Interesting pic, bashi. Reminds me of many dreams I've had, but the twisters were on land, not over the water.

Tornado in Flagstaff leave thousands in devastation

Tuesday was a devastating day for the Flagstaff residents, for as many as four Tornados pass through Flagstaff, leaving behind a trail of torn roof tops, destroyed homes, wrecked cars and uprooted trees, making the damages in the area extensive.

Tornados in Flagstaff not only derailed several train cars, but destroyed a number of homes, leaving hundreds homeless; however there are no reports of any injuries in the area.

An eyewitness Tina Williams of Bellemont said, it was unreal, as she saw two of her neighbors’ homes being destroyed by the tornado. She said she actual felt her home being shifted by the twister.

Flood hits Central Vietnam, leaving 85 dead, missing

According to the National Committee for Floods Prevention and Control, Quang Binh province recorded 36 fatalities and 44 injured victims, with 17 people still missing. The 16 other deaths came in Ha Tinh, Nghe An and Quang Tri provinces.

Flood inundated innumerable houses in Ha Tinh while 34,650 houses in Quang Binh, over 10,000 in Quang Tri and more than 7,200 accommodations in Thua Thien-Hue were submerged in floodwater.

More than 3,149 people in Quang Binh’s Tan Hoa commune have left their homes as flood waters submerged the roofs, and moved to a limestone cave in a mountain for shelter.

The army has been using boats and helicopters to move people to safety and deliver food to the affected area.

Hungarian Sludge May Become Toxic Cancer Cloud

"Thousands of Hungarian residents battling to contain the flood of poisonous red sludge have been warned to wear face masks because as the slurry dries it will turn into a toxic dust cloud.

"The damage so far has come from the mud but with dry, hot weather and strong winds forecast over the next few days, the environmental disaster is expected to spread.

"Environmentalists said high levels of arsenic and mercury, which can cause cancer, had been found in water polluted by the ooze and that, if airborne, this could enter the human respiratory system."

“So far in 2010 there have been over 80 natural disasters, including the Haiti earthquake that killed 230,000 people and the recent floods in Pakistan that have affected 21 million people.”

That's the 10-month record for 2010. But how about this for the past week alone:-

    • Three days of incessant rains in Bangladesh have left at least 17 people dead and
41 fishermen missing. Tens of thousands of people are stranded as waters triggered by
a tidal surge have inundated thousands of homes in the low-lying coastal zone
    • More than 1,000 villages flooded on China's Hainan island following the heaviest
rain for decades. More than 210,000 people had been evacuated by late Thursday,
with more downpours forecast for Friday. The torrential rains have been falling for more
than a week and are the worst on the island off China's southeastern coast since 1961.
    • Hope faded Thursday for people listed as missing after floods killed at least 49 in
central Vietnam. In Quang Tri, roads and agricultural land remained inundated. "This
will certainly affect rice production for the winter-spring season."
    • More than two dozen earthquakes have shaken north central Arkansas in the first
eight days of October. All were minor but it begs the questions what's causing the
tremors and could the next one be stronger?
    • AUSTRALIA - Roads are cut and thousands lack power after up to 250mm of rain was
dumped on southeast Queensland over the weekend.

Didn't a near Earth object whizz by us in the last few days? And we still have almost three months to go before we hit 2011....

Crank up your central heating and get out your thermals... because winter is about to bite.

Icy polar winds are to sweep across the country from tomorrow, with temperatures plummeting to below freezing and up to 2ins of snow forecast for parts of the north by the end of the week.

Millions will wake up to frost this week, but the worst of the weather will hit Scotland and North-east England.

43 landslides hit Azerbaijan in nine months this year

128 areas suffered from landslide in the past 30 years in the republic. Heavy rainfall last spring caused intensive landslides in the country’s territory. 43 disaster areas were registered in the past nine months, including right bank of Aghsu River, 1, 6-8, 9-11 and 27 km of Mughanli-Ismayilli highway, road between Duryan village of Lankaran region and other residential areas, 32 km of Lankaran-Baliton road, as well as road between the Havzava and Istisu settlements of Girdani village of Lankaran, 45 and 48 km of Guba-Khinalig road, 147-151 km of Baku-Shamakhi-Aghsu highway, 16 and 25 km of Yardimli-Masalli highway and other territories.

Taking possible heavy rainfall this autumn into account, the Ministry of Emergency Situations warns the drivers and citizens living roadside areas to avoid the sites with different splits, leakages in the water and sewage systems, deformations in the electric and telephone pillars, to move to the secure areas and to inform the relevant organizations about the incidents immediately.

