Ok, here is the song that came out the same year I moved there, 1982.
I lived there for ten years, before moving to Costa Rica. But I was so homesick I had to make arrangements to return somehow, and now I live in both places.
Husband is coming at the end of the month and will stay with me for three weeks.

Living in two countries is not easy, but I see it as an exercise to remain alert, to remember how the universe works if you only send out a request, and focus on producing enough jewelry that pays for my flights and my rent.
It's really not that expensive...Lots of poor people here who have to get by on very little, and who show me how it's done.

And miraculously it works out just enough, to the cent, nearly.
I even managed to buy a small car, a Suzuki Alto, tiny car....

Smithersjones, you are in the right place here.

Depression doesn't need a reason to be ... everything in the world can be good and right, and it doesn't matter.

I have seasonal affective disorder (S.A.D.) that can cause depression in the darker fall and winter months when there's less light. It's treated with a super-bright light I sit by for 15 minutes in the morning, during the seasons of fading light. S.A.D. is more common in the northern latitudes, and the further north, the higher prevalence of it. Since I moved to a southern (U.S.) climate, it has improved dramatically. But memories of it cling, and I always have to try and help those who suffer from depression if I can.

Some of the things that helped me: Doing 'shadow' work can help enormously. Being completely honest with yourself about your emotions is essential. Talking about it was freeing for me. There are many reasons for hope.

Talk to us, you'll find loving and sympathetic souls here.

    Love,
    Marianne

    Dear smithersjones,
i dont know if you want a reply or not, but you are heard. I think very few people can claim they dont go thru rough patches.I know i do-regularly.Some of it is a result of internal turmoil and obviously some as a consequence of external events. As ive grown older ive tried to keep the big picture in mind to reground myself, daily,or often as necessary. With the inner stuff, i think we are all a work in progress. I find my life a challenge, happiness and sadness, the main thing is to be able to function in your world, keep in motion.I now try to view my difficulties as "tests" in this 3D world, sometimes looking at them this way helps one thru- an element of personal detachment.

    Blessings, lookbeyond

There are so any different kinds and causes of depressions.
Some occur in people with over-active brains and can be remedied by an extra nap, just to rest the brain.

Others are the result of negative thoughts. No one knows where thoughts arise, but if they are consistently negative they might come from other entities via teleathy and need o be dealt with spiritually, ie meditation and prayer. Or replaced with positive thoughts, which means inner dialogue, and mental battles.

Or if temporary, they could be the result of real legitimate problems which are overwhelming the person, but must be dealt with, systematically. The sooner, the better.

Astrology has shown that in most cases of depression the planet Saturn is involved. This would require checking for the relationship between Saturn (restrictive influence) and Jupiter ( hopes, expansion, lucky breaks) in the birth chart. Also Saturn's angle to Mercury, which rules thoughts, plans, concepts.

Another cause of depression is alcohol. Many don't understand that alcohol acts as a depressant which will provide one with a short term lift, yet in the long term is a downer.

Right now Pluto is at 8 degrees of Capricorn and Uranus is at 8 degrees of Aries, and people with planets on that spot or at right angles to either will be feeling the crunch.

I have been in a depression-free period for quite some time now, but already know when the next one will hit. Once Saturn enters Scorpio in the autumn my Aquarian Mars and Mercury conjunction will be affected.
So I can plan now how to prepare myself. For example, I could take on a mind-project that is extremely demanding, like designing a house, by just using the Internet and Sketchup software. Since I am neither a trained architect nor engineer the challenge provided would absorb the Saturnian energies in a positive way and protect me from more morose thoughts.
In any case, creativity is the best protection against depressions.

Since no one can escape suffering altogether the least one can do to protect oneself is by consciously choosing in which form one wants to suffer. Gurdjieff called it voluntary suffering.

    Good morning Village,

Heavy rain pouring down during the night and still. Thunder and Lightning to go with it.
So... You're not alone in the circumstances smithersjones.

a certain mood may jump on us once in a while and the trick is not to judge it, or try to get rid of the feeling.
Just go with it as it presents itself without acting upon it too much.

The more energy you put into the 'wanting it to go away', the more energy the mood will receive and the bigger it will become.

In fact, when you just look at it without judgement it might even become an interesting ride for a short time where in a few hidden emotions come to surface where they can see some hard needed day light.

Have a wonderful day every one!

