Smile Would you like to share your ancestry?

With all the talk about bloodlines being of some importance according to some, I thought I would throw this question out there.(Charles/Atticus, Edward Alexander)

I can start. I am American, which usually means a mix. My father's side has been in America since before there were states.-English/Irish/German and mainly Welsh(the brown haired, brown eyed kind.) This side is traced back over 1000 years.

My Mom's side is Polish, Swiss(german speaking part), Hungarian and Indonesian.
I would think that most Americans have quite a mix. I think the whole pure bloodline thing is BS. It's interbreeding and that leads to genetic defects, not to mention some of the "royals" are very unattractive.

    Hi, Ketturah-

I'm an American also. My father's parents were born in Italy and came to this country when they were in their 20's. My family on his side is from Naples and Rome, so I am half Italian. My mother's family came from Russia and were Jewish, so I am a hybrid. Both of my parent's were born in this country, but all four of my grandparents were immigrants.

I don't know all my bloodlines, but I do know my mothers side.
On her mothers side, we are Irish catholic as far back as we can go. Troublemaking buggers all the way.
We also have Danish from the husband of one of our female ancestors.
On her fathers side, there is English from Cornwall and some more Irish.
My father told me that on his fathers side, we were nobles in Lancashire and owned a large chunk of the county. The fortune came from the linen industry.

One ancestor I am proud as hell of is this guy.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Hart

They say this is him after the police burnt down the Glenrowan Tavern, but he didn't die there.

This is the armour the police captured from our boys.

And this is a genuine pic of our boys at large.

This is a pic of the siege of the tavern.

The Kelly Gang sounds like the guys we had from the "wild west" years ago. I can picture you riding around with them on horses stirring up the citizens

Very Interesting Lord Sideous! I left out the Danish part of my family because that was over 1000 years ago. I love that you have pictures.

The Kelly gang was very much like the James/Coles-Younger gang, they mainly attacked the wealthy and government targets.
When they did get good payoffs, they shared it around the area with their friends and kinsmen, again like the James gang.
And, yet again, they also had so much local support, the police couldn't get informants to give them up.

How extraordinary, it is indeed a very small world we live in Rob.
My grandmother, on my father's side, was born a Kelly (her surname changed to Day after she married my grandfather).
According to my great grandmother Kelly, Ned was my great, great, great uncle (I think that's right).
Looks like we may share some common bloodlines...

It's funny that you mention that, are you speaking of Jesse James? If so, after you posted, I began searching for my great-great-great grandfather's connection with Jesse James. I knew he was the Sheriff of Buchannon County when Jesse was killed. His name was Robert H. Thomas. I could not find any pictures of him. However, it is rumored in my family, that he is in the picture showing Jesse James in the coffin ( he is tall one in the middle). I don't know how to post pics here. It appears he had no involvement in the killing of Jesse James.

Yes, just a family rumor, because there are no names of men pictured with Jesse. Except, my great-great-great grandpa was Sheriff Robert Thomas. He didn't kill Jesse, just posed for pic.

    Hello Everyone,

    I will weigh in....

Even if this is for information gathering by the PTB, I don't care, it's all out there anyway.

    I am a 5th generation Australian.

On my Father's side, all English back to the 15th century. Some Scottiish (my Grandmother), some Danish.

On my Mother's side, German and Irish.

Someone in my line of direct ancestry was a major whistleblower in the 1800's in Oz against the Macarthur Family. Aussies interested in Oz history may be interested. PM me if you would like to know more.

    Cheers,
    Lily

My ancestor's city is called Anah it's located west of current Iraq along the banks of the Euphrates river. They are Canaanites. The city has been since the time of the Assyrians. It is named to honor the goddess Anat.

    I wonder many things.
I have also wondered about reincarnation within the same family....example: a few months ago, my young daughter picked up a child sized accordion we have, spent about 30 minutes messing around on it, and then started playing the song "Born this Way" by lady gaga on it. No one taught her to play the instrument, no one taught her the song. I was kind of astonished because I don't play any instruments at all. I asked her Dad, who did take lessons as a child, how is that possible? He said, "if you know how to play piano, you can play accordion." But that explaination is not good enough for me. His mother who died in 1975, when he was three, was an accomplished accordionist.

I wonder if it's his family genetics coming through, or something else?

Has anyone used Ancestry.com as a resource? I've used it, and have found that much of the research had already been done by the Mormon church and others. Found out some interesting stuff about what my "real" surname would have been had my great grandfather not been adopted. It turns out, if I am to believe the lore about this surname, that it was granted to my ancestors for having fought bravely alongside Joan of Arc against the English.

Didn't Mick Jagger star as Ned Kelly in a movie not so long ago?
Define ''not so long ago'' the movie was around 1970!
