Default Is it better to just NOT know things?

I saw a commercial about the Chevy Volt. It said that the car gets 35 miles per electric charge.
I read an article about three weeks ago about an electric car BUILT IN 1896 THAT GETS 40 MILES PER CHARGE.
So a car from the 19th century gets more per charge than a car made in the 21st century? Are you kidding me?
Would it have been better for me to not know about the 19th century car? Better to be ignorant of that fact?

I saw an ad for a NG program on the last days of Osama Bin Laden. They showed that video that I'm sure most of you have seen of an old man watching T.V. in a chair and they show him from the back barely panning part of his profile. Come on, man, give me a break!
Now, I saw that interview, a few years back of David Frost interviewing Benzir Bhutto where she stated Osama had been assasinated. There were other factors about him not being alive that I took into account before I saw that interview, but my point is: Would it have been better for me to just be a "happy, happy, everything is to be taken at face value" kind of person?

MY wife likes to watch the news, and I usually end up leaving the room, but I often comment about how can these people actually report what they do WITH A STRAIGHT FACE!
I mean, these people cannot possibly have a conscience.

These are just a few things I could remember off the top of my head. There are more, but you get the picture.

Is it better to just not know things?
Is it better to just notice and then dismiss these things out of my mind?
Is it better to live in a make believe world than the real one?

Sorry guys/gals, I'm just pissed today and I don't know why.

Warlock, I get it. Some days I watch the news and some days I don't. I know 99.9% of what they say is made up, spun, re-spun, you know what I mean. And it's mostly bad news.

I also think that the everyday news anchor person doesn't have a clue. They are not reporters, they are news readers.

Of course there is the top level of the anchor people who do indeed know what's up. You'll find many of their names on the member list of the CFR.

I could use one of those 1896 cars right now. Thanks!

There´s a doc about it called "Who killed the electric car". It´s about the the GM EV1 and it´s a great documentary.

It´s available on you tube (10 parts). Here´s part one:

Me personally I couldn't go back to not knowing... I've learned to much that helps me in my life.

but let me ask you... were you any happier before you woke up to what was really going on in the world?

Initially, I wanted to know more...much more. After a while, I realized that the more I knew the more scared and depressed I became. Now I'm back at wanting to know more again. I guess I'm at the acceptance phase now (how sad) and I can deal with the REAL reality much more.

It's always good to know things because then you won't be a empty-headed sucker, falling for the crap.... Just ask yourself how does your anger change the situation? If you can point things out the way you did in your thread, eventually logical people will listen....

This saying arose in my mind going through this thread: “The more you learn, the more you realize how little you know.”

Sometimes, maybe it is not a matter of what actually one becomes aware of, but rather the way one becomes aware of it?

Hopes this makes sense to someone...

I can totally relate and have wondered the same thing for a good while. What I reconciled within is that knowing grants me opportunity above and beyond what I would have had in years prior - pretty plain and simple. From there, everything else is up to me to resolve. I would rather have the opportunity than not. The greater the catalyst, the greater the learning. The more despondent and angry you become on the outside, the greater the pull to return within and bring harmony to the self, whereby the catalyst is distilled and integrated. Healthy growth it would seem.

Loony, it's been so long ago that I don't remember.

Knowing, or coming to know was a long, gradual process for me, only accelerated by the internet.

It seems like I always knew that there was some type of veil on things.

Some days I just don't like knowing.

Hello and hugs to all! Warlock, I feel you in this. I was just talking to my partner today, and said, you know in the movie Matrix where the one guy just wants back into the matrix where he can enjoy his steak and live a nice comfy life? She said, "yeh" and I continued, "You know I can understand that guy. Imagine a world destroyed by war, nothing but an underground world eeking out a life and constantly fighting to survive vs a world beyond imagination with all the comforts and enough struggle. What would you choose, gruel everyday or the opportunity to have normal food and experiences that seem real?" Deep down though, I have to seek the truth. I have to know. Knowing comes with a price. We know we are lied to daily. We know our elections are rigged. We know we are trained from early like robots to be consumers feeding the greed machine. Maybe enough of us are waking up so that we can choose a new way of living eventually. Except for the religion for me anyway, I can easily see that the Amish are a happier people living their lives away from all this crap.

I'd just love a nice community where I am left alone with my wife, where we work together, have friends who work together, and are out of the ratrace. Not sure I am conveying what I mean. I like modern life in some aspects, but I also love the simplicity of farm life, simple close community sharing life in love, peace, unity, and live and let live attitude. Anyhow, hugs to you warlock, and I hope you are feeling better.

I have this conversation with myself regularly..lol Some days I wish I wre still in the dark, while other days I'm glad I am awake and aware, but in my heart I enjoy learning, searching and digging for the truth, so I guess I would rather know, other wise I would stop searching.

In hindsight ,even back when I was oblivious I knew in my soul things were very wrong.

Thanx for this thread Warlock !

At times I wish I hadn't known all this ´!"# . Where are the days when I was sitting in front of the telly frying my brain and with my tongue almost hanging out of my face?

"Life is about learning and understanding and developing".

You're absolutely right Maria!! And also 4 other words you used: "even this will pass". Whatever 'this' is, you'll realize that all is 'temporary', that everything will pass/evolve/change/develop/...

When absorbing this 'other kind of info' it's always good to remember the above... It puts things into perspective. It helps to ground and center oneself, to let go of fear, insecurities, thoughtspooks, ... when necessary, to communicate with others when possible, ...