    @Astrid,
I checked and I'm in the clear too. thank you.

    Totally agreed with that Ulli.
When I used to drink, it definitely had that sort of impact on my moods.

~ Greetings to all Villagers ~

What is this about Modwitz leaving? It's been so busy at home lately to check into the "Here and Now." We have five new kittens and last night, we were asked to take in a little Poodle/Maltese puppy taken off "Doggie Death Row" to foster for nine days. Her name is "Cashmere" named because she has fur like cashmere. She was abused by her previous owner and taken to the pound.

She needed a place to stay for this time as her new adoptive family lives in California and her plane ticket is not for nine days before she can join them. My daughter, Jenn, saves these little dogs all the time ~ and always volunteers us for special cases and Cashmere happens to be one of them.

We are always learning to 'stretch and grow' for just 'one more.' It's not always easy but life never turns out as we have so neatly planned. Does it? And it's okay. So forgive me coming in blind to the Village and most of what's been happening here. I have not had time to catch up or keep up with the Village either.

Since reading Bill's new thread ~ I share your sadness ~ but there is nothing new in this regard. Thankfully ~ all darkness is leaving from Earth not just in those who have greatly harmed us but in ~ each of us ~ as well. We each are working through the last dregs of negativity in our own bodies and hearts and it's to be expected. Solar flares are literally "blasting" it out of us. This too, shall pass...like Earth we can heal, too.

So what I would like to add tonight is a video ~ It is 3:30 a.m. here but the new little baby is not used to being free yet and she is wakeful, wandering around like the little lost puppy that she is and so I am giving her some time and space to roam, she's been locked up in cages and needs time to get used to this freedom to be even if it is late for me and I could use some sleep.

My video is about starting each day without the baggage of old issues that happened in some other "yesterday." We are to let all these fall away from us.

We can learn to live in the "Now" and start fresh each day. We do not need to bring forward our old burdens. We are given a gift of a new day and it starts fresh, "sparkly, and new."

We are able to leave our worries, our woes, and our cares behind and begin again with a new Sunrise, each one can be a Beautiful Sunrise. I wrote the lyrics because whenever I am feeling heavy and overburdened, it is always because I have brought my "yesterday baggage" into this new day and this moment ~ as well. But we don't have to do this.

Even now at this odd hour, I am weary but my "weariness" comes from old memories of trials raising seven children and never feeling there were enough hours in the day to do all that is required. Then, I learned to cherish the nights and not wish for them to end. This is all my past "stuff." An old pattern that is so easy to slip into I hardly notice I am doing it.

So here I am in the middle of the night, weary again, but it's not coming from this added responsibility at all, it's coming from the memory of "tiredness" from previous days.

Yet, before the sun comes up I will sleep again and when I awaken realize that a new day has begun and I can choose to fill it with joy and freshness or not. I can also choose to let past days color it instead. Each day we get to choose again.

So I am here to share this new video I made about a "Beautiful Sunrise" we are gifted each day. It features the beautiful music of Eamonn Karran. If we keep reminding each other, maybe we can remember to do this and really start fresh.

So I hope it cheers up your day, this remembrance that we are not to carry forward anything but good thoughts and we can easily leave our burdens behind. They do not belong in the NOW of this new morning's "Beautiful Sunrise.

Much love to all here! Be well and allow your hearts to experience great joy simply because we can do it, so why not? xoxoxox

Ep 6:12: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." Even so, let your light shine and keep it real...

Lovely to see you Darla. And its so cheery that you are still rescuing animals
and setting a great example for others to follow.

As long as diversity exists there will be a need for rescues,
giving an opportunity to bring happiness to both sides.
There is no feeling greater than when someone feels safe after a long period of hardship,
and that feeling is then transmitted to all those who were involved
    in being helpful.
This is the secret of teamwork and group consciousness.

    Hi Darla,

I don't *think* Modwiz is leaving, he said he was going to take a vacation. Please hug and thank Jenn for her habit of rescuing little ones. I hope Cashmere can grasp that life is going to be much much better, and she can let go of the past.

No, not heard of the band Ulli but I used to live very close by the place itself.

Well, that was gorgeous Jenci! I loved the green carpet ... I guess from what you said, you no longer live near Tintern Abbey. Are you still living in beautiful countryside?

No Sierra, I am in England now, not Wales. I live in a town but it's still quite a green town and the countryside is not far.
