    Back in the day, the Irish weren’t allowed to carry weapons. So hidden in plain sight was the shillelagh walking stick. This one below is made of blackthorn.


    I like the idea of a hook because as demonstrated in some of the videos you drape it over your arm. I mostly hold the cane on my walks rather than walk with it. I live on a country road, so when there are no cars around I practice the twirls and movements. It’s only recently that I started to bring it into stores. Again, I carry it rather than use it as a traditional cane.

    The light colored cane (below) is called the “Boomer Walking Cane” as in the baby boomers. It comes with grooves for easy two hand grip or grip the bottom to use the hook as part of self-defense. Even with the Boomer Cane, you can custom order additional tactical bits, such as the shark tooth pattern. The video below demonstrates its effectiveness beginning @ 4:39.

    Combat Cane (7 min)

    • The light one is hickory with heartwood: tung oil finish, high gloss
    • The red one is oak; with a stain and tung oil finish - crimson/oxblood

    Crazy storm here - high winds and hail. All the animals were afraid (as well as the younger kids) so we had to run around and reassure everyone.

    The winds were blowing every which way. And then suddenly it just stopped - eerily calm.


    About two weeks ago we had a tornado warning. Had hail the size of ice cubes. Weather has been very unpredictable. (I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt outside 3 days ago.)

    I told myself after a night's sleep, I was going to send the two films in English. This is not the translation of the film "Comme un Chef" , but versions in English with the same mindset on the food. Have you seen these films before?