    Salutations to all,

Sorry to be against the main stream again

Russia has declare a month ago the they expect the Coldest weather in 1 thousand years.

2 Weeks ago, Ireland, UK and Scotland warned their citizens that this winter will be one of the coldest since a very long time.

Remember the gulf stream broke for awhile after the BP negligence and the underwater oil is slowing down the gulf stream from 8 km an hour on average to about 5km average, therefore, theheat coming out of it will Hurt, Iceland and west europe.

Last datas showns that there is already a layer of ice near gröenland, earlier than usual.

As for North America, expect the same kind of cold and snoe as last year.

Remember there there where cold records in Peru and many south america countries this summer.

You should isolated your windowws, it cost about 20 dollars and tae about 2 to 3 hours of work.

First with the tranparent stuff, isolate some windowws from the outside, then with an incense stick pass it in front of the woindow and Isolate from the interior, not all of them you need fresh air.

Then with the incense stick put it in front of electrical plugging socket on the walls, a lot of cold air goes trough there. Turn off electricity and ask at your home depot the stuff to isolate this that DO NOT BURN.

Then take a look at you dryer. Outside make sure that it does closed the plastic thing, then tight up you pipe of the dryer that sends hot air outside.

ALways leave a good eblanket in the dryer it will reduce the outgoing air.

Finally the kitchen fan, again go outside and make sure that the plastic close properly when the fan is not working and put a plastic over the fan and remove it WHEN you COOk.

Remeber to make sure that your outside doors are well seeled, you can buy for about 10$ an isolator for the bottom of the door.

    Hoping this will help

Oh BTW, snow is a good isolator, push the snow to your outside wall but remember to remove it in spring because the water can hurt the foundation

BANGKOK, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Areas of Bangkok went under water Sunday as flood water pouring from the north and northeast reached the capital with higher levels of water expected later this week, Thai officials said.

"Flood water has already arrived in Bangkok," Chalit Damrongsak, director general of Irrigation Department, which operates dams across the country, said in a national televised program.

Chalit said flood water in Bangkok is expected to rise further on Oct. 27-28 as sea level will reach its height.

However, Bangkok Governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra told reporters on Sunday he believed his officials would be able to prevent flood water from reaching key commercial areas in the inner city.

Death toll has now jumped to 28 as almost half of the country's provinces have now been affected by current flood, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation said on Sunday.

The department said 2.48 million people in 31 provinces out of 76 provinces in the country have now suffered damages from the flood with 4,058 square kilometers of farm land ravaged.

Residents in affected provinces, many of whom have to live on rooftop or shelters as water reaches as high as 1.5 meters, have said they have never seen such severe inundation in decades.

Because of heavy monsoon rains in recent weeks, reservoirs of many dams in higher grounds in the north and northeast have reached their full capacity of holding water. Officials, therefore, have to release water from the reservoirs to protect the dams. The water then flows downstream to flood provinces in lower areas.

Large volume of water is still being let out of these reservoirs as of Sunday as rains are still pouring in some areas of the north, said Chalit of Irrigation Department.

Bangkok Governor Sukhumbhand said the city has shored up existing embankments around the inner city, built after the last major flood in the capital in 1995, to protect key commercial areas from flood.

Volcano puts Indonesian officials on high alert

Jakarta, Indonesia (CNN) -- Indonesian officials have gone on high alert and have started evacuations as they warily monitor Mount Merapi, a volatile volcano in central Java that might erupt at any time.

"The local government is coordinating to evacuate around 40,000 villagers to the pre-assigned shelters," Neulis Auliasari of the national disaster coordination board said Monday.

Seismic activity has intensified, signaling that an eruption is imminent, according to Indonesian volcanologists.

The 3,000-meter Merapi is famously unpredictable, though. A pyroclastic flow -- a fast-moving burst of blistering gases and rock fragments -- is a key concern.

One killed two people in 2006 and another killed more than 60 villagers in 1994. About 1,300 people died when Merapi erupted in 1930.

I was searching for information about the 6 Million fish that just died in Bolivia back in August, from Cold Temperatures...

and ran across an event map...

    Global Event Map

Last August hundreds of thousands of dead fish washed up from New Jersey to Boston, OIL on Long Beach...

They say the east coast fish all died from lack of oxygen...

this page has links to tons of Utube videos, I'm trying to figure out the spread of the Corexit throughout the ocean...

if it hit our east coast in the beginning of August, there should already be reports coming out of Europe...

