Hello, Everyone: I have an update from Sierra. She'll post here later, and sends her love to you all. She checked in very briefly with the moderators, and I'll do my best below to relay how she is.

She took this short video, fleeing the scene in a truck. It's daytime, but literally as black as night.
Summary: she's fine, positive, strong and immensely thankful. She and her husband escaped with their lives, the clothes they were wearing, and with Pippin, one of their two cats. She thinks Martha must have died, hiding in a kitchen cupboard.

She's sure their house will have been destroyed, as was almost the entire town of Paradise. The scenes were apocalyptic. They're staying with kind friends, and have a bed, food, and transport. They already have money (cash in hand) from insurance, a rental car, and will have a hotel room Sunday or Monday. She reports extraordinary heroism, selflessness, and genuine sacrifice all around. It's been like a war.

Thanks for the update Bill - Sierra we're there with you in spirit.

Update - I just got an email from a friend in Malibu, where they are now evacuated, the fire there jumped the road and is heading to their homes.

It's the Woolsey Fire what they are calling it

Woolsey fire forces mass evacuations from Malibu to Calabasas; many homes lost

Quote The Woolsey Fire made a destructive march through Ventura and Los Angeles counties on Friday, destroying numerous suburban homes, closing freeways and causing portions of cities from Calabasas and Thousand Oaks to Malibu to be evacuated.

The 8,000-acre fire jumped the 101 Freeway Friday morning and was making a march toward the Pacific Ocean, fueled by dry conditions and extreme winds. Its rapid movement overnight prompted thousands of people to run from their homes as the flames came close.

Firefighters spent the night and morning battling the fire by air and on the ground, in some cases preventing it from sweeping through neighborhoods. But fire officials say at least 20 homes did burn and perhaps more.

About 75,000 homes in Ventura and Los Angeles counties are under mandatory or voluntary evacuation orders, but with the situation rapidly changing, that number is expected to grow. There have been no fatalities or severe injuries despite several reports of people being trapped by the fire.
Ventura County fire officials said crews that had been working the Hill fire, which has scorched roughly 7,000 acres in the Santa Rosa Valley area, were redirected overnight to the Woolsey fire. Officials said they expect the Hill fire to burn to the ocean.

The five people were discovered in vehicles in the area of Edgewood Lane, near Pentz Road.

    More Paradise CA images

Evacuations were extended up the Paradise ridge all the way to Inskip.

    Evacuations were lifted in Chico.

The firefight was most active in Butte Creek Canyon and the Highway 70 area above Highway 149.

Posting this twice because I think it's merited. The most lucid explanations ever of what is causing the entire northern hemisphere to be moved by 6. earthquakes (at the start of this video:
    ...also posted by Avid here:
    https://projectavalon.net/forum4/show...=1#post1258912
...and of what is happening on the West Coast (starting at 31 minutes in), as to how the fires and earthquakes and volcanoes are related.
If we really want to understand what Sierra and the whole West Coast are dealing with now and for the forseeable future, this is the video to watch, imho.
Also keeping in mind that the West Coast produces a big percentage of the produce that supplies the whole rest of the US and other areas besides.
Drought, fires, floods, earthquakes, volcanoes all can take a toll and if highways and bridges are affected by the increasing number of disturbances, shipping can certainly be affected as well.
This is not something that can safely be ignored, and Avalon should be aware.

Hello, Everyone: a couple of updates.

    1. The GoFundMe campaign has been started, and already has over $2000. Many members (and also guests) are diving in to donate, small amounts and large amounts.

This is life-changing, life-affirming, and new-life-restarting for Sierra. Thank you so much to everyone for your extraordinary generosity and compassion.

    2. I've moved a bunch of posts considering the origin of the fire(s) to this existing thread. This is valid and interesting, but that belongs there, not here, as it's far more technical and bridges over to other issues that have been discussed on the forum for quite a while.
Thanks again, everyone. Sierra is in good shape, and good cheer (we'd expect nothing else: but she is a very, very remarkable woman ), and she may be able to post a personal update here today.

Death toll from Camp fire in Paradise where Sierra and her husband escaped with their lives, swells to 23, with 100 still missing

Authorities in Butte County discover 14 more bodies, and fire crews are still searching through the burn area for victims.

The discussion of the actual activity of fires, the "California strangeness" is accessible via this link: https://projectavalon.net/forum4/show...=1#post1259067 It is pointed out very clearly, improper fire mitigation was/is present in California. There are no "secret dew devices" (secret weapons) being used against Californians. It is also pointed out very clearly how fires spread.

We all appreciate that Sierra and her family that made it out are doing well. The members are grateful for her unswerving service to so many. Thank you Sierra ! Much love.

Deep sighhh - death toll now up to 42 confirmed around the Paradise area.. over 250 still missing..

