Gulf oil full of methane
" NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- It is an overlooked danger in oil spill crisis: The crude gushing from the well contains vast amounts of natural gas that could pose a serious threat to the Gulf of Mexico's fragile ecosystem.
The oil emanating from the seafloor contains about 40 percent methane, compared with about 5 percent found in typical oil deposits, said John Kessler, a Texas A&M University oceanographer who is studying the impact of methane from the spill.
That means huge quantities of methane have entered the Gulf, scientists say, potentially suffocating marine life and creating "dead zones" where oxygen is so depleted that nothing lives.
"This is the most vigorous methane eruption in modern human history," Kessler said."

Well, I think we all new that the methane from this thing is a big issue, but I think 40% is a much greater amount than anyone anticipated. It is quite obvious that this is not going to be plugged by human hands, and if this much methane continues to flow at that rate, then we may assume the worst. I don't think I need to emphasize that methane is an asphyxiant, is explosive, and is a very effective greenhouse gas.
"Methane (CH4) is a greenhouse gas that remains in the atmosphere for approximately 9-15 years. Methane is over 20 times more effective in trapping heat in the atmosphere than carbon dioxide (CO2) over a 100-year period and is emitted from a variety of natural and human-influenced sources." Quoted from the EPA's website.

Check these videos out OMG!!

This situation is becoming worse by the minute. It's amazing how many people I have discussed this with who aren't awake so to speak. They can't seem to grasp how serious this is!

Re: Gulf oil full of methane
Hi Solphilos, interesting....
With all the solar activity…greenhouse weather is the last thing we need. This could very well all be planed out. Giving the urgency of the matter and the amount of hustle that’s being displayed, it seems to be the recipe for a slow but decisive global depopulation.
Or…
These oil tycoons don’t know what they are doing or have a clue what the end result will be. From what I’ve heard, they don’t even know why the oil looks like blood, and they did poor math on the pressure and the amount of methane gas spewing out. I can kind of understand why there is so much pressure; it’s possible that this reservoir is mostly filled with gas. This looks like someone put a small hole in a bicycle tire, as the hole expands the integrity of the whole container is at risk of crumbling slowly or dramatically like a popped balloon.
This is probably the deepest they/we ever drilled and I can’t help but feel a sea bed collapse is imminent. The amount of water and land sitting on top of the leaking cavity will crush it and/or fill it. Either way this leak will trigger some other catastrophe. The leak is shooting out rocks and dirt too, so the cavity walls are not only weakening, they are probably widening as well.
Staying optimistic about this whole thing is challenging, there is just too much secrecy, and that tends to make the mind wonder, as we all can see us doing…
The planet will probably never forgive us for this. Especially, if we go back to using oil and oil base products after this incident. People can argue that they are not literately involved…but if we keep supporting the life style, then we are feeding the devil…
This will probably be our only real opportunity to starve the greedy bastard. Lets stop the hypocrisy in our democracy.
Peace

Check out this thread over at GLP:
It's about the theory that the oil may be radioactive. It makes a lot of sense to me, and would piece together a lot of loose ends that I've been researching, but I hope
that it is not true.
