Default Can we take control of the banks?

I have been thinking lately about taking my money from the bank and keeping it all at home. I know this may sound silly, but if the majority of people did this, would the banks still have the power and control that they do?

We allow them to hold our cash. We are taught to think this is the only way to keep your money safe. I am tired of these big banks having the upper hand, when we in fact have the power.

Is it possible to live like we did before Debit and Credit cards took over, and pay for everything in cash? Wells Fargo and Chase Bank are now charging to have debit cards. They are testing this out in some states. I am constantly being asked to open credit cards when I shop. I tell these people, I do not use credit cards but use my debit card.

If every person withdrew their money from bank accounts, what would banks do? I know this sounds like a pipe dream, but what if?

Not sure this is such a good idea - they might just get another 'bailout'

If you do, buy precious metals - gold, silver, etc. Then your money will retain value.

The way I look at it, you can not eat precious metals, I want to invest in a farm instead.

If you live in US, take your $ from the banks and place it in Credit Unions. They are community and membership based. If you live elsewhere, start a credit union!!

    Greetings

I think it wise to keep your money in a locally owned/operated bank....a hometown bank...
Having said that, I also think it wise to keep a couple months' monetary needs in cash in your pocket/home...or somewhere you can access quickly...in case banks are ordered closed.
