My sister had a goose poop on her head .. maybe that was Jorr?

    Happy Birthday Jorr!

I spent the last hour making 4 new soap molds. That may not sound terribly exciting, but it's a very satisfying ending to the day for me. Okay, I 'fess up ... I'm the lucky recipient of Reiki from 1inMany. It was amazing, I could feel a lift and a change from where I'd been, and then got a text telling me energy had been sent from her.

Vegetable soap sticks to anything, and the best way I've found to release it is plastic liners. I have to make 'em myself, and peel them off the soap each time, washing and re-taping each time. Tedious and time consuming. Still, better than a block of soap stuck to a wooden mold. It's tricky to get them exactly straight and fitting into the mold without 'waves' that make divets in the sides of the soap block. After awhile, the plastic stretches and even well done molds get wavy.

    Here's my hour's labor:

Tomorrow, I'll be making four batches of soap without divets on the sides. : )

Sabrina's post #1517 on South America, Assange, and the fallout of Wikileaks disclosure is a must read.

    Here is an excerpt:

"Assange has become public enemy number one of the great powers since he has gained the classified records of these long conversations about how to cripple the economies of South America, how to take away their energy resources and prevent their recovery; how to prevent their governments from pushing through Keynesian economic plans instead of applying the dictates of the IMF, whose sole purpose is to pursue a neo-colonialist policy principally for the benefit of Spain, Italy and Germany, with British capital.

Most files have already been published on the internet. Those and others were handed over by Assange in Britain to the Ecuadorian ambassador there.

On August 3 in New York, Ecuador became the first nation in the Americas and only nation in the Western world since 1948, to apply the concept of “immoral debt” or the political and technical refusal to pay foreign debts because they were made by previous governments through corruption, in violation of constitutional laws and requirements."

Marianne, I can appreciate your efforts in making a non stick mold for your soap, being a fellow soap maker for 34 years now, I have not bought a commercial bar of soap since I began making my own. I love the creativity of it and get lost in the alchemy of it, it feeds my soul, and so good for your body and spirit! I've always just lined my wooden molds with freezer paper, which to me is always the most tedious part of the whole process. After all these years I am taking this hobby to the next level and am going to try marketing and selling it.It'll be a local thing and hopefully will allow me to keep buying oils to feed this addiction of mine. I just spent lots of $ on organic oils and want to make it organic. Next is designing a logo and a label, which is way more difficult than making the soap! I have some ideas I am playing around with.

And by the way, I just stumbled upon this thread and I love it. You folks have such a great energy here!

Hi Lisalu, welcome to the thread!

Yes, soap making is creative alchemy... it feels magical to me, even after all these years. Best of luck on your business venture of selling it. I think you will do well if you emphasize your soap is natural and organic. Even with lots of natural looking soap out there, I don't often see one that's truly good for skin and body. Either some additive, or not using real essential oils but cheaper fragrance oil, or melt-n-pour glycerin soap which isn't the same product at all.

I have tried freezer paper too, and I guess it's 6 of one, half dozen of the other as far as the tedium involved. I wondered about the plastic against the soap, whether some molecules would get transferred onto the soap. I have customers with very sensitive skin, and no one has had an adverse reaction. If I were going 100% organic, I might look at freezer paper again. Do you use a pattern to cut the paper so it folds easily into the mold shape?

My mom and grandmom and farther back, have always made what they call 'lye soap' for laundry and household cleaning. In the fall they'd make it in the backyard in a cauldron over a fire. (They canned food the same way). Enough to last the year, I remember seeing stacks of brown bars under the sink. Kinda like Fels-Naptha used to be before it was gussied-up.

It was a different process than my cold method. They used any sort of fat they had, including rendered bacon fat. Which made it interesting, and always different.

Hope to see you here some more!

And PurpleLama and I have manifested another cat lover,
although they are more numerous than soap makers.

I think we were both inspired by our grandmothers! Mine too made her soap from left over cooking fat and her soap was brown and used only on your hands. when I began making it back in the late 70's I used beef tallow and rendered it down in the oven. It made great soap and was very clean( white) but then the times changed and animal fats weren't cool to use anymore and I switched over to using vegetable oils, and stopped eating meat for that matter.( for a spell) I hear what your saying about the additives and not being pure etc., I only use essential oils and natural coloring if I want to color it. have never done the melt and pour cheatin method. I always wanted to try doing it the way they did 200 years or so ago by making your own caustic agent by using wood ashes, I would imagine it would be a crap shoot as to the strength and amounts to use. maybe a fun experiment though.

I sat on my cliff by the sea this morning, overlooking a tiny bay where swans hang out.

I go there as often as I can. Time stops for me there. I listen to the sun.

And today, as always, I watched the chemtrails appear. Same place, one every hour.

thank you Ulli ! Yes, i am a cat lover, and it looks like a village dweller to, as I do like the energy here, but I have always seen myself as a fringe dweller, so finding a village is a good thing!

OMG-- Marianne has just manifested another soaper...well done.
That is the real alchemy, if you ask me...

And PurpleLama and I have manifested another cat lover,
although they are more numerous than soap makers.

Welcome to the Here and Now thread, Lisalu...so now you are a Village dweller.
    Ha...and another Peanut
Welcome lisalu and hello to satkirn as well
