Hard Day's Night. Made me buy a guitar and have a very exciting life as a performer/musician while getting in touch with a deeper part of myself.

Involvement with any art is always a movement towards Spirit.

A Hard Day's Night...WOW, that takes me back to 1965...
I nearly lost my ear drums when all those school girls around me started screaming
in a plush velvet cinema at Picadilly Circus...
I guess that set the stage for me, too....
just four years later I got to shake John Lennons hand...determined fan that i was...

then "The Stalker" Russian movie by Andrei Tarkovski
Meetings with Remarkable Men....about the life of G. I. Gurdjieff

    "The Fisher King"
    "The Fifth Element"

I know what you are thinking, did I fire 5 shots or 6?
To tell you the truth, in the excitement, I don't know.
So the question you have to ask yourself is, are you feeling lucky today punk?
    Well?
    Are you?

I was originally going to put Lord of the Rings but thought it might be too cute. Thanks Bill.

I also agree with The Gods Must Be Crazy. That one really made you think about what you "need", and how those "needs" can lead to unintended consequences.

I wasn't woken up by a movie...but the film Waking Life, directed by Richard Linklater, is brilliant and I believe has the potential to awaken.... not quite mainstream though.

Escape to Witch Mountain (Disney) spoke volumes to me as a child.

Jacobs ladder was an eye opener for me...on the black ops side of things.

Altered states with William Hurt was pretty interesting

    Bliss (australian version)

I'm sure there are more, but that's all (apart from the ones already listed) that come up for now

Ohh, there are too many. The last movie that really got me thinking quite a lot was "The Adjustment Bureau" - German title "Der Plan " (the plan). The author of the novel on which this movie was based is very good. Written by my most loved Philip K. Dick. His live was really full of mysterious events. There is a lot of information about him. I do not think he went completely mad. There was a time in his life he got to much knowledge.

He also delivered the scripts for Blade Runner, Total Recall, A Scanner Darkly and Minority Report.

On February 20, 1974, Dick was recovering from the effects of sodium pentothal administered for the extraction of an impacted wisdom tooth. Answering the door to receive delivery of extra analgesic, he noticed that the delivery woman was wearing a pendant with a symbol that he called the "vesicle pisces." This name seems to have been based on his conflation of two related symbols, the ichthys (two intersecting arcs delineating a fish in profile) that early Christians used as a secret symbol, and the vesica piscis. After the delivery woman's departure, Dick began experiencing strange visions. Although they may have been initially attributable to the medication, after weeks of visions he considered this explanation implausible. "I experienced an invasion of my mind by a transcendentally rational mind, as if I had been insane all my life and suddenly I had become sane," Dick told Charles Platt.[28]

Throughout February and March 1974, he experienced a series of visions, which he referred to as "2-3-74", shorthand for February–March 1974. He described the initial visions as laser beams and geometric patterns, and, occasionally, brief pictures of Jesus and of ancient Rome. As the visions increased in length and frequency, Dick claimed he began to live a double life, one as himself, "Philip K. Dick", and one as "Thomas", a Christian persecuted by Romans in the 1st century A.D. Despite his history of drug use and elevated stroke risk, Dick began seeking other rationalist and religious explanations for these experiences. He referred to the "transcendentally rational mind" as "Zebra", "God" and "VALIS." Dick wrote about the experiences, first in the semi-autobiographical novel Radio Free Albemuth and then in VALIS, The Divine Invasion and The Transmigration of Timothy Archer, i.e., the VALIS trilogy.

At one point Dick felt that he had been taken over by the spirit of the prophet Elijah. He believed that an episode in his novel Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said was a detailed retelling of a story from the Biblical Book of Acts, which he had never read.

    Solyaris [1972]

    IMDB

I didn't realize that this movie actually started the awakening process until many years later (I was only 7 when I first saw it). But I believe it put a seed into my mind that grow during the years, and as late as last year the first sprout was ready to look at the sun
    I don't necessarily believe what I think,
neither do I always think what I believe

Planet of the Apes. Saw it when I was a kid.

Jonathan Livingston Seagull. (the film, not the book. The film was rather good -for what films are)

Saw THX1138 one night on TV when I was about 18, about 2 am. (Drunk and high) Blew my gaskets. To think that George Lucas has failed to make anything as good as that first film, to this day.

    2001 A Space Odyssey
    The Manchurian Candidate
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Pork Chop Hill,... really woke me up to the political aspects of waging war. I was still a child and suddenly realized how manipulative and callous governments could be, crushing my belief of waging war for the "right" reasons. I was 12 or so when it came out.
    Oh, and,...
