    I've been speaking about reality or 3d timespace being an 'emergent' system, and how in that it reaches all theories and proposals based on extant measurements. that it fits theory and reality, it fits quantum and relativity theory and covers all the mysteries and questions.

    Well, here you go:

    New theory of gravity might explain dark matter

    A new theory of gravity might explain the curious motions of stars in galaxies. Emergent gravity, as the new theory is called, predicts the exact same deviation of motions that is usually explained by invoking dark matter. Prof. Erik Verlinde, renowned expert in string theory at the University of Amsterdam and the Delta Institute for Theoretical Physics, published a new research paper today in which he expands his groundbreaking views on the nature of gravity.

    In 2010, Erik Verlinde surprised the world with a completely new theory of gravity. According to Verlinde, gravity is not a fundamental force of nature, but an emergent phenomenon. In the same way that temperature arises from the movement of microscopic particles, gravity emerges from the changes of fundamental bits of information, stored in the very structure of spacetime.

    Newton's law from information

    In his 2010 article (On the origin of gravity and the laws of Newton), Verlinde showed how Newton's famous second law, which describes how apples fall from trees and satellites stay in orbit, can be derived from these underlying microscopic building blocks. Extending his previous work and work done by others, Verlinde now shows how to understand the curious behaviour of stars in galaxies without adding the puzzling dark matter.

    The outer regions of galaxies, like our own Milky Way, rotate much faster around the centre than can be accounted for by the quantity of ordinary matter like stars, planets and interstellar gasses. Something else has to produce the required amount of gravitational force, so physicists proposed the existence of dark matter. Dark matter seems to dominate our universe, comprising more than 80 percent of all matter. Hitherto, the alleged dark matter particles have never been observed, despite many efforts to detect them.

    No need for dark matter

    According to Erik Verlinde, there is no need to add a mysterious dark matter particle to the theory. In a new paper, which appeared today on the ArXiv preprint server, Verlinde shows how his theory of gravity accurately predicts the velocities by which the stars rotate around the center of the Milky Way, as well as the motion of stars inside other galaxies.

    "We have evidence that this new view of gravity actually agrees with the observations, " says Verlinde. "At large scales, it seems, gravity just doesn't behave the way Einstein's theory predicts."

    At first glance, Verlinde's theory presents features similar to modified theories of gravity like MOND (modified Newtonian Dynamics, Mordehai Milgrom (1983)). However, where MOND tunes the theory to match the observations, Verlinde's theory starts from first principles. "A totally different starting point," according to Verlinde.

    Adapting the holographic principle

    One of the ingredients in Verlinde's theory is an adaptation of the holographic principle, introduced by his tutor Gerard 't Hooft (Nobel Prize 1999, Utrecht University) and Leonard Susskind (Stanford University). According to the holographic principle, all the information in the entire universe can be described on a giant imaginary sphere around it. Verlinde now shows that this idea is not quite correct—part of the information in our universe is contained in space itself.

    This extra information is required to describe that other dark component of the universe: Dark energy, which is believed to be responsible for the accelerated expansion of the universe. Investigating the effects of this additional information on ordinary matter, Verlinde comes to a stunning conclusion. Whereas ordinary gravity can be encoded using the information on the imaginary sphere around the universe, as he showed in his 2010 work, the result of the additional information in the bulk of space is a force that nicely matches that attributed to dark matter.

    On the brink of a scientific revolution

    Gravity is in dire need of new approaches like the one by Verlinde, since it doesn't combine well with quantum physics. Both theories, crown jewels of 20th century physics, cannot be true at the same time. The problems arise in extreme conditions: near black holes, or during the Big Bang. Verlinde says, "Many theoretical physicists like me are working on a revision of the theory, and some major advancements have been made. We might be standing on the brink of a new scientific revolution that will radically change our views on the very nature of space, time and gravity."

    https://arxiv.org/abs/1611.02269 (the article itself)

    According to Einstein's theory of general relativity spacetime has no intrinsic properties
    other than its curved geometry: it is merely a stage, albeit a dynamical one, on which
    matter moves under the influence of forces. There are well motivated reasons, coming
    from theory as well as observations, to challenge this conventional point of view. From
    the observational side, the fact that 95% of our Universe consists of mysterious forms
    of energy or matter gives sufficient motivation to reconsider this basic starting point.
    And from a theoretical perspective, insights from black hole physics and string theory
    indicate that our `macroscopic' notions of spacetime and gravity are emergent from an
    underlying microscopic description in which they have no a priori meaning.

    ... ... ... ...

