    Polly’s* latest:

    Strongest so far (no data):

    For the day: :

Frequencies spectrogram, the vertical streaks indicate “events” (tremors/EQs) whereas the horizontal ones reflect volcanic/magmatic activity:
Quote From Wikipedia: A Harmonic tremor is a sustained release of seismic and/or infrasonic energy typically associated with the underground movement of magma and/or venting of volcanic gases from magma. Being a long-duration continuous signal from a temporally extended source, a volcanic tremor contrasts distinctly with transient sources of seismic radiation, such as tremors that are typically associated with earthquake and explosion.

For the last 10 days, it now shows whatever Polly is up to as far as seismic activity is concerned:

    Since the beginning

New cumulative graph starting January 01, 2012. The continuously changing scales keeps compressing the earlier graphs to the bottom and to the left!

Location of the EQs for the last 10 days:

    * : Polly was so named from the “polycephalic snake” look of the initial cumulative energy graph (see post # 327).
The name became most appropriate when the eruption from multiple mouths/vents/cones/heads started to develop.

All Harmonic Tremor graphs are displaying a serious "defluffing" and starting to look like wet, skinny sparrows... indicating that magma motions under the Canary islands are getting into a stall:

    Oooops... refluffing again...

All right, now that I have some references on what the scale is on this screen:

... thanks to Julio Del Castillo Vivero's shot of the Atlantic Explorer sonar screen:

... It seems that the top part of the cone was around the 80 meter depth range a while back... and still is!

Some actual data from ULPGC/QStar via Actualidad Volcánica de Canarias (AVCAN):

Our dear friend Antonio González Ramos has made the following report in a post below. Thank you for the attention given to AVCAN and all that here we are bringing all this information firsthand. (Humberto)

    Antonio González Ramos:

We had the meeting ULPGC/QStar for the following release... The preliminary results are indicating:

    1. - The slick comes and goes at the rhythm of current flows in 3D. Morning and afternoon are different (in March we did the same, was on 13 and 14).... When the current is strong, the plume is diverted/transported into the deep layers and no trace will surface....

    2. - The greenish water is related to metallic elements that are complex chemicals that are coloring it (rust). No sulfide... which is VERY GOOD.

    3. - We confirm that there is still ash on the water (well it was obvious).... One of the magnetic trigger activating the closing the sampling bottle (the 50-m) did not shut it. Ash was padded with "magnetic" particles (metals). This has happened before in previous outings. The ash is definitively (and will for a little while) quite a headache (ROVs, cameras, accurate morphometry, oceanographic sensor system).

    4. - The indicative value is the ph. 7 in the morning, 7.5 for the afternoon (tide mixing-water and standardization ...). The normal pH in the ocean (= canary) is basic (> 8.2). This slightly acidic pH is indicative of a high content of CO2 in water (confirmed) and there are still some acidity in the water. In any case much less than the peak pH 5 in Oct/Nov/Dec 11....

That explains the bubbling (gas-co2), the echo signal (gas + ash depth). Also explain the green color (iron quelos), anoxia (low pH, high CO2). It would also explain (confirmed) the accumulation in surface coastal pelagic juvenile fish (sardines/mackerel ...) which, passing by, and suffered a small column of water (20-30 m width) with lack of O2 as pointed by Octavio, acid pH, loading of ash adhering to the gill arches and eyes... It also confirmed why the seagulls' feast... are undeterred....

This also is a good sign... This microphenomenon of local fish mortality, at least, is limited to this known environment... and seagulls (who see the stain the first) are responsible for metabolizing these accidental loss of biomass/fish and turn them back into organic matter returns to the system....

Strength, wind, sea and honor to all.

    Team ULPGC/QSTAR.

To the more than 120,000 viewers who support this thread:

    THANK YOU !

Since July, IGN has officially logged 12,589 tremors at El Hierro... and still counting since the seismic activity is still on going!

Thank you for your support and for dropping by!

    Again,

    THANK YOU !

    Congratulations Amzer!
And thank you! Thank you for your tireless work and dedication in informing us about a place some of us did not know existed. And since tremors can have powerful ripple effects, what happens in one end of the world, affects us all.
    With gratitude,

    Now...

That harmonic tremor is really getting skinny... and might be indicative that Polly is going into a deep slumber.

Who knows how long that slumber is gona last... whether it'll be days, months, years, decades, centuries or millennia?

I'll just keep an eye on it.
