Doubts grow on US version of strike against bin Laden

The head of the CIA has admitted that there was no live video footage of the raid on Osama bin Laden's compound as further doubts emerged about the US version of events.

Leon Panetta said there was a 25-minute blackout during which the live feed from cameras mounted on the helmets of the US special forces was cut off.

The photograph (above) issued by the White House appeared to show the President and his aides in the situation room watching the action as it unfolded. In fact they had little knowledge of what was happening for long periods.

''Once those teams went into the compound I can tell you that there was a time period of almost 20 or 25 minutes where we really didn't know just exactly what was going on. And there were some very tense moments as we were waiting for information,'' Mr Panetta said.

If the operation lasted over 40 minutes inside the compound and the feed was lost for 25 minutes sometime prior to that, wouldn't that still allow for some footage?

US out to clarify details of raid on Osama bin Laden residence - May 06, 2011 11:42AM



THE Americans who raided Osama bin Laden's lair met far less resistance than the Obama administration described, new information released about the raid confirms.

And although unarmed, bin Laden had an AK-47 and a pistol in his room, and was "not compliant", a US official said[/B].

"He had weapons in his room, more than one," said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

"He was not compliant. He did not surrender."

New details about the raid have confused, and in some cases contradicted, what was thought to be be known about the top-secret mission.

Pakistan's role in, or knowledge of, the incursion into their country is also unclear.

US officials have sought to clarify the precise details of the raids, which has garnered extensive international interest.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has revealed that her dramatic reaction, as captured in the now iconic Situation Room photo, may not have been the result of what was happening on the screen at the time.

White House photographer Pete Souza snapped a photo of the national security team watching the raid on Osama bin Laden unfold and Clinton's face in particular was striking ("The mystery of what’s happening off camera is captured wholly in the expression on Hillary’s face" said Newsweek's photo editor).

LOL! No offense, but are we believing the CIA's statements about OBL now? As far as i know, they are still separate from the Navy Seals who allegedly performed this mission. With respect, it seems that everyone is cherrypicking their news sources to confirm their own personal version of the events.

One (of several) things really stuck with me from the Pete Petersen interview and that was the remark about a certain percentage of people had dna that was more immune to mind control.

Perhaps most "modern people" have less of an "option" to ignore government/media than would seem likely. Sometimes it sure seems that way.