I was calling B.S. from a very early age, the desparity that seemed so apparent to me was often ignored or glossed over. Then something happened, school, and the matriculation into the system, and a deep drought of forgetfulness.
After a good deal of family turmoil, a psychic shock took hold, looking around, I realized I had been sleep walking.
After fits of waking and sleeping, I woke... And how sad and depressing. This world, this gift, so horribly squandered.
The spiritual, lasted longer and seems to be unfolding in conjunction with realizations and searching.
And as tempting as it would be to go back unconscious in the matrix, I know I was meant to wake. Maybe not an easier path, but one we must all eventually tread.

yeh I get it...I think that too...all that crap the feed us with~
but looking from another perspective it is good that you can see through all the crap and the choice is in your hands whether you want to leave and get angry with all the stuff that is happening and to what they are doing or could just sit back relax and see what more they can come up with and have a laugh~ well there are more alternatives than just these two you could take.
hehe~ my one is sit back and observe with my rice bowl eating away~~~~

Anyways~I think it is better to try not to be frustrated or influenced by the negative energy that comes out of those things would be good.

It really depends on you - what you choose to be or do after "knowing"

    All the best~

Sometimes I think it can't be real. It can't be that bad. And all those people are walking in the Matrix don't have a clue of what's really happening in the world. But I think it's temporary too. We all have to go through this. It's darkest before the dawn. Just hang in there

I started a similar thread about why Eckhart Tolle isn't a member of Avalon: https://projectavalon.net/forum4/show...mber-of-Avalon. I started that one with the same intentions as you did I guess. We are all talking about all the things that go wrong in the world and how we can fix this world. “We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” And "Be the change you wanna see in the world". So, after we have become consious of what's really happening in the world we have to raise our and the world frequency to free ourselves from the chains. In stead of drowning ourselves in negativy. It is the 'pain body' that is addicted to the drama, fear and oppression of such topics and discussing them ad nauseum on forums is simply feeding your pain body. By focussing on the illuminati or whoever you are creating that reality for yourself because it's on your mind all the time. Your true self doesn't care because it knows it doesn't matter and you have a free choice.
That's the difficult part! After watching all the videos and websites about the things happening behind the scenes we have to let it all go and try to live in the now again. Because by giving attention to it, it becomes stronger.

I guess it depends on whether you have no problem being lied to, cheated, manipulated, enslaved, and maybe even killed when there is no longer any use for you, as long as the dream world you have created for yourself makes you happy for whatever amount of time your controllers graciously allow you. %^)

I certainly feel your frustration and anger. I'm sure we all have those days--maybe even many days are like that. It is certainly not fun or desirable to know (or think we know) some of the things we've learned, but overcoming the atrocities in this world could not possibly be achieved without first knowing that the atrocities exist and to what extent. Wading through all the disinformation, half-truths and outright lies is a daunting task for anyone and we may never be able to discern with anywhere near 100% accuracy what all is true and what is not, but I believe one does get better at discerning the truth with practice and sufficient investigation. Humor and a deep seated belief that no matter what happens, it will all be alright in the end is what helps me get through the really negative stuff. My personal belief is that the Creator of what we perceive to be the Universe/Multiverse is a loving, positive energy and given that it allows the horrific things, that occur on this planet alone, to occur, tells me that there is very much more to our existence than what we "know" and "perceive." Consequently, I don't lose much sleep over things--well, except for trying to devise solutions to our 3rd density problems.

Q: What happened to you then? How did you know that you are the Supreme?

M: Nobody came to tell me. Nor was I told so inwardly. In fact, it was only in the beginning when I was making efforts, that I was passing through some strange experiences; seeing lights, hearing voices, meeting gods and goddesses and conversing with them. Once the Guru told me: 'You are the Supreme Reality', I ceased having visions and trances and became very quiet and simple. I found myself desiring and knowing less and less, until I could say in utter astonishment: 'I know nothing, I want nothing.'

Q: Were you genuinely free of desire and knowledge, or did you impersonate a jnani according to the image given to you by your Guru?

M: I was not given any image, nor did I have one. My Guru never told me what to expect.

Q: More things may happen to you. Are you at the end of your journey?

M: There was never any journey. I am, as I always was.

Q: What was the Supreme Reality you were supposed to reach?

M: I was undeceived, that is all. I used to create a world and populate it -- now I don't do it any more.

Q: Where do you live, then?

M: In the void beyond being and non-being, beyond consciousness. This void is also fullness; do not pity me. It is like a man saying: 'I have done my work, there is nothing left to do'.

Q: You are giving a certain date to your realisation. It means something did happen to you at that date. What happened?

M: The mind ceased producing events. The ancient and ceaseless search stopped -- l wanted nothing, expected nothing -- accepted nothing as my own. There was no 'me' left to strive for. Even the bare 'I am' faded away. The other thing that I noticed was that I lost all my habitual certainties. Earlier I was sure of so many things, now I am sure of nothing. But I feel that I have lost nothing by not knowing, because all my knowledge was false. My not knowing was in itself knowledge of the fact that all knowledge is ignorance, that 'I do not know' is the only true statement the mind can make. Take the idea 'I was born'. You may take it to be true. It is not. You were never born, nor will you ever die. It is the idea that was born and shall die, not you. By identifying yourself with it you became mortal. Just like in a cinema all is light, so does consciousness become the vast world. Look closely, and you will see that all names and forms are but transitory waves on the ocean of consciousness, that only consciousness can be said to be, not its transformations.

In the immensity of consciousness a light appears, a tiny point that moves rapidly and traces shapes, thoughts and feelings, concepts and ideas, like the pen writing on paper. And the ink that leaves a trace is memory. You are that tiny point and by your movement the world is ever re-created. Stop moving, and there will be no world. Look within and you will find that the point of light is the reflection of the immensity of light in the body, as the sense 'I am'. There is only light, all else appears.

Q: Do you know that light? Have you seen it?

M: To the mind it appears as darkness. It can be known only through its reflections. All is seen in daylight -- except daylight.
