This magnetogram gives you the values measured by the groundstation of Kiruna (Sweden, Europa). For midddle latitude auroral activity the magnetometer data should be below -1300.

There are currently no chances to see an aurora display on the Middle latitudes
    (0%)
The direction of the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) is strong South (-10.9nT).
In the past two hours there was a big solarflare with a class of:
    M2.63
    S1 Space radiation storm
At the moment there is a small S1 class space radiation storm active. This happens about 50 times in one solarcycle.

Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) hits Earth's Magnetosphere Today, Causes Ground Currents In Norway

    Space Weather
    Mon, 26 Sep 2011 10:27 CDT

A coronal mass ejection (CME) hit Earth's magnetic field at approximately 12:15 UT on Sept. 26th. The impact caused significant ground currents in Norway. Also, the Goddard Space Weather Lab reports a "strong compression of Earth's magnetosphere. Simulations indicate that solar wind plasma [has penetrated] close to geosynchronous orbit starting at 13:00UT." Geosynchronous satellites could therefore be directly exposed to solar wind plasma and magnetic fields.

Sept.26 2011,at 12.36 UTC a magnificent shockwave from a CME arrived in our atmosphere, with an effect on all of my instruments. The shockwave passed the ACE satellite at 11.52 UTC,just 44 minutes earlier.

Stay tuned for updates. Aurora alerts: text, voice.

thanks for al, the updates, it would be helpful to explain your thoughts after the results as I know what a CME is but don't know all the lingo as probably many of us don't know either. Again appreciate the updates..

I live in a very heavy populated area known for forest fires. Heavy solar flare activity is scary around here.

One thing is for sure, we are getting rocked.

Now seems like it would be a good time to assist the Earth, if you were ever thinking of doing that.
This post will, at once, serve to both mystify and demystify MY condition, depending on the observer!

No Need, she's perfectly capable of taking care of herself We seriously just need to let her do what she needs to do, and stop thinking we need to assist her - unless we feel she's asking for it, and then we'll ALL know - there will be no mistake about what is needed.
