Just read a resume of 3 studies showing that intelligent people do more of the three S, Sleep later at night, Smoke pot and do drugs more, Sex much more sex than regular or non intelligent ones.

What does this all mean?

Correlation does not imply causation.  This does not mean that staying up late, doing drugs, and experimenting with sex toys makes you more intelligent.  But it seems to be the case that people who naturally have a higher degree of intelligence partake in these activities naturally because they are drawn to them.  Maybe it is because of their openmindedness, their desire to expand their mind and their experience, or a biological urge to experiment with something novel.

Chances are, a lot of people reading this tend to stay up late and indulge in life’s pleasures. This is not necessarily a bad thing, and it may even be a natural consequence of having an above average IQ. These three studies completely shatter everything we would expect to be true about people of high intelligence.  It seems to be the intellectuals that are having the most fun.  I think it’s time we let go of old stereotypes.

I see how this study reflects a lot of truth. Almost all I know stay up later than average, and it is interesting how many cultures around the world stay up much later than people in the states do.

The thing about drugs doesn't apply with me or most close to me. Maybe it's because I consider this life a mixture of drugs on it's own. Why blow out your perceptions by clouding the enjoyment of all there is around. Lessen sensitivity and the experiences decrease in intensity and remembrance. It is then of little surprise that no one comes to our home and drinks or does drugs, legal or illegal. It makes for a safe haven of silly, relaxed and enjoyable times.

As far as sex goes, I would add massage to that. I always found it incredible that people stay together, even getting married, who don't know each other's bodies as much as they should, inside and outside. I never even tried to get legislation passed that requires an in depth sensual knowledge of your partner's body before marriage, but it makes a lot of sense. I would bet that this group in the Village of Avalonians probably has a much higher sensuality quotient than many, which follows the truths of that report.

I dig the drugs for the cognitive expansion, the reaching out for bigger and better life experience stereoscopy. It makes for an expanded mind, with bigger better reach, with finer microscopic control, a finer capacity for realizing color and subtleties of color. Alcohol is not a drug, it's a mind duller, and is more often the choice of those with dull minds who want to remain that way. To 'forget' all the things they cannot reach, to revel in the dullness. Ugh. Alcohol is, to me, just like suicide.

Alcohol is legal partially because it is an addictive destructive downturning soporific toxin. Soma for the masses.

I've been reading family members' astro charts for 2016 and can't do that well if I'm even slightly inebriated.

Year's end for me normally means sobriety, and I feel as if I always have to do the opposite of what others are doing.


But now you (Carmody) mention it I have this sudden taste to have me a Campari and fresh orange juice.
The guests have left and all I need to worry about is to relax and enjoy the rest of the day.

Will be sipping it slowly rather than gulping it, while wishing everyone at Avalon a fruitful and happy New Year.

That's a really good summation of healthy living, Spirit Science and Metaphysics, especially E and F.
I have always welcomed the tears, from others and myself as well. When I was with a beautiful soul, troubled by heavy parenting and a lost generation of her friends, I treasured the tears from her whenever they came because that meant she was dealing with the truths that confused her. Nothing to say....just being there for her. I find it a weakness in men who can't or won't cry, even if it is rare. It means, to me at least, that they don't give a damn.

And as far as any need or desire to alter my brain's makeup....
It's not that I haven't experienced some of those short term alterations, but my health and active life style, along with being born with an addiction, made my time in those lost lands very short, even if I had a tolerance far above my friends'.

As for the sometimes healthy use of D & A.......and as far as altering the chemical makeup of the brain and the endocrine system, I used to tell people that if you meet someone in religious garb, (like I wore for many years-but only for the comfort, the energy and the simplicity of my energetics (like keeping my hair) -certainly not for the religion that was/is associated with it), I would tell people if they meet others so externally adorned to be forgiving of them......those not as communicative as me, or as seva oriented to others, had probably not been laid or loaded enough to "get" what that identity was all about.

I mentioned to some in the religion that they should probably institute the "Laid and Loaded" pre-requisite if they wanted to have a better relationship with those they meet. But you know most organizations and how full of it they are......consolidation of previous neurosis their parents and society gave them, only worse, hiding in plain sight...

Have a safe and happy time meeting the challenges that require losing the safety at times and allowing yourself the space to be unhappy to move on.......Every bit of it is worth the living....

Lomatium is an herb. Strong anti-viral and anti-biotic used in the americas by natives for a very long time.
I have found it to be more effective for me than many other herbs. I do take Lomatium and Black Walnut herbal tinctures habitually BEFORE I feel the need from excess exposure to weather conditions or any excess stress that I may be challenged with. I also take a couple of grams of good vitamin c daily..

You say before. Is that your own rule or is it determined? Like they say with the purple coneflower. Although the last time I was at the doctor for this type of ailment, he told me that it was a misconception and that you can use it during the disease (with results) as well.

We had a lovely Christmas, with 20+ here for dinner, but one of the babies was just out of hospital with bronchiolitis, and I seem to have taken up where he left off. For me 2015 was by some margin the fastest year ever, but it was still 4 days too long. Normal service will be resumed asap, but tonight will be an early night – now how dull and dumb does that make me? Happy New Year to all

If I were to celebrate a New Year it would have to be on March 21st.
It's the beginning of the astrological year as well as Naw-Ruz, the Baha'i New Year which stems from Zoroaster times.
Makes a lot more sense to me than the Gregorian calendar.

I have attended quite a few Old Year's Night parties over the years, but can't remember any I particularly enjoyed.
So I stopped going, to save myself the negative feelings I get when surrounded by silliness.
Fortunately husband agrees with me so we will have an early night here. We will be woken up by fireworks and their echoes and think of the poor dogs who have to suffer through this.

Violet. I use herbs during AND before any time I am sick, or if i feel something coming on. I am reliant upon being healthy to get work done, so I've been very aware of what makes me sick and do my best to head anything off at the pass. Many people do the same.

Just had a wisdom tooth extracted. Anesthetic just starting to wear off.

Yesterday, riding the pain roller-coaster, I think I may have hit a 9 on the 0 to 10 pain scale. At one point, I was pacing around the room, lost in the pain, and when the pain level dropped down to about a 5, I remarked, "I can see the carpet." Before that, my eyes were aimed down at the carpet, but I had no awareness of my surroundings - only the pain.

How in the hell do people live with severe, chronic pain?

After 3 years, my dentist is starting to figure me out. I was pleased that my dentist said, "I'd write you a prescription for pain, but I know you won't take it." She also was fine with me using Oil of Oregano as my antibiotic, and she mentioned Turmeric as an anti-inflammatory (noting that I had no plans to even take ibuprofen.) It's nice to see examples within the medical/dental troops of acceptance of herbal and holistic approaches - and not being defensive when a patient rejects the offerings of Big Pharma.
