Pow Wow Highway ( Movie ) The road movie gets a smart update with this seriocomic tale of two Cheyenne men traveling from their reservation in Montana to New Mexico. For one of them, Buddy Red Bow (A Martinez), a quick-tempered activist, the journey is a practical one; his sister has been arrested and he is the only family member who can help her out. Buddy has no transportation, so he's forced to ride with Philbert Bono (Gary Farmer), a phlegmatic hulk of a man who is using his 1964 Buick as a vehicle for a spiritual journey of his own. Philbert's easygoing ways and insistence on frequent stops to meditate prove irritating at first to Buddy, but the men reach an accommodation as the trip wears on. Buddy comes to see that blaming the white man and what he sees as system rigged against Native Americans is distracting him from his true mission: to better understand himself and his place in the world

Hi y'all.

Just want to say, more has been achieved in this thread (IMHO) than I've seen on any forum, or blog, for those that are looking to move on (in life, towards something better).

I joined in the H&N thread near the beginning, since then I've had countless belly laughs, wept buckets, and been taught lesson I should have learnt a loooong time ago. For reasons I won't go into now, I've struggled to think of anything useful to contribute, preferring to watch from the sidelines.

The struggles I've had, you all helped towards the answers I have now (which are wooly, but getting there...), you have all shown me some things I wished I had, including humility, grace, and bucketloads of understanding, to fearless and brave exposure of your own skeletons in the cupboard. For this and everything else I thank you from the bottom of my heart, you, all of you, have helped make bad days better, and problems look smaller. I just said 'you', some of you included in the recent rough waters, some of you not. You're all the same to me, wonderful people. No passage is ever smooth I guess, all is for a reason.

So I guess my point is this, that through whatever the tribulations, there is only one answer, though maybe with many routes there, and that is Love and Forgiveness, that's what you've all shown me to be true.

Ulli, you started this masterpiece of a place where people show their wonderful Spirit, so I just want to thank you again.

One of my reasons for choosing the name was that he had a colleague I was not so keen on, called… Atticus. He has another called Paul, but this was when the Pythonic Cow was still coming out of the closet

Well ... not surprisingly this caught my eye .

I read all the way to the end of this thread, hoping for an explanation of what it meant (lordy, this has been a fast moving thread.) Though I saw a couple more references to it and a sort of explanation, I'm still mystified. Not surprisingly so ... I tend to the more literal minded nerd side of things, and would be lousy at cryptic puzzles.

So if I may ask ... can you translate?

How can anyone who is shared in the village be deemed not a villager? Because ulli says it's so? I'm sorry, I really am, to be stirring stuff up. I'm not holding ulli to blame, we are all adults here, but from where I stand abob was a villager from the minute he first posted here, and the drama seems to have started with ulli's snappy response to jenci. I'm having a hard time finding the balance in the situation. The village is it's own entity, it was conceived on this thread, but should the thread be closed what the village is would recollect itself elsewhere. This weird connection we share is a living thing and it will preserve itself. Love to you, ulli, my friend, please let us find it in ourselves to forgive. Hoes and Porno.

a wine glass fell off the counter towards the tile floor, I thought NOO!!! and it hit, without hitting, it dropped down to the side and when the base hit, still not a noise, it is a crystal glass, picked it up, tapped it with a finger and it rang...

So here's the neighbor's cat I've thought of "stealing" -- It is sooo cute and smart -- reminds me 100% of Scooter and looks the same even ...




And here is a (what looks like to me) a young Goshawk that snatched up a Robin right in front of the kids and carried to the backyard to finish the kill (he's got the robin at the throat with his talons - he stayed there until the robin stopped moving then carried it off for his feast). The kids were a little upset, but it was easy to explain that hawks have to eat too.

I'm with you, PL. I'm finding it difficult to just sweep it all under the rug and go on like nothing happened. Something did happen...two villagers have been left behind for a reason I cannot for the life of me figure out.

I am struggling to understand the offense and have read the posts of 'offenders' and 'offended' so many times, my eyes are crossing...and still I cannot see the error(s). Perhaps my own perspective does not allow me to see what others do.

There has been no resolution...this could happen again at any time to any one of us who unknowingly break an unwritten rule.

Wish I had a funny something to post....

Taking a walk...perhaps the crisp fall air will help settle the images of broken bridges needing repair...

Time to move forward, sometimes the resolution is moving the mind past the problem - because sometimes that is the only problem. If those energies still need addressing, they will come again in a different form .... My 2 cents

That was the last time I drank and got drunk. (age 19) I drank tequila, you see.... Ruined the couch too.

Didn't even know where I was. that place, when drunk, that is beyond conscious comprehension. When I came to, as they say, it certainly wasn't any better. She was out of town and I was using her place to crash. In this case, literally.

Didn't even know where I was. that place, when drunk, that is beyond conscious comprehension. When I came to, as they say, it certainly wasn't any better. She was out of town and I was using her place to crash. In this case, literally.

Had a feeling it was a story like that. Glad your relationship with Mom survived that bump in the road.