    In the latter context it was realized that this same formula also determines the amount
    of quantum entanglement in the vacuum [8]. It was subsequently argued that quan-
    tum entanglement plays a central role in explaining the connectivity of the classical
    spacetime [9]. These important insights formed the starting point of the recent theoret-
    ical advances that have revealed a deep connection between key concepts of quantum
    information theory and the emergence of spacetime and gravity.
    Currently the first steps are being taken towards a new theoretical framework in
    which spacetime geometry is viewed as representing the entanglement structure of the
    microscopic quantum state. Gravity emerges from this quantum information theoretic
    viewpoint as describing the change in entanglement caused by matter. These novel
    ideas are best understood in Anti-de Sitter space, where the description in terms of a
    dual conformal field theory allows one to compute the microscopic entanglement in a
    well defined setting. In this way it was proven [10, 11] that the entanglement entropy
    indeed obeys (1.1), when the vacuum state is divided into two parts separated by a
    Killing horizon. This fact was afterwards used to extend earlier work on the emergence
    of gravity [12, 13, 14] by deriving the (linearized) Einstein equations from general
    quantum information theoretic principles [15, 16, 17].

    The fact that the entanglement entropy of the spacetime vacuum obeys an area law
    has motivated various proposals that represent spacetime as a network of entangled
    units of quantum information, called `tensors'. The first proposal of this kind is the
    MERA approach [18, 19] in which the boundary quantum state is (de-)constructed by
    a multi-scale entanglement renormalization procedure. More recently it was proposed
    that the bulk spacetime operates as a holographic error correcting code [20, 21]. In this
    approach the tensor network representing the emergent spacetime produces a unitary
    bulk to boundary map defined by entanglement. The language of quantum error cor-
    recting codes and tensor networks gives useful insights into the entanglement structure
    of spacetime. In particular, it suggests that the microscopic constituents from which
    spacetime emerges should be thought of as basic units of quantum information whose
    short range entanglement gives rise to the Bekenstein-Hawking area law and provides
    the microscopic `bonds' or `glue' responsible for the connectivity of spacetime.

    In other words, extra dimensions ...and recognition of that is existential, not relative or Newtonian. That the Newtonian analysis is incapable of seeing into the emergent, it can only see into the space that has emerged. That gravity and specetime are not fundamentals. They are emergent and quantum-differential.

    The quantum entanglement nature gives us our psychic aspects ...but all that can come through ...will appear to be two dimensional, out of time, and/or ephemeral. Ie, cloud like holographic integrational aspects can create access for form. smoke, haze, fog, vapour, and so on, can and does provide quantum bit level holographic parallel access/transfer. Or, ph shifted fluids, gasses, particle mixes, and so on. The white powder of gold, for one.

    Reminds me of how my Dad (who dropped out of school when he was about 12 years old) explained the abbreviations B.S., M.S., and Ph.D.:
    • B*ll Sh*t
    • More of the Same
    • Piled higher and Deeper
    (except that he didn't soften his words with the sounds of asterisks.)

    More seriously, in my view, this new theory of gravity is another layer of obfuscation, on top of a century of obfuscated physics.

    See this recent post of mine for what I consider to be a far better theory of gravity, thanks to Robert Distinti. Scan down the post for the words: "Perhaps the most difficult property to incorporate into these sorts of theories is gravity."

    ===

    P.S. -- if Verlinde's calculations work out to compute the force of gravity from "the changes of fundamental bits of information, stored in the very structure of spacetime," then perhaps that's because his "fundamental bits" are really the pretons of Distinti's ether, given an information theoretic gloss.

    Hmm...
    Given that any acceptable G.U.T. must address the question of infinity and inevitably (eventually) accept an infinite number of infinities...

    Holographic systems as a construct to support such possibilities would seem an almost logical choice, no?

    But what I really want to see is the Piled Higher & Deeper paper which addresses the question posed by the elephant in the room -

    Having an infinite number of infinities to play in would not any and every possible question already have been asked and answered except for maybe one...

    Why are we all doing this again?

    They seem to finally be arriving at the premise, or at least part of the premise.

    Study reveals substantial evidence of holographic universe

    A UK, Canadian and Italian study has provided what researchers believe is the first observational evidence that our universe could be a vast and complex hologram.

    Theoretical physicists and astrophysicists, investigating irregularities in the cosmic microwave background (the 'afterglow' of the Big Bang), have found there is substantial evidence supporting a holographic explanation of the universe—in fact, as much as there is for the traditional explanation of these irregularities using the theory of cosmic inflation.

    The researchers, from the University of Southampton (UK), University of Waterloo (Canada), Perimeter Institute (Canada), INFN, Lecce (Italy) and the University of Salento (Italy), have published findings in the journal Physical Review Letters.

