Default Quatermass and the pit. 1955 Disclosure?

I've just rewatched a film i remember from my early years, the difference in watching now is that i'm aware of current theories regarding secret space programs, alien astronauts etc. I highly recommend watching this as it makes direct references to the following,

    Weaponisation of space
    Bases on the moon
    Alien intervention on human development
Mars Origins from 5 million years ago ' we are the martians'
    12th century references
    Cave drawings of alien astronauts
    Military cover ups
    Paranormal psychology
    Von Braun and the nazis
    Machine that reads human mind.

If you haven't seen this classic film then i do recommend it, if you have seen, try re watching with above points in mind. At the very least it's a darn good watch. Definate one for a popcorn fest

It also made me dwell upon the fact or fiction scenario, ie which came first? Is it really disclosure? The storyline is so accurate to modern day theories that if you believe them, this is one of the very first disclosure through 'film' attempts.

Here is the first link, there are over twenty parts so take phone off hook

Thanks. However, "Quatermass and the Pit" did not appear till 1958-59, in the form of 6 TV episodes. Which one is this?

Alternatively, "Quatermass and the Pit" was made into a single movie in 1967 by Hammer Productions. Thankfully, you can download this as a single .flv file from Google Video here. It runs for 1:37. I'm downloading this now.

Which is better, the TV series or the single movie? Does the single movie include all the material in the TV episodes?

Yes your right about the 1958/9 release, lots of info given by the youtub user on that, i took a look at the 1967 version you mentioned and it just does not compare to the earlier version, imo. As i said its 21 parts of ten mins on tube, def worth a watch.

Finished it............. what a cool movie for its time. (eerie) Funny how those little martians looked like "Alien" sept on a smaller scale.

Cottage Rose n Witchy1, glad you enjoyed. So what do you think of all those references? Something or nothing? In any case, yes good watch, even for the mannerisms and styles of the day.

    *spoiler*

They seem to have nailed the "buffon" military style - even then. Prof designs amazing rocket for the right purposes and military take it over for the wrong purposes. Also once space ship discovered and media get hold of it, Military constructs believable story for the populace once the word is out and tells the Government the false story who then respond to populace saying its a hoax. Wow, that was 60 years ago. Some things just dont change

Anyway, Humanity discover the buried ship and its activated with ground vibrations. (as it has been many different times over the years). Local haunting occur when ground vibrations increase (as the ship activates, think this is a portal of some form) Appears that the inscetoids were bringing a ship of genetically altered humans back to earth to populate it with an upgraded version thanks to genetics or surgery about 5m years ago and crashed (as they often do)

When the ship activates thru sound it affects SOME peoples minds who are of the alien (pure) martian race breed who then try to kill anyone not like them. Everyone looks the same, but they can tell intuitively who is who. I think they called it harvesting time - where the pure ones destroy the not pure ones. I am not sure why the pure martian race wanted to inhialite the mutated race? Perhaps I missed that bit, or was it because they wanted to re-populate the earth with themselves?

You could fight the mind control by focussing on this world. It was interesting when they first started to "see" that those affected said that this world just disappeard and another (real?) one appeared. Also interesting was the ability of the mind to control inanimate objects - a natural ability for the alien breed that is currently asleep.

They had a god who could be destroyed by iron and water

The references appear to be spot on dont they (as you state above) Interesting that they had that portable machine that when attached to someones head could transfer what the mind was seeing into a live feed for TV and recording

Also intreresting they should say whoever lands on the moon or mars first would be the ones to monitor and control the earth. Quite a bit in it really. I wonder if this was done similar to the "war of the worlds" on radio - to check the population reaction to the concept? I also wonder if there may in fact be something buried in Knightsbridge - London that they know about. Must look up Hobbs lane.

I also wonder why they always have to be soooooooooooooo ugly!!!!!!! (including the Sigourney Weaver - Alien movies) I appear to have an inate revulsion for this type of creature. Fortunately it would appear today that at least some aliens are more humanoid than insectoid or reptilian - LOL