I was reading where it already hit the conveyor and traces are being found around the antarctic the only confirmed spread in the Pacific came through the canal on a ship... It has spread faster than originally predicted...

Everyone keep your eyes open for additional info...

Hurricane Richard batters Belize but then weakens

Quote Hurricane Richard has hit the Central American nation of Belize, knocking out electricity and blowing off roofs, but no deaths or injuries were reported.

Some 10,000 people took shelter in schools and churches.

Richard was downgraded to a tropical depression as it headed west-north-west with its winds decreasing to 55km/h (35 mph).

It is moving at 13km/h (8 mph), and is forecast to reach the Gulf of Mexico by Tuesday morning.

Mexico's state-run oil company Pemex said it did not expect Richard to affect offshore oil production.

Earlier on Monday, Patrick Jones of the Belize radio station Love News FM told the BBC that there was "massive flooding" in Belize City, after the hurricane blew in just to its south.

Quote Indonesia tsunami: Death toll soars to 282
    Full Story with Video

Quote Rescue teams on the Mentawai islands say hundreds are still missing, two days after a 7.7-magnitude earthquake triggered a tsunami in western Sumatra.

Officials say there were faults with an early warning system designed to alert locals to the 3m-high (10ft) wave.

Indonesia's president has cut short a trip to Vietnam to visit the islands and oversee the relief operation.

Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono flew back from a meeting with regional leaders to help deal with the tsunami aftermath.

On Thursday he is expected to tour the region to monitor relief efforts. He will also be briefed on the rescue effort on Java, where an erupting volcano has caused chaos.
    Warning doubts

At least 10 villages on a series of islands known as the Pagai islands are thought to have been flattened by the tsunami, caused by the earthquake late on Monday.

Waves reached 3m high and the water swept as far as 600m inland on South Pagai.

The devastation is only now beginning to emerge, says BBC Indonesia correspondent Karishma Vaswani.

The first aerial images emerging from the Mentawai Islands showed bodies being collected from empty clearings where homes and buildings once stood before they were levelled by the power of the wave.

Corpses were strewn along beaches and roads, said district chief Edison Salelo Baja...

"Pagai Islands is very close to the epicentre, so the waves reached Pagai Island in just five or 10 minutes. Even if the buoy is on, it is still too late to warn people," said Ridwan Jamaluddin, of the Indonesian Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology...

"About 10 minutes after the quake we heard a loud, thunderous sound. We went outside and saw the wave coming. We tried to run away to higher ground but the wave was much quicker than us," Borinte said...

Yowza! – Here’s a satellite image of a storm of record-breaking proportions. On October 26, 2010, the strongest storm ever recorded in the Midwest spawned 24 tornadoes, 282 reports of damaging winds, violent thunderstorms, and torrential rains. The mega-storm reached peak intensity late yesterday afternoon over Minnesota, resulting in the lowest barometric pressure readings ever recorded in the continental United States (except for from hurricanes and nor’easters affecting the Atlantic seaboard.) The storm continues today (Oct. 27) with more tornado watches posted for Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia, a blizzard warning for North Dakota, high wind warnings for most of the upper Midwest, and near-hurricane force winds on Lake Superior.

Read more about this super-storm on Weather Underground, but see below for what extremely low air pressure means.

'Suddenly trees, houses and all things in the village were sucked into the sea'
Death toll from tsunami, eruption surpasses 400; hundreds more missing

MENTAWAI ISLANDS, Indonesia — The fisherman was jolted awake by the powerful earthquake and ran with his screaming neighbors to high ground. He said they watched as the sea first receded and then came roaring back "like a big wall" that swept away their entire village.

"Suddenly trees, houses and all things in the village were sucked into the sea and nothing was left," Joni Sageru recalled Thursday in one of the first survivor accounts of this week's tsunami that slammed into islands off western Indonesia.

On October 28, 2010 Shiveluch Volcano erupted, sending an ash plume 25,000 feet (7,600) meters high. Despite moderate cloud cover, the ash was visible from space. This natural-color satellite image shows the light brown plume rising from Shiveluch and out over the Kamchatkan coast and Kamchatskiy Zaliv (Gulf of Kamchatka). Beneath the ash and clouds snow covers most of the land. To the south of Shiveluch a smaller, darker plume is visible over Klyuchevskaya, another of the currently active Kamchatkan volcanoes.
