

In the Pyramid Texts it is said of Osiris-Orion:

"Your sister Isis comes to you rejoicing for love of you. You have placed her on your phallus and your seed issues in her, she being ready as Sirius, and Horus Sopd (a star) has come forth from you as Horus who is in Sirius…" [Pyr. Text line 632]
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

The symbol - Khepesh - «The Foreleg» - of an animal - was given as an offering in several important occasions , temple cermonies etc. ,but it also has other meanings , because of it's shape, as can be seen in the image.

«The Leg of Seth» as it depicts «The Big Dipper»

Set is in the heavens as the 'constellation of the Thigh'.

"The constellation of the Great Bear is the sign of Seth, as Orion is the star of Osiris and Sirius the star of Isis. Ii is related that Horus had cut out the fore-leg of Seth:

"And after he had cut out his fore-leg he threw it into the sky. Spirits guard it there: The Great Bear of the northern sky. The great Hippopotamus goddess keeps hold of it, so that it can no longer sail in the midst of the gods."

    Papirus. Jumilhac XVII, 11-12.

"In the stars of the Great Bear the Egyptians saw an adze or a fore-leg..." Seth, God of Confusion

    -------------
Based on that particular shape the egyptian fashioned a sword

Ps- Well, so far this is what I been researching for the University.

The god Sobek, which was depicted as a crocodile or a man with the head of a crocodile was a powerful and frightening deity; in some Egyptian creation myths, it was Sobek who first came out of the waters of chaos to create the world. As a creator god, he was occasionally linked with the sun god Ra.

In Egyptian art, Sobek was depicted as an ordinary crocodile, or as a man with the head of a crocodile. When considered a patron of the pharaoh's army, he was shown with the symbol of royal authority - the uraeus.

He was also shown with an ankh, representing his ability to undo evil and so cure ills. Once he had become Sobek-Ra, he was also shown with a sun-disc over his head, as Ra was a sun god.
