Default A visit from the census

    Uploaded on 8 April 2011 -
Quote My conscience wont allow me to co-operate with this years census because it has been subcontracted to Lockheed Martin. I was editing another video when the lady from the census banged on the door. I tried ignoring her but she kept banging, as the camera was to hand i grabbed it and filmed our encounter.

That was hysterical!!! (and I don't mean at the cost of the nice lady), but the fact that you were ready with a line of questioning put back on the system at large! I'm not in the "know" as you might be, but when the census was taken here, there was some gut feeling I had about this that did not sit well with me. I too did not follow or fill out the paper work sent to my household (myself and my partner). My instinct on this was, if creditors, courts (sending notices for jury duty), basically any and all systems including "junk mail" have your name and address, how is it that our Government would be lacking this info.? Especially when one files taxes EVERY year! I resisted the first "tactic" which was then followed (like with you it seems) with "personal" visitations! Quite frankly, I think I'd rather have had an abduction! Anyway, the first person was a young gentleman who was at my door as I came up behind him coming home from work. He was attaching a notice on my door pertaining to his visit to which I told him I am not interested in filling out the census and that I was tired from a long day at work and I want to make my dinner and be left in peace thank you very much. He tried to politely assert the importance of the census to which I interrupted him and again told him I was not interested. He then had a personality change and said that if I didn't complete it he would have no alternative but to report me to his "higher ups"! Well I'm not exactly a 'shrinking violet" and I basically told him where he could stick his threat! This was then followed up by SEVERAL other visits. The last one was by two young sweet girls. When they knocked on the door and I opened, they were standing on the front stoop and I could see this "guy" standing out there on the sidewalk (about 20 feet away). I remember thinking "He looks familiar" and then I remembered it was that guy I yelled at a couple weeks earlier. He saw that I noticed him and just and I mentioned to the two young ladies "who is that guy out there watching us?" he walked away quickly. Both girls had turned to look but he was already out of sight and they acted like they had "no idea" of what I was talking about. By then I was so sick of the stalking I filled the stupid waste of time and money census (which I lovingly call "senseless") and bid them an "un-fond" farewell!! To this day I kick myself for not sticking to my guns. I would have loved to seen how carried away the situation would have become. Anyway, I applaud you for your pluck Sir!!! Cheers to you!!!!

Awwwww bless! The "silent" revolution at its best.
I also do feel sorry for the lovely sheeple they sent, and perhaps he too sent her on a journey of discovery.

I heard that they were fining people up to £1000.00 for nor handing their forms in. I would have had my Father Christmas sack of 1 cent coins ready........

Can you get fined/jailed for filling in the form falsely?

If not - wouldent filling it in - Like every answer being SDGAAHHERFJDHA - a junble of letters that make no sense whatsoever for every answer. And random numbers for the number related questions. be enough for them to get the point you're not going to cooperate?

If filling out the form wrongly is not an option..... how about an obsticle coarse to get to you're front door? Just make sure you leave via the back yard for a while and stick up a private property, tresspassing etc etc sign on you're back gate. As well as a Webcam pointed out a window towards said gate (even if its not recording , as long as she's plugged in and the lights on so it looks like it is)

Obstacle coarse at front door = Go do you're gardening . Pile up all the clippings right on the door so the door and the doorbell are inaccessable without spending about 5mins to physically move stuff. Rose bush clippings on the outside layer so theres a good chance they get nicked if they try to clear to you're door.

Other than that.... Can you deterr them so they do not want to come into you're house?
IE they start knocking and every perosn in you're house starts screaming at the top of their lungs or making animal noises or the such.

Just some ideas in hopes of making you're Censis avoiding time more pleasurable.

Go have a look at the other thread about the census, remedies are discussed in there.
As for the vid, what a way to deal with it.
No confrontation, no swearing, no threats, just pure compassion.
I tip my hat to the bloke.
