Suspicious Observers mentioned a northern sun diving comet today. Sometimes that up ticks flares going off. Probably would come from the departing spots. We shall see.
Yeah, that could ignite the Sun once again. Also, we've seen a lot of quake activity lately.

Regarding the sun-diving comet Fairy mentioned on the 19th, spaceweather.com has this:

Quote UNUSUAL COMET DIVE-BOMBS THE SUN: Astronomers are puzzling over a comet that passed "insanely close" to the sun on Feb. 19th. At first glance it appeared to be a small object, not much bigger than a comet-boulder, doomed to disintegrate in the fierce heat. Instead, it has emerged apparently intact and is actually brightening as it recedes from the sun. Click to view a post-flyby movie recorded on Feb. 20th by the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO):

Unofficially, the icy visitor is being called "SOHO-2875," because it is SOHO's 2,875th comet discovery.

Karl Battams of the Naval Research Lab explains what's odd about SOHO-2875: "It's a 'non-group comet,' meaning that it does not appear to be related to any other comet or comet family that we have on record."

Most comets that SOHO sees belong to the Kreutz family. Kreutz sungrazers are fragments from the breakup of a single giant comet many centuries ago. They get their name from 19th century German astronomer Heinrich Kreutz, who studied them in detail. SOHO-2875, however, is not one of those fragments.

"Non-group comets like this appear a few times a year, so in that sense it's not too unusual," continues Battams. "But this one is relatively bright. The big question most people will have now is, Can I see it, or will I be able to see it, from Earth? At first I thought the answer was no. But I am very pleasantly surprised--shocked in fact! The comet has brightened dramatically and now is sporting an increasingly impressive tail. Visibility from Earth in a few weeks is no longer out of the question, although I still wouldn't put money on it."

"I'll continue to tweet updates on my twitter.com/SungrazerComets feed, so folks can follow along there too."

Just when I thought that we would see no sunspots we got a few more flares which I had hoped for. M1 flare earlier and just a moment ago we had M1.2 flare.

Kp index at level 5, I guess that's a minor geomagnetic storm, also the electrons seem to have a bad day.

    WOW! Yep!

Departing sunspot 2290 is giving us a salute: first, an M1.0 peaking at 0639 UTC, then an M1.1 peaking at 09:48 UTC and just in, an M3.7 peaking at 15:28 UTC!

    And another....

Sunspot 2290 produced another flare: an M4.1 peaking at 19:21 UTC:

News from spaceweather.com RE: earlier flare:

Quote SOLAR FLARE AND RADIO BLACKOUT: Departing sunspot AR2290 erupted on March 2nd at 15:30 UT, producing an M3-class solar flare. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory caught a twisted plume of plasma rising up from the blast site on the sun's northwestern limb:

A pulse of extreme UV radiation from the flare ionized the upper layers of Earth's atmosphere on the dayside of our planet. This caused a blackout of radio transmissions at frequencies below 10 MHz. The effect was particularly strong above South America and parts of the south Atlantic: blackout map. The explosion might have produced a CME, but coronagraph data are not yet available to evaluate this possibility. Stay tuned.

Cool, the sun seems to be active again! Although solarham says this:

    M-Class: 05%
    X-Class: 01%

    Update from spaceweather.com:

Quote SOLAR FLARES AND RADIO BLACKOUTS: Departing sunspot AR2290 is crackling with M-class solar flares. The strongest so far, an M8-class explosion on March 3rd @ 01:35 UT, almost crossed the threshold into X-territory. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded the extreme ultraviolet flash:

A pulse of radiation from the flare ionized the upper layers of Earth's atmosphere on the dayside of our planet. This caused a blackout of radio transmissions at frequencies below 10 MHz. The effect was particularly strong above Australia and parts of the south Pacific: blackout map.

More blackouts are in the offing. NOAA forecasters estimate a 25% chance of M-class flares on March 3rd, subsiding to 10% on March 4th as sunspot AR2290 rotates onto the farside of the sun. Ham radio operators and mariners may notice disturbances to HF communicatons during the next 24-48 hours.

Did you miss this flare? We might get more fireworks soon.

Haha, Fairy Friend, you have given 3333 thanks at the moment. Yeah, that was M3.1 flare, not bad. You know, this one peculiar thing has been happening lately. I'm not sure of it's due to my latent psychic abilities, but every single time I think there could be flares even if there haven't been any in a while, the Sun always flares after that. It would be crazy to think that I would be able to conjure any flares, but maybe I just get a premonition? I still have that nagging feel that more flares could be coming, but maybe this time it's just a mathematical probability instead any psychic vision.

I don't think that's crazy thinking at all and I've even had the same thoughts myself. Maybe the flares are counjuring us. I definitely think us humans are more linked to the Sun than we are clued into.
