Another excellent video with music to match.

This thread really has some wonderful energy in it!

I'm really excited about the late November observations that both STEREO Ahead & Behind will make on Comet C/2012 S1 (aka Comet ISON). If there is a connection between solar activity and comet proximity that's where we'll see fairly definitive evidence of it (if the data isn't fudged). Then there's the late December "fly-by" (though we wont be in the same ecliptic) which could be really cool and something to remember.

For those interested the Comet ISON Observing Campaign site has a bit of info on it (including a couple of amateur astronomers photo's of the comet).

Another two sundiving a few days ago...

Quote Sunspot 1884 now in a great geoeffective position generated an impulsive M6.3 solar flare peaking at 19:53 UTC. Impulsive flares are not generally known to produce large coronal mass ejections, however I will provide updates should a plasma cloud be directed our way. Stay tuned to www.solarham.com for the most up to date space weather news and information.

Let me guess Nick. You believe Comets are "Dirty Iceballs" because the Masters at NASA tell you that? Let me guess...you don't know what the Plasma Electric Universe is or never heard of McCanney's "Plasma Comet Discharge Model" is? You don't know that Mars started sparking BIG TIME upon the close approach of ISON? Go back to troll school boy.
Why not just say: "Nick, I think you are wrong because..." which is probably how you would prefer to be challenged on a public forum. It is also the kind of approach likely to encourage debate.

those 2 massive flares followed a mysterious sun diving comet/neutron bomb which seems to have closed all of those far side sunspots except a couple...

we have an earth facing flare going off right now and a magnetic filament that wraps across the top of the whole face of the sun...

The images jump from 9:12 to 15:00. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Exactly ten years ago on this day we measured... Or at least tried to measure the stronger solar flare ever. It was facing away from Earth so the impact was minimal. If it would have faced us then it woud probably have fried at least some of the satellites and many electronical devices, perhaps even the grids.

a pretty big sunspot is swinging towards us right now, looks like a filament collapse launched a CME southward, which is good, being an earth directed blast...

    Eruption and CME

Quote Solar activity increased to moderate levels on Tuesday morning with an impulsive M2.5 solar flare around sunspot 1890 at 08:18 UTC. This appears to be in conjunction with an eruption in the southeast quadrant that generated a coronal mass ejection (CME) now visible in the latest LASCO C2 imagery. So far it appears the plasma cloud is heading mostly towards the south.

    Via SolarHam:

Quote Moderate solar flare reaching M3.8 at 13:46 UTC centered around sunspot 1890. Attached imagery by the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) captures a large stream of plasma jetting above region 1890 following the M3.8 solar flare this morning. Stay tuned for updates regarding a possible CME.
