    How Poor Are You?

Here is something to think about.

It all depends on how you look at it.........

One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live.

They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.

On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, 'How was the trip?'

    'It was great, Dad.'

'Did you see how poor people live?' the father asked.

    'Oh yeah,' said the son.

'So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?' asked the father.

    The son answered:

'I saw that we have one dog and they had four.

We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end.

We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night.

Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.

We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.

We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.

We buy our food, but they grow theirs.

We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.'

    The boy's father was speechless.

Then his son added, 'Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are.'

Isn't perspective a wonderful thing? Makes you wonder what would happen if we all gave thanks for everything we have, instead of worrying about what we don't have.

Appreciate every single thing you have, especially your friends!

Pass this on to friends and acquaintances and help them refresh their perspectives and appreciation. One thing we should all remember is that when we appreciate what we have ~ we are blessed. When we hoard instead of sharing ~ it takes a whole world of additional "guards" to protect it, so that it becomes difficult if not impossible to enjoy at all. And then the day comes when it must be returned to it's rightful owner.

The Elite and so-called richest among us have not been able to protect anything of value. The best things in life are free and do not need our maintenance and upkeep. Share what you have and you'll never be without what you need.

Much is a simple matter of perception. The best part is that perceptions can change. Much easier than we can, and if we are able to change perceptions, we are able to change ourselves and have that new state of "being" manifest in the world.

When we steal from others and become "rich" it is necessary to guard our plunder. What a drag! This little story reminds us there is a much greater spirit of abundance to life available to us ~ if we just open our own hearts and allow it to be manifested. It's how we shall create a whole New Earth where all is shared and creativity reins in a most love filled environment it's possible to create. We can do this!

    Much love! xoxoxox

Stars fill our skies if we look up. Which one are you?

Thanks Darla, yes its great being 'poor' in the country! Wide open spaces, stars at night are brilliant. The stream that feeds the ponds, then giggles on its way. Animals have acres to roam around. No locks on doors, leave the keys in all the vehicles. Know all the neighbours and watch out for one another. Chooks and ducks and birds of all sorts. Gardens and orchards. A poor life in paradise!!

    Hi Darla,

That was a great story. It was such an inspiration to me and also shows how children see things in a way that we have long forgotten due to "growing up process", lol.