As was pointed out in the https://projectavalon.net/forum4/show...=1#post1259230 thread, there have been fire-tornadoes being reported in the Camp-Road-Wildfire which destroyed Paradise where Sierra and her family lived. It was pointed out to the disbelief of some that I felt fire-tornadoes have been responsible for the odd burning of melted vehicles in the burn area and still some green trees standing seemingly untouched. It is just a fact of how tornadoes move.

The fire isn't expected to be contained until the end of November, and has and continues to expand.

Here and now what the fire-tornado looks like in Paradise, CA during this current fire:

Prayers are needed for those who have lost everything, for those who lost their lives, for a way to rebuild and not let these issues happen again, please..

The Malibu fire update - the Sheriff has said, no volunteers (such as residents) who are NOT officials will be allowed into the area affected or to be affected by the fire, no matter what their skill level is - (paraphrased).. The ONLY ones to access that area will be the officials, the official fire-fighters (and rescue), the film crews that have been authorized by official pass, nobody else.

No forests here near Malibu, just ground cover leading up through the tar-bushes surrounding the hillsides outside of Malibu.. very sad.. no way to mitigate those areas, they are not forests.. but gees they burn terribly, and the folks have the bushes all the way up to the houses - no firebreaks.. those bushes are like concentrated gasoline.. are they cleared, alas, no..

    ==update as of 8PM Pacific time==

48 human souls have lost their lives at this point.. The amount of structures destroyed is up - An estimated 7,600 single-family homes and 260 commercial structures have been destroyed in the Camp road Fire that engulfed Paradise, CA. +++++++ Update +++++++

    ===Updated: Nov 17, 2018
Sheriff Kory Honea said the list was dynamic and could easily contain duplicate names and unreliable spellings of names.

Some on the list have been confirmed as dead by family and friends on social media.

Others have been located and are safe, but authorities haven’t gotten around to marking them as found.

(No DEW) - Firefighters were gaining ground against the blaze, which blackened 222 square miles (575 square kilometers). It was 45 percent contained and posed no immediate threat to populated areas. Crews managed to stop it from spreading toward Oroville, population 19,000.

This patch of California, a former Gold Rush region in the Sierra Nevada foothills, is to some extent Trump country, with Trump beating Hillary Clinton in Butte County by 4 percentage points in 2016.

Rain is forecast . An upper level LOW is off the coast ready to come in during the day Tuesday, with another system coming in Wednesday and Thursday.

Camp Fire evacuees debate leaving Chico Walmart parking lot (refuge center) as rain approaches

65% now contained. About 150,000 acres burned. 14,552 structures burned. Missing number drops slightly to about 991.

    ========= update =========

    Tuesday 20th November 2018

Camp road fire in the Paradise area has claimed 79 lives.. The amount of missing has dropped down to about 700 people.

Rain remains forecast which should diminish the fire potential. Already there are "complaints" being spoken that rains will make it miserable in the fire-burn areas, making it difficult to find body remains. (sigh). Save the dead or save the living?

what a year. no, seriously, many people close to me have faced unbelievable personal, financial and commerical challenges this year. The most confident I know have been brought to their knees this year and had some REAL reality checks. Me? I lost my sight waking up in a hotel room in May this year, and have had overcome a phobia of needles to receive injections in my one eye. (I lost my left eye in a shooting accident age 15), but here, right now - I LOVE THIS FORUM.....

...there's the weird, the wacky, the out there and also the REAL AUTHENTIC EXPERIENCES of many, who have been round the houses, and many who do not suffer fools gladly, many who are somewhat discerning and can smell the BS and see through the veneer of spotlight hungry supposed whistleblowers.

I feel for those in California, I feel for those who have suffered loss this year be it financial, emotional or otherwise. Sometimes I dip in here, then life gets in the way, as I wrestle and overcome my own challenges to experience this existance the way I want to and choose like many of you Thank you for allowing me to be me when I can.

As for me, right here, right now, I try not dwell on my fears, or my regrets, I endeavour to focus on new goals and desires on the future - what they are i irrelevant to my fellow avaloners, but the premise is important...

...I focus on the now in becoming what I want to be, do and have, for I dont want to be just a human being, I am a human becoming, and together we can all become so much more. I like to share my thoughts, my opinions and feelings in here, it feels like a real trusted community - you dont have to like me, trust me or agree with me - that's why we exist isn't it - to be individual and unique - and not comply with other sheeple?

Thankyou for allowing me to share when I can. this was one of those moments...
    ...Here and NOW.

As confidence grows, i will share more (If you're open to it - on many topics....) thankyou in advance.

The rains have now started in Paradise - up to 6 inches is predicted over the next few days, and the fires could very well be extinguished by then.

Some folks are dreading the rains as it will make it difficult to work in the mud, and ash. Local reporters are saying now "mother nature" is not cooperating ! So are they saying let it burn? Or make it wet so the fires are put out? And the forests less like a tinder-box.. (Damned if you do, damned if you don't I guess..)
