    Via SolarHam:

"Sunspot 1895 continues to rotate into view off the southeast limb and we can now see what appears to be a fairly large trailing spot section. Continue to monitor this region for potential activity over the next 24 hours. It should also be noted that old active region 1875 still about a day away from returning onto the Earth facing side of the sun. With 1890 still in view, a higher solar flux value is likely during the upcoming week."

M2.4 flare from the new sunspot! Expect more to come.

Via SolarHam: "Solar activity is currently moderate with an M2.4 solar flare detected around new sunspot 1897. The active region is in close proximity to sunspot 1895, but deemed to be magnetically independent from one another. Sunspot 1890 is fairly stable this morning as it continues to transit the southwest quadrant. There will remain a chance for at least moderate M-Class solar flares around both sunspots 1890 and 1897. All other visible regions remain stable. Old sunspot 1875 is now located just behind the east limb and will begin to rotate back into view within the next 24-48 hours. The region appears to have been stable the past few days based on STEREO Behind EUVI imagery. Stay tuned for the latest updates."

Amazing flare shown here. I am guessing this area is about to face us in a few days. Hopefully the tantrum will end before that.

Right near the end is a little tidbit regarding the recent cmes and the power grid.

Nothing major going on, just a minor M1.4 solar flare. The Sun has been relatively quiet, however the current risk for M-Class: 60% and X-Class flares is 30% so better to keep an eye out. Upcoming sunspot 1899 looks really huge. Best way to stay up to date is to follow this page: http://solarham.net/data.htm

I enjoy this guy's updates. His voice reminds me of how it was back when we could listen to 'news' that was real.

Sun has some great sunspots at the moment, but it just really isn't flaring any longer. Only a minor M1 flare today. There haven't been any sundiving comets in two weeks... I think that they were actually activating the Sun. Or what say you, Rocky?

Nice map showing vertical total electron content of the ionosphere @ post #1329. Useful if any of you use HF radio. Dose anyone here use HF radio?

It's an indication of what frequencies will propagate hour to hour. An extremely variable measurement by location and time, which is normal.

Forgive an ignorant question {just trying to make sense of things here, and am grateful for all of the wisdom on this thread}, but can anyone explain to me what causes images like this to occur?

The following from the STEREO site may be of some assistance:
    http://stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov/artifacts/artifacts.shtml

My understanding of this is that usually these sorts of images are the result of corrupted data being sent from the satellite due to any number of reasons.

Thank you, panopticon. I was wondering, because that was the last image showing until 22:12, and all of the others seemed to stop for the duration aroundabout the same time as well. I wasn't sure if it was because we had a flare that wasn't reflected in the data as yet, or if something else was responsible.

About 6 hours ago I got a major headache!!! Thought it might be the full moon working on me, on top of a restless night sleep last night, but it looks like another instigator was at play as well. Thanks!!

Video also talks about earthquakes and their telltale signs.

Can i just throw this one out there because it's a question that keeps rolling around in my mind and i haven't had the time (or the knowledge) to be able to work it out

If today is Saturday November 23rd and comet ISON goes around the Sun on Thursday November 28th, when is the last day, within this timeframe, to be looking at the 'backside' of the Sun for any possible directly Earth-facing sunspots that could rotate round into a directly Earth-facing position ?

    Thanks