    A holographic universe, an idea first suggested in the 1990s, is one where all the information that makes up our 3-D 'reality' (plus time) is contained in a 2-D surface on its boundaries.

    Professor Kostas Skenderis of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Southampton explains: "Imagine that everything you see, feel and hear in three dimensions (and your perception of time) in fact emanates from a flat two-dimensional field. The idea is similar to that of ordinary holograms where a three-dimensional image is encoded in a two-dimensional surface, such as in the hologram on a credit card. However, this time, the entire universe is encoded."

    Although not an example with holographic properties, it could be thought of as rather like watching a 3-D film in a cinema. We see the pictures as having height, width and crucially, depth—when in fact it all originates from a flat 2-D screen. The difference, in our 3-D universe, is that we can touch objects and the 'projection' is 'real' from our perspective.

    In recent decades, advances in telescopes and sensing equipment have allowed scientists to detect a vast amount of data hidden in the 'white noise' or microwaves (partly responsible for the random black and white dots you see on an un-tuned TV) left over from the moment the universe was created. Using this information, the team were able to make complex comparisons between networks of features in the data and quantum field theory. They found that some of the simplest quantum field theories could explain nearly all cosmological observations of the early universe.

    Professor Skenderis comments: "Holography is a huge leap forward in the way we think about the structure and creation of the universe. Einstein's theory of general relativity explains almost everything large scale in the universe very well, but starts to unravel when examining its origins and mechanisms at quantum level. Scientists have been working for decades to combine Einstein's theory of gravity and quantum theory. Some believe the concept of a holographic universe has the potential to reconcile the two. I hope our research takes us another step towards this."

