I can't figure this out. Here are my symptoms. I have been totally listless since last Wednsday. I am sleeping alot EXCEPT at night!!!! For the last several months, I have been able to stare at the sun for approximatly 40 mins between 3 and 3:40 pm with no ill effects. I realize that we are to expect some physical symptoms of ascension but most of them are hard to kive with right now- except for the sun gazing, which I love and look forward to daily.
you might want to check out this thread, as it has some resources to read about physical symptoms with relation to solar activity.

    Thanks Sidney
I checked the op on the thread and yes all of these conditions that you mention applied to me at some point in time.
What's a male version of bitchiness? smiling.
Im sure that applied to me too.

Simply put, EXTREME irritability, short fuse. (and NOT smiling) LOL

Interesting, I wonder if we will see more activity on the Sun when this happens.

Large colonal hole cometh... There might be strong earthquakes next week, but do note that big coronal holes don't always automatically create earthquakes. Also we are expecting a minor geomagnetic storm soon. Otherwise solar activity has been really low.

“Globe may be on path to Little Ice Age…Much colder winters…Dramatic consequences"!

Suspicious0bservers has been talking about that topic for a while now... A mini ice age just in less than two decades doesn't sound very pleasant. Hmm... I'll might have to think about relocating somewhere else in the years to come because normally winters are long and freezingly cold here (except for 2007-2008) I wouldn't want any more cold weather than that!

Not much to report other than that there is a slight increase in solar activity, the big coronal hole is facing us and hours ago there was a M 6.4 quake in Indonesia. Let's hope that the there won't be any bigger quakes this week. Geomagnetic field is quiet for the moment.

Quote Attached image below by SDO/EVE captures the second of a pair of C-Class flares around Sunspot 1817 in the southern hemisphere. The latest flare measured C8.4 at 21:58 UTC Sunday evening. Although not a strong flare, this happens to be the largest Earth facing X-Ray event since July 8th. Continue to monitor SolarHam.com for the latest information.

Wakey-wakey, M1.5 Flare! The Sun is active again and so is Earth.

Quote The first M-Class solar flare since July 3rd was observed around Sunspot 1817 in the southern hemisphere. The moderate M1.5 solar flare peaked at 10:41 UTC. The expanding active region is now in a geoeffective position for possible Earth directed eruptions. Stay Tuned SolarHam.com for the latest information.

That is one large coronal hole! Though also a bit concerning when it comes to the earthquakes...

    RE: the coronal hole:

Quote CORONAL HOLE: A coronal hole has formed in the sun's northern hemisphere, and it is spewing solar wind into space. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory photographed the UV-dark gap during the early hours of August 14th:

In the image, above, the sun's magnetic field is traced by white curving lines. The coronal hole is where those magnetic field lines have opened up, allowing solar wind to escape. A stream of solar wind flowing from this coronal hole is expected to reach Earth on August 16-18. NOAA forecasters estimate a 25% chance of polar geomagnetic storms when the windy stream arrives.

Hmm... The Sun calls me to fulfill my duty again!

Quote M3.3 Solar Flare Detected + CME
The solar X-Rays are alive again. A moderate M3.3 class solar flare peaking at 18:24 UTC Saturday afternoon was observed around Sunspot 1818. The initial flare itself was fairly impulsive in nature, however the solar X-Rays soon rose above the M1 threshold as magnetic activity surrounding the region continued to reverberate. The flare was associated with a 10cm Radio Burst (TenFlare) lasting 25 minutes and measuring 150 solar flux units. Type II and IV sweep frequency events were also detected, including a Type II radio emission with a velocity of 1399 km/s. Stay Tuned for updates regarding a CME.

CME UPDATE: A coronal mass ejection (CME) is now confirmed in the latest coronagraph imagery released by STEREO Ahead and Lasco. The plasma cloud is very bright, but appears that a majority of the ejected material was directed to the south and west. An Earth directed component is possible however. Stay tuned for the latest updates.

    What's up from spaceweather.com:

Quote ANOTHER CME IS ON THE WAY: As Earth passes through the wake of one CME, which did little to stir geomagnetic activity on Aug. 20th, another CME is on the way. NOAA forecasters expect a coronal mass ejection hurled into space yesterday by an erupting magnetic filament to deliver a glancing blow to Earth's magnetic field on Aug. 23rd. High-latitude sky watchers should be alert for auroras.
And a sun diving comet plus (IMO =) flare:

Quote SUNDIVING COMET AND FULL-HALO CME: A small comet plunged into the sun on August 20th. Just before it arrived, the sun expelled a magnificent full-halo CME. Click to view a movie from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO):

In the final frames of the movie, the comet can be seen furiously vaporizing. Indeed, those were the comet's final frames. It did not emerge again from its flyby of the hot sun. "With a diameter of perhaps a few tens of meters, this comet was clearly far too small to survive the intense bombardment of solar radiation," comments Karl Battams of the Naval Research Lab, who studies sungrazing comets.

The CME (coronal mass ejection) came from an explosion on the farside of the sun. Although the CME and the comet appear to intersect, there was probably no interaction between the two. The comet is in the foreground and the farside CME is behind it.

Occasionally, readers ask if sundiving comets can trigger solar explosions. There's no known mechanism for comets to spark solar flares. Comets are thought to be too small and fragile to destabilize the sun's magnetic field. Plus, this comet was still millions of kilometers from the sun when the explosion unfolded.

The comet, R.I.P., was a member of the Kreutz family. Kreutz sungrazers are fragments from the breakup of a single giant comet many centuries ago. They get their name from 19th century German astronomer Heinrich Kreutz, who studied them in detail. Several Kreutz fragments pass by the sun and disintegrate every day. Most, measuring less than a few meters across, are too small to see, but occasionally a bigger fragment like this one attracts attention.
I found this quite shocking (at first):

This may explaing why the readings for Solar Wind were off the wall and under the rug the other day:

Quote Sun Fires Solar Storm Directly at Earth
By Mike Wall, Senior Writer | August 20, 2013 02:18pm ET

The sun unleashed a powerful storm early Tuesday morning (Aug. 20), sending an enormous cloud of superheated particles rocketing toward Earth.

The solar eruption, known as a coronal mass ejection (CME), occurred at 4:24 a.m. EDT (0824 GMT) Tuesday and blasted billions of tons of solar particles toward Earth at a mind-boggling speed of 2 million mph (3.3 million km/h).

"Experimental NASA research models, based on observations from NASA's Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory, show that the CME left the sun at speeds of around 570 miles per second, which is a fairly typical speed for CMEs," NASA officials wrote in an update today. NASA's twin Stereo spacecraft and the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, operated by NASA and the European Space Agency, captured photos of the solar storm from space.
