Default Media Say Pope May Resign in April

Hi Avalon friends, found this on the net. May be of interest to you.

    The Pope
According to Italian daily newspaper "Libero", Pope Benedict XVI is thinking about leaving the papacy next April, when he will turn 85

There is one front page news story that will certainly not go unnoticed: that is, that the Pope is thinking about resigning during the Spring of 2012. Journalist Antonio Socci has confirmed the same in the Italian daily, Libero.

"For now,” Socci writes, “he is saying that this may be true (Joseph Ratzinger’s personal assumption), but I hope the story does not reach the news. But this rumor is circulating high up in the Vatican and therefore deserves close attention. The Pope has not rejected the possibility of his resignation when he turns 85 in April next year.”

This is interesting, especially considering the rarity of papal resignations in the past:

In 1045, Pope Benedict IX agreed, for financial advantage, to resign the papacy. Pope Gregory VI, who to rid the Church of the scandalous Benedict IX had persuaded him to resign and became his successor, himself resigned in 1046 because the arrangement he had entered into was considered simoniacal; that is, to have been paid for. His successor, Pope Clement II, died in 1047 and Benedict IX became Pope again.

The best known example of the resignation of a Pope is that of Pope Celestine V in 1294. After only five months of pontificate, he issued a solemn decree declaring it permissible for a Pope to resign, and then did so himself. He lived two more years as a hermit and has been canonized. The papal decree that he issued ended any doubt among canonists about the possibility of a valid papal resignation.

The last Pope to resign was Pope Gregory XII (1406–1415), who did so to end the Western Schism, which had reached the point where there were three claimants to the papal throne, Roman Pope Gregory XII, Avignon Pope Benedict XIII, and Pisan pope Antipope John XXIII. Before resigning he formally convened the already existing Council of Constance and authorized it to elect his successor.

We are many, we are one! Who needs a pope and church when the Creator communicates directly with each one of us individually. It has always been stated that we together are his body...is this the true sign of unification? Interesting.......

I'd laugh if Tony Blair was the next Pope. May explain why he converted. He could do the New Labour thing to Religion. A new kind of Pope for a new kind of Catholicism for a New Age.

I think he said he wanted to get a combi van and finally see a bit of the country side and just chill. Fair enough.

He's got a lot to think about.

I'm thinking that "evidence is mounting" against the vatican.
But also, IMO whatever is heading this way into our solar system may mean bad news for people like him....

I don't get the obsession with these prophecies on some sites, etc.

Thankfully, Avalon has been fairly restrained when it comes to discussion of them.

I'm not a fan of Benedict as I've always considered him to resemble the Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars a little too much.

Good riddance to the Catholic church!

Interesting, Usually if you don't die naturally as a Pope, you are killed as a Pope.

Anyway, the job does not have much prospect.

So, even if someone has committed crimes and then "resigns" can they escape prosecution? I think that things are catching up to the Pope, the Queen of England, Bushes, Clintons, Rockefellers, Rothschilds, etc.... Ain't Karma a b*tch....?

Sure karma is catching up and the pope might resign next year and unfortunately he won't be prosecuted.

It would be a miracle if that happens

Here is an article saying the pope is worn out.

He probably wants to get himself tucked up in his high tech suit down in a bunker somewhere before the show starts.

People at his level of 'need to know' are crapping themselves about what'll likely happen when the stuff hits the fan next year.

It's 2012 !.... What does he expect to happen?, Obviously not something he can't resist being a big flashy part of, eh?

I searched but could not find any references explaining the relationship between The Vatican Insider and the Vatican. I know that most here have a natural aversion to official sources but the Pope choosing to retire is a relatively benign act that should/could be acknowledged by official Vatican sources.

They "might" escape prosecution on the international or planetary level, but from what I've heard.....not on the galactic level. The Benevolent forces are really chomping at the bit to get this whole mess sorted out. Now though look what is going down, I don't think that they will get away with this. Karma is a force not to be messed with, and so is a giant hord of pissed off Terrans.
