Severe Space Weather Petition
Hi folks - a reposting from future talk.
Hi Everyone - I wish you all well in 2011. I have left this forum twice now (for various reasons) and return only for a brief sojourn. I have discovered that I have an aggressive reoccurance of a cancer I had 4 years ago. From a medical pov, I am am near the end of my supposed survival time. From a broader pov, I have no desire to die yet and will make every effort to survive. With this in mind I have chosen to act on some issues that I feel strongly about, while I still can and before any possible surgery.
One such issue is preparing humanity for the risk of a major solar storm. In particular the potential for a major solar storm to wipe out electrical grids in several continents. I set up a petition here (with an outline of the issue) : http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/...e-weather.html. I would like to imagine that we could attract 100,000 names by September 1st, 2011. So if this interests you, please put your name down and spread the word. This issue affects all of us. If you think it is a non event or it doesn't matter - don't bother, but if you feel it does, please act. It may already be too late to prepare national grids of many countries but I feel it's worth trying.
I need to feel that I have done worthwhile things with my life and I feel this issue is worth following through. You can't heal me of cancer (only I can do that) but you can help me feel good about trying to help one another and prevent the potential death of millions of innocent people.
Thank you. May all beings find the path to freedom from suffering,
Bright Garlick.
