Familiar, medium-tempo music. (too slow is sleepy, too fast is, kinda panicky.)

Breathe in and out through your nose, or at least in through your nose. Try to consciously slow down your breathing just a little bit - take slower, longer, deeper breaths.

Don't daydream about the future, even the future in 5 minutes or tomorrow. Stay present. Look at the colors of things, the shapes, the sizes, the smell of the air right now, the sound of the music right now.

Conscious recognition of specific objects and their attributes, such as "that blue car is shiny" and "the smell coming from that cattle truck is awful" as they occur will help keep you present.

Sending love and peaceful energy your way, Simone.

    Dennis

Cold cloth in a bag. When you start feeling flushed use it and wipe your face and drink juice. Cold juice and it should pass with just being a flush. It can start with a dizzy spell or flush. You have to also at least smile and think to yourself ... 'I'll be fine in a second' because it does pass and then you'll be fine for a while. Yes I have them many times.

They say don't drink fizzy drinks but it seems to help me. I use the can to cool myself of also. It's just annoying and strange so you just need to find the right thing that suits you. Most important thing is your not going to stop breathing. Doesn't matter how bad it gets you'll not stop breathing. It's in your head so you really have to distract yourself like Dennis said above.

Everyone has different ways of dealing with it. I'm sure one of these solutions on this thread will suit you.

Your not alone with this problem.

    Big love

    Ski-

Pilotsimone, know that you are loved by your husband, children, family and friends--including those of us who do not even know you. We are all in this journey of life together. Think of your moving experience as a wonderful new adventure where you and your family will make lots of new and wonderful friends and will enjoy a whole world of new experiences. The loved you left behind are not gone or truly left behind, you will just experience and interact with them in new ways. Love is the key and if you approach your new adventure with Love, all will be just fine.

Imagine a violet light all around you, around the car, around your husband’s van. See your car and van traveling along the road enclosed within this violet light. This light will keep you protected. Whenever you feel afraid, picture the light around you all again and know that you are safe. This is divine protection.

Make sure the cats are contained (boxed or caged) when the car is moving. They will feel safer that way. When not contained they should have halters and leads. You don't need any hysterical or wandering cats to contend with.

Take a stretch stop every hour or hour and a half where the kids can get out and wiggle and you can let down your hair.

Chew gum or dried fruit to keep your mind present. Don't get too tired, thirsty or hungry.

Try EFT (tapping on merridian points) while professing self aceptance. Good for pain too.

    Hello pilotsimone

Have you tried playing some relaxing music? It may help take your mind off the stress you are feeling …

Love and peace to you. JP
As a sensitive myself, I do best when I am all into music that I love and sing or butt dance to (that's moving your upper body while you're sitting). Another idea would be to play interesting CD's that are inspiring and uplifting - like Jerry and Esther Hicks, or Gangaji, or any number of interesting speakers.

Maybe at one of your rest stops in a town you can look in bookstores for CD's, even an audiobook. Deep breath, holding in for 7 seconds, blow out slowly through nose, pause for 7 seconds, and over a number of times will at least get some oxygen in those tense muscles. Good luck! Our thoughts are with you.

Sending peace and calming energy to you!

I,too, have had unreasonable panic attacks when traveling - there would be no rational "reason" and yet I felt nearly insane with the intensity of emotion.

Using Bill's analogy of a rider calming a horse, one can tryto connect in a loving way with the body and identify the "fear". Taking deep breaths and using a higher self, you can sometimes begin to acknowledge that the body is in "flight or flight" mode and start to talk it down. Many other wonderful suggestions here, I am sure some will help. Take care and safe journey.

I agree with the music part. Start singing. that always helps me on long trips when I get restless. I sing and "butt dance" like Mystique. I find it quite entertaining.

    Hi Pilotesimone,

Close your eyes, take deep breaths in and out, feel the air moving through your body, visualise it in whatever form it takes. Now imagine a time that was wonderful and loving in your life and recreate that feeling. A word of caution, please do not attempt this while driving

I am sending healing energy your way.

    Love to you
