I'm from Washington State,at about 2;26pm was reported ,the BP ReFinery near Ferndale WA.broke into flames...a massive fire at the refinery in Blaine,is at over a 100 ft in the air,it's breaking news here.This site -BLAINE ReFINERY is the main supplier for Sea Tac Airport,as well as supplies the western cost for gas,at 31/2 million gals a day,21/2 million gals in jet fuel,2.2gals in diesel a day-this is a horrific fire by any standards,this is only what is being reported at this time,and my information is getting less by the min,I do know that that the BP Refinery ,mention it employs some of 800 people,there wellness is not being said yet.This is such a bad fire,I'm hopeful they have the best on site to get it under control,I have only repeated what the KOMO news 4 has stated as well as others

Thanks for the update. I just moved to eastern wa from Seattle. I had not heard of it yet... (don't watch the news much anymore)

mw, read the post you shared. un-freakin-believable. With any intimacy, even online, respect is the foundation. I would suggest that the Village is about as intimate as it gets online...there is trust enough to share some very private moments, and there is respect enough to allow that sharing. Truly hope that person got a one-way ticket. I'm trying not to be angry, as it would serve no purpose, but I find that remark to be ... rude, inappropriate, in bad taste and judgment...

I’ve seen many sun flares, but I’ve never seen anything like this video showing several dark plasma tornadoes on the surface of the sun, captured by the Solar Dynamics Observatory. It’s simply mesmerising and bloody amazing.


An active region rotating into view provides a bright backdrop to the gyrating streams of plasma. The particles are being pulled this way and that by competing magnetic forces. They are tracking along strands of magnetic field lines.

Each frame of the video was captured every four minutes for 30 hours, starting on February 7. According to NASA, this kind of video would have never been possible without SDO up in space, which has now been working for two years now.

Good call. His thread had the most eyes and I thought some cheerleading for the Greeks was in order. I admire their creativity and spunk. I have respectfully taken my leave of his thread.

Going upstairs now to have coffee with my landlady and bring her up to date with the latest news from the Here and Now Village.
Glad to be back in Barbados and seeing my old friends...although the first few days were a bit taxing , getting everything set up again,
and organizing the roadworthy test for my car, then the insurance.
Now all that's left is to get the cover note and go to the police station to get the annual road tax.
Learning how to do boring 3D life chores and enjoy every minute of it. I.e. taking the word "boring" right out of the equation... hmmm....

I went to visit an old friend who has a shop in an even older shack from where he sells expensive dresses
which he designs and has one machinist in there to sow them up.
While there an old man came and offered his services asking him for a dollar,
which is 50 cents in US money.
So my friend asked him to bang a nail into the frame of the outside door which was falling apart.
He gave him a couple of dollars and the man left.

Then my friend proceeded to tell me a story, promising me that this was a true story, about how in a house up the hill someone had died...
expats were living there, and they were feeling helpless in the situation, and this old bloke showed up and told them he was an undertaker,
and had actually dressed up in a formal suit for the occasion.
Now this man is mentally unstable, but he does know how to fool people into believing for a couple of hours that he is normal, just a little eccentric.
Just in time they realized that he had no vehicle, as he was trying to carry the body out the door, to dump it somewhere.
These islands are full of such tales....