    The scientists now hope their study will open the door to further our understanding of the early universe and explain how space and time emerged.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    For those that have not read much of this thread or my musing on such, I tend to be able to see through this thing we call time. When I see such constructs in our so called real 3-d waking world... they are predominantly 2d and flat in appearance.
    Dimensional transfer and translation going on within episodes of astral projection -- have the same evidential trail.
    This, as a data package... seemingly indicates that this particular mechanism is seemingly independent/seperable in some way.... and capable of moving information from one fundamental condition or state, to the next.
    Note that Nevada is known as 'The Lithium State', and that the the suspected alien underground base is just north west of Area 51, dead smack in the middle of the Nevada Lithium reserves.
    Although this is an old thread I wanted to leave this here as a side note,
    The Nuclear powered Subterren is said to use Lithium to melt the rock while boring. Find it interesting with the connections between bases, Nevada and the mention of Lithium.
    Lithium has a strange history on its usage
    Don't know if this has been touched on but My brother and I in Austin in the late 80s came upon a whole case of 7up that was turned in for deposit at a grocery store. It must of been in some basement of some grandpa because they looked like this.
    When it was initially released, the lemon-lime soda that we know as 7-Up was clumsily called Bib-Label Lithiated Lemon-Lime Soda. “Bib-Label” referred to the paper labels on the bottle, and “Lemon-Lime Soda” obviously referred to the flavor. The “Lithiated” bit, of course, refers to the lithium citrate that inventor C.L. Grigg hoped would make the drink seem more healthy. The drink was also marketed as “slenderizing,” which is ironic because weight gain is now a known side effect of lithium.
    At the time, many people were flocking to springs that contained lithium-rich water. The tradition is actually an ancient one, as Cornell’s Anna Fels explains in her Times column:
    Lithium has been known for its curative powers for centuries, if not millenniums. Lithia Springs, Ga., for example, with its natural lithium-enriched water, appears to have been an ancient Native American sacred site. By the late 19th century Lithia Springs was a famous health destination visited by Mark Twain and Presidents Grover Cleveland, William Howard Taft, William McKinley and Theodore Roosevelt.
    Another thing I learned is that if a bipolar gets off of lithium to control their bipolar tendencies they have weird reactions and then can't get on lithium again. I've seen this personally with someone and also professionally as a special ed teacher. It really helped them when they were on it.
    Mad Hatter once again dons his quizzical hat... and apologies up front for again interrupting normal programming ...
    Here's a thing that has been puzzling me somewhat, given that the second law of thermodynamics states that the total entropy of an isolated system can never decrease over time. The total entropy can remain constant in ideal cases where the system is in a steady state (equilibrium), or is undergoing a reversible process.
    Which if my translation to layman's terms is correct means energy can not be destroyed or created but can only be made to change form, then would not the observable universe logically have to be finite and would this not falsify the currently accepted explanation for division by zero?
    I comprehend that mathematics is merely a language used by many to explain observable facts and I am by no stretch of the imagination adept, but to my simple mind I am having difficulty determining which is bullsh!t... The 2nd Law of thermal dynamics or the mathematical explanation for division by zero? If it is the latter then the point I was making in my previous post is moot but if it is the former then those adept in the language must be highly deficient in their ability to observe factual evidence... go figure!
    On another note with regard to the 2d aspect of things have you seen anything of Gerard Morin's work? He also has arrived at your concept of it all being 2D but not in the way you have... in his case he explains that the 2D nature of things is translated to 3D via our faculty of 'perception'...
    anyhoo cheers 4 now and resume normal programming.
    I've probably missed posting a good hundred articles in this thread - the kind that provide more interconnected structure to it's complex and varied meaning.
    Here's one I have decided to place in it.
    Something right up my alley, technology wise. As I've already delivered into the public realm, in official accepted papered ways... the basics for the engineering of it's more final forms. That....the pathway exists. What I'm talking about is transmutation, dimensional boundary crossing and creation and elimination or transmutation of matter via those sort of channels:
    Scientists combine light and matter to make particles with new behaviors
    Scientists combine light and matter to make particles with new behaviors
    by Louise Lerner, University of Chicago
    Credit: Petr Kratochvil/public domain
    Every type of atom in the universe has a unique fingerprint: It only absorbs or emits light at the particular energies that match the allowed orbits of its electrons. That fingerprint enables scientists to identify an atom wherever it is found. A hydrogen atom in outer space absorbs light at the same energies as one on Earth.
    While physicists have learned how electric and magnetic fields can manipulate this fingerprint, the number of features that make it up usually remains constant. In work published July 3 in the journal Nature, University of Chicago researchers challenged this paradigm by shaking electrons with lasers to create "doppelganger" features at new energies—a breakthrough that lets scientists create hybrid particles which are part-atom and part-light, with a wide variety of new behaviors.
    The research is part of a greater effort in Assoc. Prof. Jonathan Simon's lab to break down the walls between matter and light, in order to investigate their fundamental properties. In addition to learning about how materials behave at the quantum level, this work could one day help create more powerful computers or virtually "unhackable" quantum communications.
    One step along the way to making matter out of light is to make individual packets of light, called photons, interact with each other like matter does. (Normally photons zip along at the speed of light and don't react to each other at all.)
    "In order to make photons collide with one another, we use atoms as a go-between," said postdoctoral researcher Logan Clark, who led the research. "But we were running into a problem because the photons only interact with atoms whose electronic orbitals are at very particular energies. So we asked: What if we could make copies of the orbitals at whatever energies we wanted?"
    Clark had already developed techniques to manipulate quantum matter by shaking it —called Floquet engineering—as part of his Ph.D. project. The right sort of shaking naturally produces copies of quantum states at multiple energies along the way. "We had always viewed the copies as a side effect rather than the goal," he said, "but this time, we shook our electrons with the specific intent of making the copies."
    By varying the intensity of a laser field tuned precisely to an atomic resonance, the team was able to shift the orbitals of an electron. Shaking the orbitals by periodically varying this intensity produced the desired copies.
    But these doppelgangers come with an important catch: "While the atomic orbital does appear at multiple distinct energies, it is important to note that these copies are actually bound to the original like puppets," explained postdoctoral researcher Nathan Schine, a co-author on the study. "When any of the copies shifts, the original and all of the other copies shift with it."
    By allowing photons to interact with these shaken atoms, the team has created what they call "Floquet polaritons"—quasi-particles which are part-light and part-atom, and unlike regular photons, interact with each other quite strongly. These interactions are essential for making matter from light. Making polaritons with shaken atoms can give the polaritons much more flexibility to move around and collide with each other in new ways.
    "Floquet polaritons are full of surprises; we're still continuing to understand them better," Clark said. "Our next order of business, though, will be to use these colliding photons to make topological 'fluids' of light. It is a tremendously exciting time."
    Having copies of an atomic state at multiple energies also offers exciting possibilities for optical frequency conversion—a key tool in creating secure quantum communication methods.
    "It turns out shaking things is not only a lot of fun, but can lead to some really fascinating science," Clark said.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    It feels a bit weird that they are 'touching my stuff', but that was the whole point from the beginning. That this cannot go forward without a mass of people getting on board. Then again, I don't own any of this, nor am I an original. Just one who became involved in it, like some others.

    This is the technological door for almost every mystical, and high technology aspect of any kind (indistinguishable from magic), that you've ever heard of or speculated upon. Every bit mentioned in this thread and pretty well any thread of mystery and unknowns you've dealt with. All the books, all the articles, all of it. all your own personal thoughts and experiences. What is the thing that connects ....through them all?
